I was going solely on the number provided during the newscast. It was a number a few thousand lower than 38k. Again, I was going on what was presented on the news. That was the whole thrust of the Fox ITeam story! They were simply parroting Jones' reasoning contained in his letters to the DA and Sheriff: The timing and amount of the alleged extortion (a few thousand over what Todd Pownall would need to give back to the county per his campaign promise) were suspect. I in no way think TP misconstrued anything purposefully. However, it was such a gross misrepresentation of the facts (as

First, 38,000 is not the salary. It is 32,600 (or somewhere close). I believe it is important to make the distinction because it changes the narrative to say the salary equals exactly what the alleged extortion amount was. This, according to Mike Jones' letter last week, is what led him to suspect Pownall--given the proximity of amounts. The 38,000 is pretty damn close to the roughly 32k Pownall had yet to donate back to the county per his campaign promise...admittingly making Jones' assertions plausible. TP said: There is no missing money related to this story. Nada

What he 'returned' was actually a campaign promise. A campaign promise to give the county back the salary he had been paid as a post commisioner. And it was 32,600 (roughly?)....not 38,000. I am not taking sides here TP. You apparently think I am arguing for Pownall's side--I'm not. I am just trying to clear what is factual and what is not. It is the only reason I commented in this thread to begin with.

HUH? Just two posts ago you said they should be listening to what he has to say...now he needs to be prosecuted. They weren't reporting the story because they thought Mike Jones had newsworthy info--It was quite the contrary. You realize that right? The report was slanted in Todd's favor and Jones was basically dismissed as unreliable. Second, I never denied anything. I simply cleaned up your sausage factory. You had your facts wrong. Lastly, go to hell, dude.

TP, This has played out for months here on pcom and quite frankly lends to my confusion as to how you aren't putting two and two together. I will let someone else who has the energy and/or fortitude to explain it in detail. All I will say is this isn't a new story and is just a new chapter to what we already knew. The last time the Sheriff and DA took Jones' word--an innocent man was arrested and indicted for crimes he didn't commit (and has since been exonerated).

Ya know, I was curious as to the lack of conversation here about this story. Now that I think about it, The Postman, I think your post speaks a thousand words as to why there is hardly any conversation around here anymore. You took at several minute news clip that is pretty cut and dry and made sausage. I would suggest linking to your sources in the future so folks can get the real story.

You have the story all jacked up dude. This is related to the Mike Jones saga. Nobody is accused of taking money. Todd Pownall was on the list of names Jones ran background checks on. Jones wrote a letter to the Sheriff and DA last week implicating Todd in the alleged extortion attempt against him in 2013. The 38k was the amount that was allegedly asked for in the mysterious text messages Jones received. The DA and Sheriff stated they didn't take Jones' letter and assertions seriously and would not be investigating anything related. You really have the story jacked up.

.38 Special Concert Just Announced -- Dallas GA!
audioslave replied to accesspaulding's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Just an FYI: Donnie Van Zant no longer tours with .38 Special. The graphic used above is quite misleading since it pictures Van Zant in the bottom photo. No way in hell I would pay $20 to see .38 Special without Donnie Van Zant. I didn't pay that much the last time I saw them WITH Van Zant. -
Nebo, Lake Swan Ct. Closed. Police Activity
audioslave replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The call started as an 'active shooter.' SWAT was activated and then called off shortly after. Not sure what the final disposition was. -
I have kind of wondered about price gouging as well given the limited local competition this early. Maybe I'll just make the journey on I20 West.

Who is selling the good stuff around here?

In all seriousness: She is 25, not a teen anymore--and she is making bank. With that said, her situation has nothing to do with teenage pregnancy or the hardships that usually accompany teenage pregnancy. I never thought I would find myself defending anyone in the Palin family, however, in this case I think folks need to live and let live as far as her being pregnant out of wedlock: who cares? As for her abstinence campaign and the mega bucks she was paid for it? Perhaps folks will calculate how many condoms could have been purchased and made accessible to those who are otherwise

Perhaps if it had been a condom campaign she would have had a happier ending? (no pun intended of course... )

Garbage truck takes out south Paulding home
audioslave replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Apparently, the homeowner's insurance company has deemed the house unsafe to live in and put him in a motel. From what I read, engineers are currently trying to figure out how to remove the truck without collapsing the house. Hopefully, the homeowner has retained a skilled lawyer. -
It is not a scorpion and I am fairly certain not an earwig. So, WTH is it?

Ga. Supreme Court reverses Hemy Neuman conviction
audioslave replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The Georgia Supreme Court's decision wasn't motivated by innocence or guilt. This is a case of criminal procedure, and in this particular case, attorney-client privilege. Apparently, the defendant was interview by two separate doctors at the direction of his attorney. The trial judge required the defendant's attorney to turn those findings over to the prosecutors. The Supreme Court of Georgia ruled 6-1 this was a violation of attorney-client privilege. This was a case of court jurisprudence--not whether the defendant was guilty or innocent. -

I am reminded, every two or three minutes, of just how green the grass really is. Not just any grass, green grass. Cut it, water it, walk on it, drive on it; it doesn't matter. The birds don't mind. Woodpeckers, crows, blue jays, cardinals, and even the finch. I mean, if it weren't for the black oil sunflower seeds, who could blame them? It is quite the tryst some days. They flock, mock, hop, nip, tip, and from the sound of that song I would say a random bird quip. Time to time, I call the cows.
