  1. True, but I have always found him to be a great go-between with county departments.

While I am not the chairman's biggest fan, in all fairness, this might be better handled through another department. By all means call his office. This forum is not something he has to take part in.
  2. Well, I don't know. But, I wouldn't think so. My gut would say that many would just pull current staff.

it is more like a contract situation. from time to time the church I work for does use people to fill in and also the media center housed on our campus did a special project last week where they did the same. I wondered if there is a market out there for businesses who wish there had some people they could call...
  3. We usually just pull from staff. It would be hard with liability insurance, payroll and whatnot just to have someone on staff just to fill in.

actually I am asking because I know someone who would like to be a fill in or do special projects for companies.
  4. See, this would have been much more interesting if it was trading balls instead of bells.

That TBAR was responsible for trading bells with the Kiwanis Club. This is an insider only rumor, but I was asked to snoop around and find out the TRUTH before an retaliation begins. :ninja:

TBAR, is there any truth to this rumor ? :ninja:

  5. Tell me this since you seem to know: How would the time change improve the school system?

    Excellent post pauldingbabe

"why is it parents get upset ONLY when they might have to change THEIR schedule to accommodate the schedule of their children?"

The change of hours was intended to improve the school system. That's why the whole arguement about how difficult it would be just doesn't fly.

  6. Television without Pity??

(Also, I found this site that has a forum where people with WAY two much time on they're hands dicuss there theories and such.)
  7. I second the Levsin drops.

Again, talk with doc about levasin drops. I promise you will be thanking me. None of that other stuff worked with my baby neither. One time she stayed up fussy for 24 hours. And also mom, if you are breastfeeding, be careful what you eat. But seriously, the levasin drops will change your life.
  8. You misunderstand. Yes, it will suck for me. And, it will suck for many, many parents that commute. If there was a logical reasoning for this BESIDES accomodating a football team that needs to travel to Newnan, I would be much more inclinded to go along with it.

Yes, I would have to pay for before school care because I will not allow my elementary school child to get herself on the bus in the morning when I am trying to get to work. Yes, I pay for after school care and I do have a responsible middle schooler that plays athletics and is not there in the afternoon.

    It sucks, sucks, sucks.

so how is that indifferent for your child..

what i am hearing is you dont want the changes to go because of you..

If that is the reason then just say that and not put blame on your kids..

what is so bad about leaving your house maybe 5 min earlier and dropping you child off the same time he would have got on the bus.. Also i dont beleave i have read anywhere that it is going to cost you anymore for before or after school.

and why pay for after school if you have a middle schooler that is responcable..(If he /she is responcable enough to get them selfs onto the bus they should be responcable to watch your younger child for a couple of hours, till you get home.. then you dont have to pick up your child after school and they get to be home some what earlier than they do now. which means more time spent at home.

I dont beleave most of us died staying at home with our older sister/brother for a few hours when we where kids. mater of fact i thought i was hot stuff gettng to be home alone with my brother.

  9. No, they won't. School will start almost an hour earlier for middle and high school kids.

but they will still be getting the same sleep.. they will be getting up around the same time they always have for the bus... insted of the parents getting there kids on the bus, they will be taking them to there before school program.. so there sleep sould not be changing..
  10. I'll give you my instance of why this will suck eggs. I have a middle schooler and an elementary schooler. right now, I can trust my middle schooler to get on the bus by herself. I am in Paulding until 7:11 a.m. when my elementary child gets on the bus. I am in my driveway, in my car and I get out of dodge to fight traffic to get to work (late) in Atlanta. My middle schooler gets on at 7:45 a.m. But, if that changes, I will have to a. drop my elementary school child off before the crack of dawn to get to work and my kid to school (plus, pay more money for before school care) or b. let my elementary school child get on the by herself which I am not inclinded to do.

it will also work out well for those with older kids..

those with older kids will no longer have to put there kids in after school.. because, the older kids now get home before the younger ones. so really they are haveing to spend less time at school and more time at home..

If the kid is in after school for 3 1/2 hours during the afternoon, why does it matter if its 2 hours in the morning and 1 1/2 in the afternoon??? I would think the kids would like that break in times...

I have to agree with its mr sarcastic to you.. i dont see how it is any differnt for those that already stay after school.. they are still having to get up at the same time they do now and they are still getting home the same time.. So what is really the big deal.. is it the fact you have to take and pick up your child from school.. most children have there homework done before they go home in the after school program anyway.. so you really cant use that as a reason..

sorry not trying to stir the bee's nest here. I just dont understand what could be so bad about our littles haveing to NOT stand for the bus in the dark. Please, tell us what is really so bad about it.. Help me see your views..

  11. Guess what? Even with this new schedule (which still stinks), schools will still be overcrowded, we will not have enough busses and houses will still be built. This crappy version of a schedule will not change anything but cause hardships on the majority of parents that commute outside the county for work and have elementary school children.

here is a thought, instead of everyone saying yes or no, someone start putting solutions out there so that the boe will look at alternatives.

i do not see how it can stay the way it is. schools are overcrowded, transportation is understaffed, and the houses just keep getting built.

i think maybe when the boe says input, it means input, not a vote.

i hope there is a solution to make everyone happy :)

  12. CARDIE! Meow, baby, me-freakin-ow!

I just took a stroll over to "another site" and saw where they were talking about us.....again, so I had to leave them a little message. I guess we will have a few more chapped butts before the night is over. Better keep that handy, soapy.
