My husband called me about 15 minutes ago, stuck in that mess on Thornton. He said traffic wasn't moving and that yes, they are turning folks around. I had hoped to get out that way soon myself. So if anyone knows when it's cleared, please post it!

I read it...and it says both..that they protest because: "Westboro Baptist, a small church in Topeka, pickets at funerals of military veterans and people who have died of AIDS because its members say their deaths are God's punishment for America's tolerance of homosexuality. Salon reported that a flier posted by the church on its website regarding the Tucson protest declared "God hates Catholics" -- the little girl's family is Catholic -- and "God Hates Fags." The church website also features a video with founder/pastor Fred Phelps thanking God for the deadly shootings

I'm the second of six, but I was the youngest for 15 years. So I really don't know how any birth order scenario would apply to me.

I was alluding only to physical appearance, and not in any way to character or motivation. And just so one thinks I'm a horrid person...sometimes it helps to laugh if possible. I mean no disrespect to his victims or his family. Thanks.

Do you personally know what they did or didn't do? Because *I* sure don't. I've heard they tried to help him, but they didn't realize the extent of his illness. I'm sure they are blaming themselves plenty without others joining in the blame game.

If he has a mental illness (I suspect paranoid schizophrenia), then perhaps their influence was genetic...but otherwise, no, they aren't necessarily and automatically "responsible."
