  1. Sorry to have taken so long to get back with everyone. There is a book called the "Cemeteries of Paulding County" published by the Paulding County Historical Society & Museum. See http://pchsm.org However, you may also contact the Paulding County Geological Society as they also have the previously mentioned book as well as other records. Additionally, they have a library open to the public at the old courthouse in Dallas —main street. I have these books but can't get to them at this very moment. There once was a volunteer Commission that monitored and recorded all know
  2. You know I don't really know if you can fish in either lake. I hope you can as I am looking for a lake In Paulding of similar size to fish. Does anyone know more about Gore Lake or Womack Lake? I think their is another lake near by called Willow Springs Lake that seems large enough for fishing. What about another lake in Paulding that can be fished? Thanks!
  3. Has anyone done any fishing at Womack lake or Gore lake on Mt. Olivet Road, west of Dallas? If so, what do you think?
  4. From what I heard...the Health Dept. told them to fix their A/C so the working conditions would be acceptable. The owner did so then laid everyone off. Paid the staff in cash to finish the week out and split the country. He was of Middle Eastern origin so I assume he returned home. He apparently owes money to a few people including the employees. Huddle House is to remain closed until someone else buys it up and throws some money at it. GM86
  5. Over fertilization. Too much of a good thing can be bad for vegetables. They will produce tomatoes but probably won't ripen in time before the first frost. You can buy eight foot stakes at Home Depot to hold them up. Good luck. Steven
  6. Typically, I come on here about early to mid July and take orders. First come, first serve. For what is technically a small patch we get about 30+ gallons each year. However, this year I believe we may open our patch to the public and allow you to pick your blueberries too. It would be cheaper for you to pick them to buy the pre-picked amounts. FYI: We sell our blueberries by the pint, half-gallon, and gallon. Price not yet set. Thanks!
  7. LOL Made my day....! You will be the first if we do.
  8. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Please keep them coming! Well we have blueberries and have thought about expanding them to fill an acre but they are picky about their soil and we are not sure if we can manipulate the soil enough to make them grow well. Peaches are a great fruit to eat but are the worst fruit I have ever had to maintain. They require constant spraying of chemicals for pests, fungus, and diseases. Though we always limited the use of such chemicals there are no organic substitutes. Peaches cannot be grown organically for commercial purposes and interestingly enou
  9. To my knowledge we are the last "Peach" growers in Paulding but due to the extreme climate changes we have been experiencing for the last decade producing quality Peaches for the public has become near impossible. This year will likely be no different. You haven't tasted a real peach until you've tasted it right off the tree. In this region Peaches will not be available until mid July at best.
  10. Hey everyone, Some of you may remember that every year my family sells certain fruits. Due to the extreme seasons we have only be able to offer our delicious and huge blueberries. While it is uncertain that we will sell our blueberry's this year we did want to poll the general public about other fruits. No matter the fruit or where it is grown: What kind of fruit would you like most to be available here in Paulding? And if that fruit were available would you prefer to have it picked for you or have the option to pick it yourself? Thanks so
  11. Well, it's funny you asked.... Now, I have never seen any ghost nor can I say they don't exist but when I worked with Pickett's Mill Battlefield State Park and volunteered with the Paulding County Historical Society I heard a few stories and saw a few pictures in my time. Picture below is well known and can be found hanging in the visitor center of Pickett's Mill Battlefield State park. Known as the New Hope Ghost the picture was taken in the early 1980's as part of a series of pictures taken one after another. A local Civil Ware non-profit had just finished cleaning the New Hope tren
  12. Why didn't I think about him. Anyone else have recommendations. I have received a few PM's but a few more wouldn't hurt me.
  13. Hello Everyone! I am seeking local digital graphic artists who have experience creating from scratch company logo's or in this case a church logo. Examples would need to be provided and of course the cost of your services. *Some art may be provided. This logo will be used in all applications such as roadside signs, T-shirts, magnets, ect. PM me if you are interested. Thanks, Gem Man 86
  14. Well, if this happened in our family the men would grab a shovel and begin digging for the septic tank. Every tank has a lid whether it is small like a manhole or big like the older tanks which were large concrete lids...heavy. In any case, if we really thought it was the septic we would just dig it up, open the lid, and look inside. If it wasn't full then we saved our selves some money. Of course once opened you can inspect the inflow pipe and also gauge how many roots have impacted your septic. For instance, lets say your septic were full but it also appeared to have heavy amounts of roo
  15. Vent on the roof? Well, it is the end of a vent or vents which connect to showers, toilets, sinks ect. Usually, plumbers tie bathrooms into one vent which keeps vent pipes through the roof to a minimum. For your noise, I would lean towards septic as this is a new issue and not an existing issue. For instance, if your vent pipes were too small then you might get "gurgling" from sinks ect. when you flush a toilet. Also, would happen if vent pipes were semi-blocked. Why venting is needed? Well, there are a couple of reasons but one is most important and I will try to give an example. Ex
  16. Should also ensure that you remove any hose hooked up to your exterior faucets even "freeze proof" faucets. The water in the hose can "sit" at the faucet and when it freezes it can break the faucet and burst a pipe. Also, anything that uses water outside such as a hose, sprinkler, water toy ect. should be drained and placed inside when possible. Water expands when it freezes which can damage whatever it resides in. Outside pets should have water but that water will freeze if it isn't protected from the cold. Keeping that water from freezing varies from situation to situation but
  17. I would be glad to lend a hand if you need me. I worked on the first P.com float several years ago. Have a good one! Gem Man 86
  18. I was at the Planning & Zoning meeting for another reason when this particular issue came before the board. I can't really say I am for or against the expansion. It is unfortunate the Planning & Zoning approved subdivisions neighboring the quarry as they are primarily impacted. Apparently the weekly (based on rock needed) blasting is causing damage to the houses and the health of the people according to said people. Also, because this quarry provides the type of rock needed for asphalt the only tenant based at the quarry sometimes runs trucks all night for paving projects. I suppose an
  19. I keep kicking myself that I haven't made time to check out your place! Oh how I have heard the reviews...every review you can taste! I haven't heard one bad thing and I know why...because when you cook good food you can't find anything bad to say...especially when your mouth is full of food! Oh I am going to eat there soon...
