Me and DH support each other, we can relate to what each other is going thru. And we will be there for our son. I had to be the strong one for my kids when he was away. It is def harder when you aren't in a military town. Now when I talk to locals about my son going away their eyes glaze over, they just cant relate. Thank goodness for facebook. I don't know anything about the Airforce and I need support and advice from other Moms. You and me should be best buddies then, or do the politics always get in the way of that

Believe me they will get help. But that is politics lets rip on the military and GOVT workers, they are the ones that it hits the hardest. You also get 250K at least for insuarance. I don't remember the exact amount and DH is sleeping so I cant ask him right now. ETA it is 400K. Military we are all family and we take care of each other. He got arrested? I remember sitting one row across from him on a plane last March. He was sitting in business and not first class. Gotta give him credit for that. The people on the plane that knew who he was really seemed to like the guy and be in awe of him.

Just noticed this... Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) FURLOUGH UPDATE All NAVAIR HQ employees should return to work tomorrow, Monday Oct 7, unless otherwise notified. Those who will not be recalled will be contacted today with further info. Legislation may be enacted to provide back pay for furloughed employees, to include restoration of leave. However, this cannot be done until the shutdown ends. Keyword MAY................

We told him to go Coast Guard or Air Force. Coast Guard is at least 18 month wait. Air Force is still a wait, about 9 months total for him so far. I am just glad he has his school before he ships out, that is why the wait was a little longer for him. Everything Air Force seems to be about school he will get 30 College Credits just for his school after Basic. Every thing seems to be all about AA degree in the Airforce. Air Force just treats their people better etc it costs alot of money to keep ships running in the Navy thus the bases aren't as nice etc. Ahh you were there on Chri

WOW! It isn't def yet all of them will get their pay. Unemployment barely pays your mortgage and I'm not sure where you come up with the furlough part....If you have a civilian job (not talking GOVT here NORMAL people as you put it....Not really sure why they are normal but GS isn't) and get laid off AKA furlough you get unemployment....It is no fault of you, if you company cuts back. Once again I don't understand the hate towards GS and Contractors on here. The politicians shut the GOVT and it seems to be OK to hate on the GOVT workers....................SMH

Nothing like filling out school physical and other forms where they ask for insurance numbers. The insurance number is DH SSN. I only put the last 4. I'm not giving that info out. If my child has to go to the hosp....And I cant be with them, they can call me or send me a bill. AH yes the HORRIBLE UNIONS It was probably some of those loser CONTRACTORS....................

I'm so confused......I know I read on PCOM that minimum wage jobs were for students living with their parents and it wasn't a living wage. It was a job that you start out with and if you stay in that job you have no ambition or blah blah they went on about it.
