been thinking this all afternoon, but didn't dare say it or type for fear of jinxing myself... i could use a surprise day off, though...

Cobb closed a few years ago when a tropical storm came through with rain like this...the rain had already stopped, but too many roads were flooded & trees were down all over the place...
-
so glad there are no trees in my yard and now there is a flash flood warning until 11pm for Paulding County...

That could be a real problem. Everything is saturated. Where's it all going to go?

Days like this make me so happy I am not still living in my basement apartment...

I emptied my rain gauge at 10:30 this morning, it already has another 1.5 inches in it. I'm sure my lawn & the flowers are loving it, but so are the weeds. It's supposed to finally stop by next weekend, I can only imagine how high everything is going to be by then. Could be worse - my next door neighbor has a moat encircling her house now. SO glad I live at the top of a hill

My house is worth a bit less as well,,but I still have to pay $180 more than last year....after seeing what has been moving into my neighborhood lately, the value is just going to keep going down. Maybe eventually the taxes will decide to do so as well

What is so wrong with wanting to remember the people we lost by doing something good for the people who are still with us? What better way to remember someone and honor his/her memory? To those who say turning September 11 into a day of community service makes them ill, what would you have us do? Have a day off from work on which we can be lazy, go to the beach or lake or shopping mall to catch the big sales, like Memorial Day & 4th of July have become? To those who say, well, I do good deeds every day, I don't need a politician to tell me to do it on this day, well, I am glad

Sounds exactly like what I had in the Spring, and I had it for 2 weeks. I'd feel better, go back to work, but wouldn't make it through a whole day before it came roaring back. Turns out I had a sinus infection AND bronchitis at the same time, Ask the doc for a scrip for Tessalon Perles (Benzonatate). It controls the cough (OTC stuff only helped for about 5 minutes at a time) Once I got that, I could actually get some rest, which meant I could actually start getting well. It makes some people jumpy, but it was a lifesaver for me.... Whatever you end up with, hope you feel better.

I saw this when I was in England in 2000. Still my all time favorite... (one of these days I'll actually figure out how to insert an actual video )

Where Were You on 9-11-01, When You Heard About the Twin Towers?

Was in my classroom on my planning block talking to another teacher who had come by to borrow my computer, he didn't have one in his trailer. One of my team members came down to tell us about the first plane, it didn't really register just what had happened, we thought it was an accident. We all went into another teacher's classroom, he had the TV on so his class could watch it. Once I realized what was going on, I heard myself saying that the building was going to fall. Not 2 minutes later, it did. I have never seen such a quiet group of high schoolers, or high school teachers for that matter -

I don't get it. Why is this such a hard concept for people to grasp? Not only do people have valuable stuff in their car, but they leave it out in plain sight, AND leave the car unlocked...and are so shocked when it gets stolen I don't leave stuff in my car, but I still lock it. Heck I even lock it when it's in the garage

East didn't play last night. Alot of them were at the McEachern game. I was selling tickets at the main gate, we were all commenting on how every single Paulding kid who came to the window was so polite, and so good natured when we teased them about being there...lots of yes ma'ams, no ma'ams, thank yous, and big smiles....looking forward to having them back at McEachern on the 18th.

With that many kids, when do they find the time (or the privacy!) Whenever I hear of women who have an unusually high number of kids (I'm Catholic, so I know more than my fair share!), I think of my grandmother. She used to call such women "Fertile Myrtles"

furniture restoration is like therapy for me. wouldn't be good therapy to try to teach someone to do it, I might get a student just like me...
