  1. Hopefully, the parents and school can get together soon to form a new boosters club and everything get settled back down.
  2. As far as age goes, they look at the age group with the most claims. Youth, who haven't figured out how to drive safely yet and elderly who think they still can way beyond the time they should stop. When my grandmother died, there wasn't a body part on her car that didn't have a dent or a scrape on it, none of which she could remember happening. I shudder to think of all the people in parking lots that cussed when they came out after she parked next to them.
  3. I doubt the school system signed over an interest in the building. It was basically an unsecured loan and has come back to burn them. Shoot I wanted a $15K loan to purchase this 30K lot in Paulding in1998 and was told by Suntrust "we don't do land loans. Have any other collateral? " So even with an interest and great credit I couldn't get a loan. This one has Good 'ol Boy written all over it.
  4. I can imagine it is tough to get parents to work fund raisers when they know that most of the money will go to the bank rather than helping their kids. I imagine they had rather just pay for the kids stuff themselves and know their kid is the benefactor of their work. Sad situation for the current booster club to be put into.
  5. Age will have an impact, my FIL is near 90, his has been climbing a good bit every year.
  6. Good point. Did your Credit Score change? New loans etc? My wife worked insurance for a while and said they use those scores to set the premiums as well.
  7. Ah, then I wouldn't see it on the Northside where I am. Hopefully it's taking the Hiram by pass to 278.
  8. I'm not sure of the truck traffic on 92, but I've been stuck behind enough on 61 to know a bunch go that way. There are fewer lights, getting through Dallas is easier than trying to cross 278 in Hiram and they can take Old Alabama road and go straight to 75 right at Cartersville. If they go 92, they end up turning left onto 41 and headed up to the connector I would imagine. If the Dabbs Bridge/41 interchange to 75 ever gets built, then I think 92 would become the primary path (even with the 278 issues) due to the 4 lane portions and Dallas would look like that town in Cars.
  9. The Atlanta Falcons, the Berry Eagles and Blondie's Ducks. Birds of all kinds bringing us together!!
  10. I've always paid mine at six month intervals. I get a little savings since they don't have to send 5 months worth of bills and I just make monthly deposits into a budget category so I have the cash when the bills come in. Granted, changing from monthly to six months would be a pain in the butt since you wouldn't have the time to save up. State farm has an option where you select six month payments, but then it allows you do delay half the payment for two months for $2.00 which can help.
  11. They sure tear up the right turn in downtown Dallas when they run over the curb though.
  12. I think you are thinking about the toll road that was to connect I-20 to I-75 and pass through Paulding. It was shot down in flames, never to rise again.
  13. Ain't THAT the TRUTH!! The other thing I find is I can't do one thing without doing another first, but then can't do the second thing until I do a third, etc, etc, etc.
  14. Went to Cadillac this week. Quick and easy and only $15.
  15. Wonder why boxing doesn't have these issues with concussions? My daughter has gotten a concussion in soccer (two girls going for the same header, I have it on tape, it's scary as heck) A teammate on her club team got a concussion playing keeper when she was diving for a ball and caught the goal pole instead. I'm just glad more schools are looking for it now. When my daughter got her's, they were more worried about the bloody nose and sent her back into the game in the 2nd half. Her case is one of the initial reasons that North Paulding started having a concussion protocol.
  16. I doubt it was random myself. Many thugs like those in either of these cases are not interested in a fair fight, they are interested in doing what they want to someone without getting hurt in return and unfortunately, the mentally challenged and the young are prime targets. Same as mass killers picking "Gun Free Zone" to stage their attacks. I agree that rate of crime against the disabled is a valid topic, but in this case the victim's race was obviously the primary concern, secondary was that he was disabled and would not have the capability of fighting back.
  17. What do you grind? Just get a chuck roast and grind it all up? We have a grinder that I've used to grind deer and since we came up short this year, may want to make regular burger out of it.
  18. We were in the ER with my FIL yesterday (for internal testing) and found it full of broken bone cases from slipping on the ice. The nurse said it had been that way all day.
  19. Yep. It's still a Bellsouth.net address but the server is Yahoo. They make no money off of us as my wife uses a POP client to pull the emails, so no ad revenue. I have no idea why they thought taking over AT&T's email was a good idea. If it made money, AT&T would have kept it. I had Yahoo Search as my home page for years, but got tired of waiting for it load as they put more an more crap on their search page and cluttered it up. Google had a fast loading (even over a modem) clean looking search page and was smart and put the ads on the RESULTS page where you were actually l
  20. Dabbs Bridge Road is icy where shaded, but the county spread sand and salt and it's drivable if you reduce speed. My concern was someone was going to hit the dry spots, think the road was fine and do 50 MPH, then round a curve and hit ice with little warning. There are a LOT of tire tracks off the side of the road in a lot of places.
  21. Walking down the neighborhood right now the roads that received sunshine seem to be fine. However, any point that was shaded seems to have melted a little and are quickly refreezing into ice. Where my driveway is shaded is 1/2" of ice. We couldn't get out if we wanted to.
  22. When I think of the money the state has spent keeping that #$%^%# alive all these years I'm just sick.
  23. BTW - I have no problem with working out a schedule with the doctor to spread the vaccinations out over a reasonable period of time. I agree that pumping multiple shots into a young body at the same time is not well advised. As well, I believe they should be delayed where there is little risk of getting the illness until the child is old enough to ensure that antibodies can be generated.
  24. Another very good example of why we should stop spending money on refugees and use it on badly needed help for our veterans.
  25. I don't understand where I went wrong. Millennials are supposed to be selfish and duck out of work for any excuse. How did I manage to raise two of them that insist that they will go to work against my best recommendation? Even the one that totaled his truck on ice 5 years ago! That they both made it safely will mean they'll try it again when it's worse next time. It's notoriously difficult to predict snow here. I know that. Yet I still get disappointed when they say "3 to 5 inches" and we get 1/2". <sigh> I think it was someone on here that said that we only get
