  1. I'm in New Hope and have been awake since about 4:00am, did we dodge a bullet, because the weather hasn't been bad here? A little thunder, some lightening and a good amount rain, but nothing that I would consider severe.
  2. Honestly, I'd rather appear racist than to die of ebola. But if the majority of the people in the place where this is coming from are black and they are the ones transmitting it, how in the He!! can it be racist to keep them out? If this originated in Asia or Europe and they kept eating 'bush' meat and keeping infected dead bodies, would that be racist too? I don't care what color your skin is, if this is coming from your part of the world, you need to stay there until it's under control. Apparently, common sense doesn't translate to just any and everyone.
  3. I do care packages and up until this year, I teamed up with the art teacher at Abney and sent cards to the troops made by her art classes. She'd take a whole week and make it a project with all of her classes to draw/paint/write a card and they were fantastic. Then I would batch them and mail them. But she moved out of state and I haven't had a chance to speak with the new teacher about continuing. Talking to a recruiter is a good idea and I think that there are offices in Hiram. Thanks!
  4. MEEEEE TOOOOO!!!! Who would have thought? Hubby has already been told to expect a long day tomorrow, I don't like that about storms, but the OT doesn't suck!
  5. What is wrong with these people? The ones taking the bribes AND the ones wanting to keep an infected bodies? Are people really this backwards?
  6. I agree on a certain level with that, but when I first began talking to someome about this at the air show, that's what they were asking for and since I'm a pretty good baker, I was all in. Maybe things changed. Apparently, I don't sit well with rejection. I hope so. And KUDOS to your dad!!!
  7. And a big, immature baby. His sponsors and family most be so proud.
  8. Just like I said, just because someone has a fever and a stomach ache doesn't mean they have ebola. And the fact that they put a patient in isolation as a precaution, was the smart thing to do. On a grand scale, it means nothing.
  9. For the past 4 years I've tried to become involved with the USO. We went to an air show at Dobbins and they seemed to be recruiting for greeters, bakers, sandwich makers, etc., for different locations around GA including Hartsfield. You can go online and fill out info and they get back to you. The first 2 rejections I received was because they needed no more help 'at this time'. OK. Then I got no response. OK. Well, my last email from them has closed the books on any volunteer work I might do with them. 'Thank you for your interest in the USO, but at this time monetary donations are appreci
  10. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear, all some people do is complain about the government butting in their business. Whether it's taxes, vaccinating their children, education, insurance, etc., and then suddenly they aren't involved enough??? Seriously?! Either you want government interference or you don't, you can't pick and choose when the situation suits you.
  11. I keep hearing that she 'broke protocol' and that's what led to her being infected. But they have yet to say how protocol was broken and are swearing up and down that she had on all of the protective gear required. As far as I'm concerned, you can't have it both ways, either she was protected and followed procedure to the letter or she didn't. They need to come clean and explain how this happened. And once again, if I were a healthcare provider, there isn't enough money in the world to get me to work with an ebola patient. Is that callous? Maybe. Do I care more about my safety and the saf
  12. I'll bet we're thinking about the same place in Little 5 Points and I can't remember the name either. Fat lotta good we're doing anyone!!
  13. It's been that way at that Martins as long as I can remember. We eat there once in a blue moon and have never waited in that line and won't, but people LOVE their biscuits and they love them from Martins. Our favorite biscuits are at the Chevron station on the corner of Ivy Gulledge and Old Cartersville and it's only a half a mile from our house. YUUUM!! They have every kind of biscuit you can imagine, hot link, country ham, bologna, tenderloin, etc., and they all rock.
  14. Just because someone is quarantined with 'ebola like symptoms', doesn't mean that they have it. There have been more than several people exhibiting similar symptoms and haven't had it. What would you have them do?
  15. Weeeeeell, added to the fact that I'm a cynical old broad may cloud my vision at times.
  16. First of all, alcohol isn't against the law. Vices? REALLY? You believe that meth is a vice or heroin? That's absurd.
  17. It's still past questionable to me that IF he really was sick, why didn't he just tell them, 'Hey, I have TB and I don't want to make you sick, so I'm going over here to live'. But instead, he simply vanished and abandoned his family with no words of warning and then miraculously lived for another 18 years? I'm not buying his actions OR his story.
  18. What a scary, close call! I'm thankful the outcome wasn't very different. We take baby asperin everyday along with our vitamins. Hopefully if anything ever happens to either of out hearts, it will have helped.
  19. There used to be someone called Sanders Handyman (I think) that did things like this. I tried to lookup his info wiht no luck. Maybe someone else can help with contact info.
  20. College football shouldn't even be on the White House radar. Ever.
  21. And the White House doesn't have bigger fish to fry? Give me a break, the White House, seriously? Long story short; don't break the rules and you won't get suspended.
