Subby, did you forget to display the rules of the game? All I saw was the word, "opposites". If you always do opposites, you won't get anywhere, it seems..... Maybe I just missed something?

Years ago, I wrote a story about a judgmental person who died and went to hell. His punishment was all of those things that he railed against in life. It's too racy to put on this site, but it's very funny. The dung beetle transmigration is an interesting concept, too. But it would only be fitting if Pat had the awareness that his "beetleness" was due to his pushing dung on his followers in his human life.
-
Wouldn't it be awkward if there really were a "heaven" and Pat had to face those people whose lives he had condemned?
-
Old Pat doesn't have anything living inside of him except for maybe a cancer that's eating him up. When his time is up, it won't be "god's vengeance", it'll be "god calling him home". It's interesting that he didn't take that attitude toward the Haitians who died. He didn't say that "God was just calling them home a little early". But be sure that Pat's grace will be sufficient for Pat when it's his time (I'm predicting later this year).

How can one person be so out of touch with humanity as to denigrate the Haitian people in their time of misery? That old curmudgeonly bustard has the nerve to say that it's the fault of of the citizens of Haiti that the tectonic plates shifted? Of course it's not true, but the lack of compassion for a hurting nation is astounding. It's not too different from the people who heckle funerals! If there were a heaven that held jerks like Robertson and Jerry Falwell -- that would indeed be hell! The fact that millions follow his ministry is a sad commentary on the state of the soul of Am

Go to FastRead Page, click on "Business Directory" Look for the word, "Search" in the box that pops up. To the left are the business categories. Click on your category of interest and all of the Biz Members in that category come up. (The FastRead page is at the top left of this page, just under the PCOM icon) -
Simply for fun (not for Perv's) ....so having said that...

While I don't really know what a "jack leg" (one leg higher than the other?) is -- I'll be supportive and agree with the description, confident that YOU know what it is! The nature of a negative person is one who wants to bring others down. In his pathetic, sociopathic world, he does others a FAVOR by bringing a dose of reality to them. He can't stand to see others with a smile on their faces because he regards it as oblivion to the bad things in life. Of course, he has no social skills, because there no capacity for empathy. He can't just see others having a good time and be glad for -

That's me, too, LPPT. Except mine stay on year 'round! -
I think that the answer to ignoring people who have displayed rudeness is to adhere to the model of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything". There will always be those who attempt to get a rise out of people just for their own warped sense of humor and/or lack of social skills. I don't need an "ignore" button. I'm quite capable of never engaging that individual in conversation!

news break! what a shocker! McGwire admits to taking juice
eym_sirius replied to FreeBird's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I stopped watching professional sports when the athletes starting striking for more pay. It became obvious, through time, that the stars of the last two decades had been juicing. I think that they became empowered to the point that they thought that they were above the law and above the rules of the game. They were. McGwire testified before Congress and was not required to answer "yes" or "no" to the question of steroid use. Baseball was, and is, like AIG - too big to fail. Sports fans will continue to pay exorbitant prices to attend the contests, nevermind the fact that professio -

Thanks to those who choose jobs of service to others
eym_sirius replied to MissSophie's topic in RECENT TOPICS
With regard to "looking down one's nose" at another for his service position, I learned a great lesson about this, firsthand. I had been working in the business world, looking to get back into teaching. The teaching job that I was hired for was to start in the middle of the school year, in January. So I worked as a substitute teacher for December. I was called by a principal, with what he called, "a strange request". He asked if I would sub for the custodian! I thought that it would be something different and as long as I was getting teacher sub pay -- okay. So as a college-grad with a -
LadyBug - I was going to let your comments pass as your blowing off steam - until you used the term, "hate crime". "Hate Crimes" are offenses that have meaning in legal parlance, their definitions having not the first thing to do with animals. Animals have no legal standing in the court. They have no rights, they are parties to no contracts under the law. In the first place, it's my understanding that the young man in question has not been proven guilty in this matter. Secondly, you seem hell-bent on teaching a person from an affluent background a lesson, partly due to that affluent back

Why would you have this fantasy? The assumption that you're making is that harming animals is passed down from generation to generation. It's likely that his parents did not abuse animals. Trying to dehumanize him by calling him a "piece of excrement" is counterproductive, I think. The reality is that this is not a throwaway young man, just because he acted on his violent fantasy. And it's in the best interest of society to regard him as having worthwhile potential. Why you have sterilization fantasies - that's between you and your therapist.....

This is a terrific idea! Kids need to learn about their own humanity and the compassion that they should extend to domestic animals - the earlier, the better! Included in that lesson should be an empathy toward the pet owner, who desires a pet to receive his/her affection. This is an important piece of the puzzle, because even people who do not have or want pets should try to be understanding of those who DO love animals in this way.

No doubt he has issues. I think that the Constitutional mandate to "promote the general welfare" should be considered before sending this youngster to mingle with hard-core adults. In some prisons, there is a social requirement (because the "society" is set by the inmates) to align with a group - a gang. How are the interests of society being advanced if this young fellow emerges a lifetime (however short the life) criminal and thug? My assertion is that this was a cry for help, because how could he, if he were rational, think that he could get away with this crime? He needs institutional

I wish that you were capable of more! Are you sure that three frowny faces are sufficient? Doesn't this matter merit at least four? The point is that you have something to say, but you don't know how to say it, or you think that it would come out wrong, possibly? Or maybe you've not fully considered the issue of animal cruelty, not fully thought out exactly how you feel about what should happen to offenders, young offenders who deliberately inflict pain on domestic animals - even pets? Now is the time, I say. Invest a little mental energy into - solutions to the problem. Education? There'

I think that the problem of animal cruelty is one that is serious enough to merit serious, real-life discussion of the problem. For too long, I think, people have dismissed intentional cruelty to domesticated animals, because they don't want to have to consider, in depth, the troubled mind of the offender. It's easy to say, "I wish he'd have THAT done to him", because it requires no real energy, no REAL insight into a REAL problem in our society. Maybe some people aren't capable of anything but a mob mentality. But how do you go from being a kindly, beneficial member of society to a "venge

He's a juvenile;I hope that the judge sentences him to work in an animal shelter for the length of his sentence (assuming that he's found guilty). And that sentence assumes that he's not crazy. This acting-out may be a good thing, because many sadists that graduate to more horrific crimes are not found out until they've played their cruel fantasies out on people. He need help and closely supervised probation after his jail/service time - To make sure that he doesn't act on these fantasies again. During that period of time, he shouldn't be allowed to own any of a number of items that could be u

There you go again, making a silly statement based on faulty logic. Because there was a climate change associated with the demise of dinosaurs, that doesn't mean that the causative or contributing factors regarding climate change are related! Whether information/data is included in reports on the environment doesn't mitigate the indisputable evidence that shows the reality of global warming. Reality is unaffected by politics. In the case of global warming/climate change -- I think that the answer to it is one that is a political hot-potato. The climate is changing, but I don't think that t

There are two things here. One is the OP's rather ridiculous supposition that global warming, which has been widely documented with scientific evidence - is discounted by individual accounts of season coolness. Even most of the radical right wing will admit the scientific evidence that is glaringly obvious by the data. Their position, though, is that this is a natural occurence, not one that is man-made. They use as evidence, previous global climate change episodes and point to the fact that human populations had no effect on these changes, and that the global temperature patterns were cau
-
Of course, you understand that global warming doesn't mean that we will not have cold weather patterns and seasonal cold spells. "Global" change cannot be discounted by various individual accounts of seasonal cold. The polar ice caps continue to recede. The average global temps are still averaging up. Attempting to show that there's not a global climate trend by showing individual examples of seasonal coolness is like saying that we weren't experiencing an economic downturn because an individual stock gained ground one week during the recession.
