A tax preparing company might be willing to provide you with the forms to manually do it. Or depending on how easy their tax returns are going to be they can negotiate a reasonable price to have it done. Also they can contact a tax advocate with the IRS and see what they suggest. I'm sure they could provide all the forms and publications needed to prepare the returns.

There are some apartments in Dallas that the rent is income based. It is not government housing. Government housing is slowly going away. As the government housing is going away they are providing the residents with Section 8 vouchers to rent from private owners. You're dreaming if you think you can find rent for $600/month unless you are considering a very small duplex. People who have decided to just let their house go is part of the problem with our economy these days. Most people cannot sell their home for what they owe on it and they have similar situation to you as far as their income and monthly payment. When my son was younger there was a news story about a boy close to his age and that boy had told someone about a neighbor touching him inappropriately. I had my son watch the story with me and then praised the boy for trusting a parent enough to tell them what happened and how he saved children in the future from ever being harmed by this adult. I believe it taught my son what he should do. Of course we talked a little more in depth about it but that was how i brought the subject up.
