I also can see a need to somehow regulate the use of cell phones on the roadways. Sadly, it would seem that MANY do. We have laws against exceeding the speed limit to protect the public on the roadways, right? I see people WAY in excess with no penalty every day. We have laws against child abuse, right? Children die every day from abuse. We have laws against domestic abuse, murder, theft...right? How's that working out? As a commuter, I wish there was some way to make people be responsible. The fact is, there isn't, and new laws will do little to deter those who will behave dangerously or recklessly no matter what legislation is passed.

My MIL is a quilter. She and my FIL have been traveling around to craft shows, selling her handmade quilts for extra income. AGREED!!! The nutritional value isn't horrible, but it's not all that great, either! The worst part is thee sodium content. It's disgusting! But, when it was a cheap lunch and I knew less about nutrition than I do now, I could have made worse choices. But for the sodium content, they compare with many other lunch items. But I agree--I would avoid them now, and I do. They are the instant version of fast food. But they are cheap and many people eat them, especially kids. NOW I'd be more concerned about the sodium content than whether or not the container might tip.

ADDING: This comes from a Mom who fed her three kids PLENTY Cup Of Noodles throughout the years who also had the SENSE to know that they were HOT when first cooked and had enough knowledge of Physics to put them in a separate bowl to disperse the heat so that they could cool before her kids tried to eat them. I was pretty good at that Physics thing, and I also rocked that "personal responsibility" thing which, by the way, I also taught my kiddos as their noodles cooled enough to eat without causing them injury.

Oh yes, you are. Or at the least, you're incredibly challenged by clear and simple though processes. And physics would be beyond anyone capable of clear and simple thought. I'm all for a redesign. In fact, I think it's a GOOD idea. But that doesn't negate parental responsibility in ensuring that children aren't exposed to hot substances. The BEST option is for RESPONSIBLE ADULTS to prepare the food for the minor children (imagine that concept?) and to serve the prepared food to the kids outside of the inadequate container it was nuked in. It's almost cute that you didn't understand that the revised design wasn't better than the original. The redesign is as problematic as the original...did you even read the whole thing? The onus of responsibility still comes down to the people who should have enough sense to protect children from really hot things which the adults know are HOT. Hot things are hot. Responsible adults should ensure that small children don't have access to HOT things. It has nothing to do with product design. OK...SO... I did due diligence and scuttled off to read your link. The article expressed your equal indignation that these soups were HOT after they were cooked. Even if you don't nuke them in the microwave, the INSTRUCTIONS call for you to pour boiling water over the noodle/fake meat/seasoning mixture. Truly, NOT healthy food. But you know what? Because I studied Literature as a student, I have read SO MANY novels, and I have so many I LOVE!! The Turn of the Screw is a personal fave--a very tiny novel (almost a novella) but so FULL of thought as you read and after-- But my FAVORITE novel ever is Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. No, I am of the mindset that warnings on the packages are sufficient. If folks would TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for their use of products, no extra precautions would be necessary. The soup containers are CLEARLY marked. I feel for anyone injured in their use...but at the same time...it becomes the consumer's responsibility at the point of purchase to heed the warnings on product labels at the point of purchase provided that the company producing the product has anticipated NORMAL USE of said product. There's no doctor's warning that could ever approximate parental supervision. My kids LOVED these soups when I was a starving college student, and not a single one of the three ever suffered a serious injury. But they were never left unsupervised to cook a cup-of-noodles on their own. DUH.

Was half of pcom there? We saw it, too. The three people were young--teenagers, it looked like. And, they had the K9 unit there, and they were searching the toolbox in the truck bed as we drove by.

See, I think she gets it. I just think she was so disappointed tonight. She was heartbroken, and it was so hard to watch! But before the show ended, you could see she was going to be OK. And she told Nicole--"It's OK...whatever you choose." I think she gets it. I'm sure Simon MUST have prepared her. It just felt so unfair. Marcus was mediocre at best in his sing-off performance, and that was Rachel's BEST performance on the show. She can leave with her head held high. What an adorable little girl!!
