Well said. I come to work and try to give my best every day because that's the way I was raised. However, I was raised to not take s**t from anyone either. A couple of years ago, my school hired a black principal and certain teachers grumbled he got the job because he was black. I told my colleagues I didn't care why he got the job and should be given a chance before people make those assumptions. Personally, I didn't care for him but I refrained from making racial comments because I felt it would divide our employees and having been called a racist I tried to refrain from calling others a rac

We tried Dish Network and hated it. Every time there was bad weather it would go out and unlike Comcast, no on demand programming. However, we contacted comcast 6 mos. later and they gave us a much better deal. Regardless of the service, I think most are willing to make a deal. If not, screw em.

I have a cousin that has been on Welfare her whole life. She had to work for her benefits for a time but she is happy accepting a check and had 2 kids to boot. However, because she received these benefits, her oldest child had food on the table and a roof over her head. Early on, she made the decision to have a different life than her mother and has. She is now happily married with three children and has a good life. Her brother, on the other hand, is just like his mother; lazy and lethargic. One out of 2 made the decision to want and expect better and it would be bad for society to screw thes

Damn, I'd love to do that; just once. I guess I can dare to dream.

I don't think it is and I agree breeding generations of welfare recipients is not what the system was designed to do. However, I don't want to see decent, hardworking people thrown under the bus due to circumstances beyond their control either.

This is what these programs are designed for. I'm pretty sure most people don't want to withstand the humiliation and embarrassment of having to receive public assistance. Some will take advantage of the system, but should we screw those who legitimately need help. If we begin to feel that way as a nation, we're in bad shape.

Years ago, I lived on Long Island, and Suffolk on of the 2 counties on LI, wanted to drug test county employees. I called a local politicians office, asking would that include elected officials and they replied no, saying they were not county employees. I asked if they received their check from the county, which they did. I told the local official he was a hypocrite. I think this creates more issues than it solves.

Since your tax dollars and mine help pay the salaries of our elected officials, should we drug test them as well? Hell, drug test everyone. So if they test positive you take their benefits and they resort to crime to pay for their habit or to survive. If they test positive, would you put these people in jail, where they would cost even more. I don't want people pissing money away either, when I work hard for it but is this really worth the time and expense?

Should the executives at AIG and others receiving TARP money have to take a drug test as well?

I graduated college in a bad job market and wound up working construction for many years. My father, a bricklayer, told me to get out of construction and now I see why. In 2000, my wife convinced to go back to school and become a teacher and I took her advice. I have a job and o.k. benefits, my father living in Florida, cannot find work. If my father didn't have to pay astronomical insurance premiums, due to my mother's preexisting medical condition, he would have been able to retire comfortably. I feel for anyone in construction trying to make a living right now.

I'm starting a unit on the Great Depression for my Georgia Studies class and this struck me: In 1929, less than1% of the population owned nearly 1/3 of the country’s wealth, industry declined, the auto and construction industry suffered declining orders and workers were laid off and employers cut wages. Sound familiar?

The Eric Massa sketch was better.

If DWTS really wanted ratings they should have put Jon Gosselin as well. I'd watch that.

The Razzie or the Oscar?

I think she's pretty cool; it's great to see someone with a sense of humor. She could be the first actor to win an Oscar and a Razzie in the same weekend. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/07/sandra-bullock-picks-up-h_n_489004.html

Almost a year ago, my wife had emergency spine surgery. During pre-surgical tests, we also found out she has Multiple Sclerosis. Needless to say we were devastated but her insurance covered a good portion of the 143,000 bill for surgery and hospitalization. However, there was still about 10,000 to pay for miscellaneous medical bills, rough to handle but slowly we could pay it back. Finally, we started to address the M.S. issue and went to the MS Center of Atlanta and her doctor prescribed Copaxone which is sold by one company, Shared Solutions. Without insurance, Copaxone costs 2,200 dollars m -
Do your children know about your finances?

I think that's great because it gives children an understanding of money and they will learn to value and respect it as they get older. -
