  1. I wonder why people started thinking that. Seriously. I have heard numerous people tell me that but I have always carried my card and will continue. State law has not changed in that regard.

    Kind of a strange story....

I got pulled over last year by GSP (seatbelt violation).....yeah, yeah, I know.

Anyhoo, he ran my tag and knew I had insurance, but wanted the card. I had been told by SEVERAL people that carrying the card was no longer necessary because you're in the system now when you get insured (which is true about being insured) but the cop told me you still had to carry the card in the event of an accident.

  2. I am not a smoking nazi but, my goodness, it is totally disrepectful to everyone else on this planet to dump your trash on the roadways. Simple as that.

OK- I'M A FORMER SMOKER. I DID TOSS 'EM OUT THE WINDOW. BUT I ALWAYS LOOKED TO SEE IF A COP WAS AROUND FIRST! (and no ashtray in my car) I AM NOT RUDE AND ALWAYS TRIED TO BE KIND TO THOSE WHO DIDN'T SMOKE (ie. IF I WAS OUTSIDE SMOKING AND A FAMILY OR JUST NOSMOKERS WERE WALKING UP - I WOULD EITHER WALK THE OTHER WAY OR MAKE SURE I WAS OUT OF THEIR SPACE). YOU SMOKING NAZI'S NEED TO LOOSEN UP! YOU MAKE ME WNAT TO GO SMOKE AND I HAVEN'T IN 8 MONTHS..... just my .02 cnets worth
  3. It is Reflections but they do not have the Georgia Pre-K yet.

can't think of the name right now, but they've built a new Family Dollar right next door to it . . .
  4. Try Paulding Kids on Ridge. I am assuming you are in that area, right?

I'm trying to find a day care that is accepting children right now. I'm on the list at Color Us Kids but they have about 80 kids before me. :o Anyone know of one that is currently accepting kids or not such a long waiting list? I'm looking for one of the funded ones, anyone help would be greatly appreciated! :)
  5. Read the new law because that is exactly what is in it.

Should we discuss this as well? If so, here is what I think.

Child Molesting should not be all in the same category. An ADULT molests a child ...he/she should be convicted as a murderer would. Someone who has sex with someone (consenting sex) a year or two younger, should not be grouped with some adult who molests a toddler.

  6. Look at the new defintions:

    (3) 'Area where minors congregate' shall include all public and private parks and recreation facilities, playgrounds, skating rinks, neighborhood centers, gymnasiums, school bus stops, and public and community swimming pools.

This is from the new bill that passed last session:

    http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2005_06...text/hb1059.htm

Under O.C.G.A. Sec. 42-1-13, no person required to register as a sex offender shall reside within 1000 feet of a child care facility, school, or are where minors congregate, as measured form the outer boundaries of the residence and the child care facility, school or area where minors congregate. An "area where minors congregate" is a public or private park or recreation facility, playground, skating rink, neighborhood center, gymnasium, or any similar facility providing programs or services directed towards person under 18.

Sorry, I should have posted the GA law. I have it posted now if you want to look at it.

  7. FYI: Bus stops are specifically mentioned in the new sex offender law.

We did not use bus stops in the analysis, as it was not specifically stated in the law (areas where minors congregate is vague...but specifically put in was schools, daycares, home daycares that are state registered, skating rink, and bowling alley, parks, and ballfield). But if you feel he is in violation, call the Sheriff's Office.
  8. I have read the thread. I am asking YOU who do you think is not enforcing the law?

    What? Reread the thread.

We are discussing the law of being of convicted child molestors not being at a close distance with children. Some are saying since we can not enforce it, abandone it.

  9. It doesn't matter. Legally, she is not YOUR daughter. I understand your frustration but nothing good will come out of you calling her mother. None. This is a battle that you will not win with anyone.

This may be HER daughter, but mind you I am the one raising her! I am the one rushing around to get her to ball practice and parent teacher conferences and such. So she may be HER daughter, but since I have RAISED her daughter since she was 6 months old, I think I have a right to put my two cents in.
  10. If I were you, I would totally stay out of this one. That is HER daughter - not yours. She can do what she pleases, within legal limits, with her and it is really out of your control. If anything, I would have her dad talk to his ex instead of you.

  11. Wow, I am impressed that your five year old can spell! Mine is still eating the crayons.

The other night my son (5) wanted to write a poem to God.

    He wrote -

    Dear God,

I love you very much; when I get to heaven I want to give you a big hug . . . I'm trying to be nice (you'd really have to know my son to understand why this part is so funny)!

    Love,

    J

Isn't he just the sweetest thing! He put the poem under his pillow so God could find it! So of course God had to write back! (Side note - is it blasphemous to forge Gods signature?) My son was so excited after finding a return letter under his pillow!

  12. Well, can we get to the bottom of your apparent disdain of Pubby and why do you constantly post over and over about it? Can you two please work this little lovers spat out in private so you can spare the rest of the board your little innane comments?

    No, He did NOT! <_<

He never comes out and says it, but insists on beating around the bush.

I am surprised you didn't bring Jesus into your comment, this time.

  13. There is a Goddard School near the Brookstone subdivision that is wonderful. The rates are in the high range but the center is top notch.

Are there any members that work and have childcare in cobb?

It looks like I am going to have to transition my daughter from her Nana to a childcare center and looking for a good place that has decent rates? I am looking at cobb pkwy or kenn due west area?

  14. Oh, that is just awful.

I didnt feel right telling everyone about this with her still in the hospital but now that it is on the front page I thought I would let everyone know why I havent been around and my cheery self. She is doing great considering all the bumps and bruises, she has been giving a few pints of blood and she gets to come home sometime today (hopefully), they said that yesterday and she is still there. Today is her birthday, what a way to spend her birthday.

MARIETTA - A bride had to be cut out of her wedding dress Saturday night after the horse-drawn carriage toting her and her groom was involved in a hit-and-run accident here.

Clint Small, owner of Yellow Rose Carriage Service, and his assistant, Melissa Gibson, were injured in the accident. The bride and groom were not seriously injured and were taken home later that night.

Small and Ms. Gibson had just taken the newlyweds for a carriage ride around the Square and were taking them back to the reception at the Marietta Conference Center on Powder Springs Road around 11 p.m. when a car rear-ended the carriage, knocking its back wheel off and causing it to tip over, said Small's wife, Barbara Small. She did not know the names of the couple.

Mrs. Small said all four people in the carriage were thrown out of it, the driver of the car fled the scene on foot and the horses took off with the carriage toward the conference center. She said people at the conference center were able to stop the horses and Ms. Gibson, after being thrown underneath the carriage and dragged 10 or 15 feet, ran for help.

"I don't think they'll ever catch the guy driving the car," Mrs. Small said.

Marietta Police Department spokesmen Detective Jake King and Officer Mark Bishop were looking into the accident but could not provide details by press time Monday night.

Mrs. Small said the horses were not seriously injured.

Small was still in the Intensive Care Unit at WellStar Kennestone Hospital as of 6:30 p.m. Monday and was being treated for liver and heart problems as a result of the accident, Mrs. Small said. He had landed on his back when he was thrown from the carriage and was run over by one of its wheels. Mrs. Small said Ms. Gibson, a kidney transplant recipient, was badly bruised and was having some problems with her kidney as a result of the crash. She also was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

But all things considered, Mrs. Small said they were lucky.

"It could have been a whole lot worse. The horses could have kept going, they could have caused another accident, there could have been a lot more people injured, the horses could have been killed," Mrs. Small said. "We were lucky in that aspect of it."

Ms. Gibson is my SIL by the way!

  15. I am right there with you and I am right there struggling with you. My youngest starts Pre-K in the fall also and he is faaaaar from being potty-trained. I have recruited his older siblings, his daddy and just about every male I know in the neighborhood to mentor him. As of yet, going pee-pee or poo-poo in the potty escapes us.
