They have complete health insurance through the program. They are required to have a certain amount of spending money per month. I didn't buy Roberto any clothes, except as gifts because I wanted to. Simple........you get to be the parent for the school year. The kids they send are great students. The parents pay the program between $10,000-$20,000 for their child to participate. Believe me, you get the well behaved ones! They don't want to get sent home. We have had 3 girls.........Roberto was our first boy. Nobody??? It doesn't cost anything. You give the a room and food.....that's it! They don't even need their own room (if they share it must be same sex only). They are part of the family. They help with chores, watch younger children, keep up their rooms......anything you expect your own children to do. I have had the wonderful experience of hosting an exhange student this past school year. Roberto has become part of our family. He has been wonderful, and he is leaving on Tuesday. I will miss him dearly. My kids feel like they are losing their big brother. On a happy note, I am getting Elise from Norway as my new exchange daughter. We can't wait! We are SO excited.
