Can't find it around here ... but I do remember someone posting about a place to take old phone books. Got a bunch I would prefer to recycle than just trash. Thought it was on S. Hwy 61, New Georgia area? Do you know where?

Does anyone know where I can get a really cheap (or free) baby gate? No, we are not expecting but do need to block a staircase to the basement for our eldest dog. He has severe arthritis, doesn't walk really steadily, and we are getting nervous that his hips will collapse and he might tumble down on accident. We can't block/close the door on these stairs as the cats must get down there. Do not care the condition of the gate or age or anything else -- just must be able to block the stairs. TIA!

I'm in for the night .... going to have a nice dinner, a "bit of" wine, maybe a slight soaking in the tub and (I hope) a night of restful sleep. Lights and visiting sounds good, just not possible for me .... safe travels!

sounds like it to me .... something very "snuggly" and quiet and secure. your story just reminded me of those chairs -- they tend to provide it "all" when coccooned good luck!

she needs a cube of some sort, not a "tent" .... maybe get her one of those egg shaped chairs with the cushions and you could drape a curtain/blanket over the door --- know what I mean? She is such the character!

Since it is just the two of us, our "tradition" the last couple of years has to: 1. Volunteer at the Animal Shelter on XMAS eve, hopefully find homes. The staff also is volunteering to stay open, lots of the "regular" volunteers show up, plus so many people just to spread a little love and treats to all of the animals who are there. Some wonderful adoptions do happen and lots of hope for all of them 2. Come home and get relaxed, usually into PJs. We have a great seafood dinner, sharing a bottle of white wine with lots of talking, laughing, music and sharing. We open our gifts and stay

How wonderful to hear .... and I'll pass on your "thank you". They are such a great group of individuals who try so hard. Yep ... Only 1 male officer at this time. Don't know about the scanner.

crushing pills into honey is a potential, but I would still get the doctor (having him paged every 5-10 minutes) or go to the ER -- good thoughts your way .... hope he feels better soon (and mommy too). edited: I thought the pharmacy should be able to offer some alternatives but maybe not

chocolate spoons? Chi Tea mix in jar? (along the lines of the cocoa) soup in a jar?

Or get them those items like flannel sheets or big bath towels which are "luxuriant" items. Maybe a heavy micro-fleece type blanket? Items I love! When asked, those are items I put "on the list" in days past. Most items I got when first married were good, but to get a good quality/lasting items it has taken a while. If I just got one "lifetime" knife or new pots (heavy steel) was a treasure! What a wonderful gift!

Yes, I'm sure LPPT gave the best answer she could as I know she would have. I am just wondering about being here longer ... 14K posts and so limited responses, weighing my value and whether to renew or not. As some responders feel around here, do we really want to post/participate/give with no acknowledgement ..... thoughts to ponder even when most do when they don't want to be acknowledged. As far losing items, as long as I don't log out, I don't think I have lost anything yet who knows what tomorrow will bring

No, not really - just know that the city of Dallas doesn't recognize/participate in the rules of the county. The shelter staff (wonderful individuals) will be able to help a whole lot more than I can. If you call and ask, they should get back to you sometime tomorrow as tonight they are closed. Good luck!
