That was what I was thinking...Not good news when hurricanes hit the gulf.

Less houses and more JOBS!!!

I asked DH about BootCamp...He was in the same building I was in...We were in Bootcamp at the same time. He said they had a few closed showers with open ones...So it was a free for all to get to the closed ones. I guess one of the perks of being a female. In Army Basic Training, when we were doing the 4 day camping..They brought us in for showers unlike the men...Us ladies have to be clean or we will get sick IYKWIM.

Yeah you were at the wrong base..Plenty of Marines lived off base when I was in.
-
I made Phili Cheese Steaks and Chocolate Bread Pudding.

Wasn't when I was in. I did Army and Navy Basic Training and Bootcamp. We would dress in front of other members, but the shower had its own separate stalls and curtains for privacy. When I was first living in Barracks..I had 2 room mates and each room had their own bathroom. I don't know why you guys are trying to argue with me...When I lived it. Now the only thing I can point out is that I am a woman...Less women in the military...So men probably do have to see each other while showering Any male VETS or Active duty want to chime in

I never said I was an expert, I am just around the military right now so I share what I see and live

That just shows how out of touch you are with the current situation...With the economy the way it is, they are having no problem in recruiting, its just not that easy to get into the service anymore..They are making you come to them and they are still blowing you off, I know this from first hand experience, someone on base has a son that made a 82 0n his ASVAB and is still having a hard time getting in the military. And like when I would do ck ins at my desk rarely did I see a brand new Sailor married and cking in. A communal shower...Even when I was in basic training and bootcamp, I had

I will go by what I currently see and lived. I didn't have to get married to live out in town. If that is the only reason you decide to get married, very immature reason and that is reason alone not to get married. So DGITW knows and speaks for all just because your daughter got married? Barge? That isn't barracks??????? I know of girls getting pregnant to avoid deployments but that is another matter.

LOL they are coming to my area too...Let me know if it is worth going to see them.
-
The Navy...I'm living around it right now..And if there is space available single mbrs can live in base housing with room mates. Also they can go live out in town...You don't have to be married to get out of the barracks...I lived out in town before I got married.

NO kidding...If I want to be around someone that is truly important and EARNED my Respect...I'll head over to the CMC or 3STAR's house. People who serve 30+ years in the military......... -
So what I am getting from this is when I visit Boston, don't tell any southern or northern jokes RIGHT?

I didn't/don't see many 18 year olds getting married...That would include my son..WOW way to young. Some are still in school till they are E-3's...From what I see the higher ranking military have the wives that work...Most reasons being not so much for money but because the kids are in school and we including myself don't have to pay the high cost of childcare. I was 22 and DH was 20 when we got married, both of us were E-4's at the time..Didn't have a baby till 4 years later. ITA about people can move...And you can move where the jobs are with a house..Put it up for rent that is what

Most don't get married till at least an E-4 or E-5...A E-5 makes roughly 48K-54K a year on average..And if you add on the free Healthcare that would be on average an extra 10-12K a year. So yes, if you have kids most wives stay home..Childcare isn't cheap....

I stopped shopping there after they stopped mailing me my $10.00 for $10.00 coupons.

Going on the 3rd and coming back on the 5th...I wish I could stay longer but Boston is $$$$$ I didn't even think about Salem, I would like to do that. I did make reservations for a rental car (we are flying in) but DH said we could just take the subway to get around. Is the Freedom Trail worth it? I booked the Double tree that is close to it.

I think they are playing the Yankees and it is sold out...My son so wanted to go! Thanks for all of the tips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
