  1. I don't think I have ever heard him speak of the cost. I would be very surprised if it were anywhere near that but I could ask some folks who know for sure. Are you sure he gave those figures? I still like Jason's ideas. I wish they could be implemented. I am learning not to have as much faith in campaign promises as I once did. I can say that if Sheriff Gulledge says something I believe him. I have never known him to shy away from the truth, no matter what I, or anyone else thinks of the issue. To the best of my knowledge he has made no promises that he has not kept.
  2. Thank you. This is my favorite: Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company. ---George Washington
  3. I have already asked him, before his election, and again just recently. He is totally honest and does not make any apologies for his views. I may disagree with him but I also respect him and his opinion. I believe he is very good at his job. I don't know how much a Commissioner can do when the Sheriff has a different opinion. I have no knowledge of the workings of the offices involved when dealing with a policy such as this. I do know that Sheriff Neal Warren, in Cobb County, feels that his program is very successful and ICE does deport the illegals they arrest. They recently renewed th
  4. I can't vote for Mr. Crow but I will certainly ask Mr. Golden. I can't see that anything has been done about illegals in this county. No matter who makes the campaign promise.
  5. Would have no respect for them and would not vote for them. I sure do hope you are not about to say either of them are.
  6. They are good folks. They did our hardwood floors and we are really enjoying them.
  7. I believe David Austin campaigned on the illegal immigrant issue in Paulding County too. How is it different from this young man campaigning on it? I have heard nothing more on the issue since the last election. Sheriff Gulledge has not changed his opinion in any way. He has always been straight up about his views. I like Jason's ideas about this. You have always been against enforcement of the law regarding illegals (as far as I can tell by your past posts).
  8. Sad, isn't it? We used to believe that most folks did make an effort to understand.
  9. I guess that explains the lack of knowledge then. Thanks. I wondered why our test scores are near the bottom and why we can't compete with other nations in Math and Science. I know it isn't because we don't have good teachers. I have worked with some of them and they were great. Our Education System has been dumbed down. JMO
  10. I heard Sheriff Gulledge's statement on the radio. He is heartsick I am sure. My thoughts and prayers are with all involved. I will wait for the rest of the story before I make any judgement about this. Sad for Paulding County and the young man's friends and family.
  11. If folks do not know the history of America and these, so called trivial details, how do you expect them to value the freedoms we have/had? They need to know about the Founding Fathers, the Minutemen, and the blood that was shed by the Patriots who were wounded, and who died to give us those freedoms. The schools who do not teach these things are failing America and her citizens. Unfortunatly, these ignorant people do have the right to vote. The same Patriots whom they appear to know nothing about, died to give them that right. What a shame they have chosen to be ignorant of this count
  12. That one was geared to business questions and they did a great job of working so many folks into one evening. Hard to do. Maybe we could get our friend Joe to moderate one and get the DA candidates to come out. I wonder how many folks would actually come? Voting has been going on for some time too and if you add the Holiday it might not be workable or very helpful. The Primary is on the 20th.
  13. It is also running right here on p.com Fastread page. Has been for some time. If I am not mistaken, it was the Debate sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Paulding held on June 15 at the Dallas Theater.
  14. Then what does the 17% of SPLOST going to Parks and Rec. pay for exactly?
  15. I tried real hard to find enough reasons to vote no. When I weighed all of the facts I had to go with yes. the clincher was schools having to cut back on sports programs and kids needing to have a place to play sports. They need good healthy things to occupy them. "Idol hands are the Devil's work shop". Maybe not, but enough of a reason for me to vote yes. Public safety is very important too of course.
  16. Don't know for sure but I think you would be wrong about Tahoe. I think Tahoe is a conservative and I doubt very much he/she voted to put that Moron in office.
  17. I believe that is true Pubby. The CANDIDATE has to live in the post they run for except for the AT Large Post. At least that is the way I understand it. I think someone is trying to get on the ballot as an Independent. This is the link for finding what districts you live in and when you plug in your info you also get a sample ballot and voting precinct. http://www.sos.georgia.gov/MVP/Login.aspx
  18. Well he wants to keep the 19th District job but I am still confused about why he quit his bank job. Especially in this economy.
  19. Post districts (BOC) are different from State House Districts (District 19 &17 around here), State Senate Districts (30 & 31), and Congressional (District 11). We also have different ones for BOE. I may have missed something in posting some of them. It can get confusing. Will is running for House District 19.
  20. Okay, now I have heard from someone whose opinion I value very highly!! You guys keep striking down the good things I thought I knew!!! Does anybody have some things they think are good about any of these guys?
