  1. Saying that carrying weapons in churches would present a unreasonable risk of harm to people that assemble, the court upheld GA's ban on weapons in the eight specified places currently in the law. A wise move. There are some places where guns shouldn't be allowed because the presence of the gun escalates the risk that something bad can happen, and the public has a expectation of low risk in certain public places. 2. I don't have a dog in this fight but I can say if the ruling was against me after all that had gone on, I wouldn't jump on here for some time in order to simply digest it all. I hardly think this silence deserves such interpretation add anything more. Maybe they already had plans today. Could be anything. Let's give the benefit of the doubt for a day or two.
  3. I thought we wanted people to get involved in the political process to make changes when they see a problem. Didn't Reagan do that? If this law needs changing, wouldn't Mrs Morrison, of all people, know first hand that there is a law that needs fixing? Based on what I've read on here, wouldn't that be a reason to get in the race since no other representative is doing anything about an injustice?
  4. Wait. Maybe I'm missing something but how can a state representative fire a county attorney?
  5. Sometimes it is legal to steal. From what I know about it, this maybe an example where it is just that. You can't fight the system. You can't win against politics. Disgusting what is done in the name of the law.
  6. I don't want casino gambling either. That is a whole 'nuther animal than the lottery, and the former has fangs and a very bad disposition.
  7. The lottery funds the educational opportunities for those children to get out of the cycle their parents are in. Without HOPE, those kids have zero chance of breaking that cycle and will always bee in poverty. Education is the key and gateway to a better life. We either pay to educate now or we pay for welfare and prisons later.
  8. And since it it's legal and has been for almost 40 years, why even waste the time, money and energy? It's just the politicians playing on our emotions to get votes. Disgusting.
  9. Costs go up every year. Why doesn't the county raise taxes to keep up with the increase in operation cost? Isn't that what a prudent business manager would do?
  10. Some people just look for doom and gloom. More people are traveling to Europe since the dollar is very high compared to the euro. That means real deals. The room rates at vacation destinations are still up there. People are still traveling. Still buying. Still living.
  11. No court has ruled that way. None. So your idea is waaaaaay outside the mainstream.
  12. But in the meantime, those bigots have managed to amend state constitutions to codify their bigotry, making it difficult to remove said bigotry for decades to come.
  13. Classic opportunity to bash paulding.com and you surely didn't disappoint. Come on here. Bash someone. Fein forethought when called on it. Bash on paulding.com when people don't agree. Leave with a self righteous post. Typical.
  14. Let's change this to "bash muslims and insult masses of people"and watch the double standard fly. Or "bash gays and insult masses of people." Insert whatever group. The result of the double standard I'd the same.
  15. Being a CEO of a company and a nation are two completely different things. If someone insists on using business analogies, then let's use real business analogies. If costs keep going up (and they do) then a responsible CEO is going to raise the prices to increase profit in order to keep the business operating. Would McDonalds still be in business of they sold Big Macs at $1.05? Likewise with a government that has to raise taxes and fees in order to keep up with the costs that go up each year. Taxation is not the answer but taxes and fees are part of the total equation.
  16. A responsible CEO would have kept the revenue stream on pace with the increase in operating costs.
  17. It's not a choice no more than your sexuality is a choice. Consenting adults harm no one. Pedophilia harms a child and the child is not capable of acting as an adult. Animals cannot act as a consenting adult either. Comparing acts that harm people to what is a loving relationship between 2 people is not being reasonable.
  18. The problems in Scranton go back decades. The article has lots of information that you may want to know in order to speak intelligently about three topic.
  19. No. It's an illegal act. The police and fire union have sued. But the Mayor said there is no money so go ahead. Oh. He did give 2 days notice.
  20. The budget in Scranton is so bad that the mayor cut every city employee's salary to minimum wage in the last pay check. All people, including himself, police, fire, sanitation, clerks, everyone. The Mayor and City Council have been fighting over the budget for years. Unwilling to raise taxes, the Mayor said this was his only option. I knew several people who worked for Scranton when I was a kid in PA. Hope this is resolved soon. My link
  21. I have an old wind up clock that needs fixing. It is 30 years old. Anyone know someone?
  22. Voting YES. We pay a little now because in the future it will cost much, much more.
  23. I never said it was possible. I don't even believe it is possible to change one's sexual orientation. The studies were from Christian schools trying to test the claims of many Christians that one's sexual orientation could be changed. Why is this important? 1. Because many people still think it is possible to pray enough and the gay goes away. It's ignorant, but many still think that. 2. Because 10%-18% of the American population cannot marry the person they love in most states, and the only reason they cannot is due to this ignorance. 3. Because it shows once more this is
