Tebow has his reward - The attention that he gets from making a public spectacle of himself. This isn't about people of faith - what they believe is their own business. It's about posers. That's the fundamental difference between him and Pat Robertson. Robertson's a con man, who throws out quasi-religious BS and gets people to send him their last dollar on the promise that it's going to benefit the sender in a -- supernatural way. A fool and his money are soon parted. That's the Robertson story. Tebow -- it's all about posing for the cameras. No cameras - No posing.

Thanks for illustrating my point. It's not just PCOMMERS who can read posts from here. Try it yourself - Copy and paste your first line into a Google search and see who all can read where you will be for the holidays. You may have to wait until this afternoon for it to go out on the internet. It's just a word to the wise, because there's no upside, no benefit in telling everyone where you're going to be! Ditto that recent Twitter thing where people post exactly where they are at all times.
-
What people don't understand is that this information is discoverable. It's likely that in previous posts people have told others what subdivision they live in. A lot of people LINK their PCOM account to their Facebook account, complete with their personal phone number and email address abd picture. And, here's the cautionary tale - It has happened before, where people gave out too much information here and were burglarized.

You don't understand the lack of wisdom of telling every stranger in the world when your house will be empty over the holidays?
-
I'm pretty sure that this is information that doesn't need to go out over the internet! People should be especially cautious in providing this kind of information to, well, everyone in the world!

Because they were just now booked into the jail doesn't mean that the killing happened recently - even this month. This could have been the culmination of a long investigation where only now sufficient evidence has been made available to give cause for an arrest warrant to be issued.

Aren't you contradicting what you had just said? I'd be fine with local government saying that grocery stores (for instance) couldn't provide plastic bags. I don't know how government could tell me that I couldn't personally use a plastic bag to put my possessions in.

Could it be that the overweight people have self-esteem issues and are likely to accept lower pay? Since the lower pay is disproportionately disadvantageous to females, is it fair to say that there is likely to be some discrimination going on here?

That's high praise. I'm glad that you get that much meaning from these lyrics. I'll stick with my #1 favorite: "You don't know lonely -- Til it's chiseled in stone" Vern Gosdin

I pick "neither A nor B." It wasn't good comedy and it wasn't in poor taste. I think that they could have parodied the Tebow/Jesus thing more effectively than a locker-room pep talk by jesus. I think that it fell flat, with no zingers, no laughs out loud.

Oh - so THAT'S what a "Flash Mob" is. I thought that they were going to be flashing something else.

Sure! That makes plenty of sense! There are many more factors that go into attractiveness than just physical beauty. Those things that you are attracted to now? Those are the things that last! A strong character - A help-mate - A partner - A friend - A companion- A one-person support system! . In the real world, these are the things that we need. These are the things that matter.

Mr. Dis - You're being intentionally obtuse. To do otherwise would be to adopt a cooperative spirit and it would indicate a desire for real understanding. For whatever reason, you're not up to a reasonable and rational discussion of current events and the dynamics that generate them. I have better things to do with my time than to thoughtfully consider the present state of things and analyze why things are the way that they are, only to have you launch into an episode of name-calling and other insults and then feign misunderstanding so that you can avoid a real conversation of the issue becau

LTD's "logic" involves declarative statements that are phrased so authoritatively that people with poor comprehension levels just buy what he says (I don't know definitively that LTD's a "he"). Take, for example, what he/she said here: [" Point blank, "Wall Street" couldn't buy influence if Washington wasn't selling it. We as a country of laws, cannot stop Wall Street from buying"] Sounds authoritative, but factually inaccurate. The problem isn't that we can't make laws that keep people from bribing legislators - Of course we can!! We make laws that prohibit other kinds of bribery and quid-pr

Mr Dis - You are mixing up your terminology. You talk "middle class" and then talk "rich". Shouldn't the next step up from "middle class" be "upper middle class" or "upper class"? The point that I made, which you completely ignored was "cause and effect". Mr. Obama, according to the article that you provided, apparently MENTIONED the figure of $250K as an example of a salary that most people would call "rich". That (pay attention, now, we're coming back to "cause and effect") reference (cause) never made its way into legislation (effect). The article that you referenced was from 2009. I'd th

You're talking about an arbitrary definition of "rich" or "wealthy". Where did that come from? The topic is "middle class". What does the definition of "middle class" have to do with the arbitrary figures 200K or 250K (President Obama offered both figures as the threshold of "wealthy"?) Now, President Obama IS your President. That part of the equation you have no control over. Like it, don't like it -- doesn't matter. I asked the question way back about what people would do to get rid of this President and most that answered, said "anything" including letting the country go downhill for

Mr. Dis - If you don't know who "they" are -- You know -- the ones making the assertion that the middle class is defined in this way -- And -- if the assertion is just a statement by somebody and the numbers have no ACTUAL meaning (they won't be the basis for legislation) Why in the world would you keep repeating an unfounded statement, possibly someone's opinion -- as if it were true??? And you take the numbers and run with them and act as though somebody's arbitrary numbers equals a real-life SITUATION?? 200K is a made up number. So is 250K, especially as they relate to the to

I understand that the "they" is irrelevant. That's what makes repeating it (what "they" said) as if it were true so goofy!

I didn't see any of the previous mess - I'm glad, too that Sgt. cleaned it up so that we could have a substantial discussion, sharing our insights. You're a smart chick with some interesting viewpoints!

Here's what's important, I think - It's important to know what positive attributes to look for, but one shouldn't expect the positives to mimic the positive attributes of the previous person. Likewise, while one knows of what negative attributes to watch out for, being hypervigilant frequently means that one is carrying baggage from the last relationship. One should carry forward the wisdom gained the previous relationship, but one needs to leave the remnants of the relationship itself behind. I suppose that's when one knows that he or she is ready to move forward. There are several deal

While codependent and dysfunctional relationships are technically functional - That's no way to live a life, imo. It's great that this lady discovered the key to the door of freedom and self-actualization.

That's a really interesting twist on the phenomenon - A person who worries about herself being tempted, so she tries to make herself undesirable. Or at least that's what she says. If there's a psychological dimension to this that involves psychological abuse to the point that this is what the hubby has told her and now she's repeating it as if it's a fact that she's resigned to - I'm not sure that anyone could untangle that knot! Remember - he's the one buying the high fat/high calorie foods for her. On the other hand, now that she's in this condition, she may just be rationalizing and using t

But this is my point - YOU are one of the ones quoting figures that are found nowhere in legislation. You're doing this to make rhetorical points, but your use of abitrary figures mentioned by someone else undermines any shred of legitimacy. Essentially, it's the spreading of rumors as facts and building your case on those rumors. My point of that situation being nonsensical, even farcical is evidenced in your own words, above, in bold print. You're one of the ones, saying this over and over - So I guess the question is -- why do you want others to believe it (the 200K figure)? Wouldn't it mak
