Believe it or not your cholesterol can be to low...If it is, it is a sign of other health problems..Even my sister who is a nurse said the same thing about her husband my BIL. And the reason BIL is so healthy is because he eats to much..Thus the weight situation but he eats healthy..Lots of lean proteins and veggies...No processed CARBS...To me that explains why a HEAVY person can still be healthy.

About the surgery..I would make things like Pork loin and Roast beef...They freeze well..Learned this just by having left overs..Freeze the left over gravy..He could then make open faced sandwiches or BBQ Beef sandwiches etc. Have him pick up a Roasted chicken from Wallyworld for a somewhat homemade meal.
