True, that. I don't even like to let my kids walk up the street to a friend's house - something I did all the time growing up, and never thought anything about it. I'm a pediatric nurse, and we see so many overweight kids in the office. I guess our society is just different now. More two-income families, and more eating out, especially fast food. I'm guilty of that myself - some nights I don't get home until after 6 and I'm beat and take the easy way out.

I didn't read the article, but I guess I should have clarified that he was a witness to an awful occurrence, whether it was the actual event or the aftermath. Thanks for the observation, though. In any event, I feel terribly for that child.

Can't feature how this happened, but however it did, how horrible! And to have her young son witness such a thing makes it all the more tragic. Prayers for everyone involved.

Such a sad story! I've read in the past about the hardscrabble life the Judds led - at one point living in a home with no running water or electricity. I can't imagine having something so horrific as happened to Ashley, and then finding no one that will believe you or offer support.

Was it ever! The trees were bending over, and I thought the windows would blow in. Have stuff scattered all over the yard. Be glad when this passes.

Not Facing Your True Personality Is Victimizing Yourself

Been chewed up and spit out by one or two of those. Can spot 'em a mile away, now! -
Heard a couple of distant claps of thunder. Looks like we'll be rocking and rolling before long. Hard to go night-night with this kind of weather coming in.

I love the Waltons! I freely admit it. Not being from a close family, I lived vicariously through shows like this. On another programming note: PBS is running "The Civil War" this week, beginning tonight. It will be on from 8-10.

I wondered this very thing! I heard that this man even had maggots crawling on him. Poor soul. He may have refused their help, but his very life was at stake.

Do People Try To Change You To Their Liking

So glad you escaped that environment! I can't imagine the courage and fortitude it took to break out on your own at that age, but it appears you have carved out a wonderful life for yourself. Good for you, Postman! -

This struck a chord with me! My mother had a huge influence on me for so long. Appearances are really important. Until very recent years, I found myself decorating my house or dressing in a way that I thought she would approve of. And when she would come to visit, I would have anxiety over what she would think of my home, or how I did things. You are so right that it doesn't work. It's such a waste to try and please others to the exclusion of self. It's hard to kick the habit and accept and like yourself for who you are. Can be done with lots of practice, though. Oh,the freedom! -
As one that has been through this sort of heartbreak, my heart goes out to you. You and your family are definitely in my prayers. I'm so sorry for your bad news.

Poor baby! Prayers being said.

I'm a nurse in a doctor's office, and we have a new hire at the front desk that was really bathing in the Ralph Lauren Blue. She got really offended when they asked her to tone it down.

Talking To Oneself May Be A Good Way To Insure

This is a way I have of processing information and rationalizing things. It really works! -
Officer Don and the Popeye Club brings back wonderful memories! I grew up in Macon and remember adjusting the antenna reception to get the reception. Can't forget the Ooey Gooey Song - and Orville the Dragon. Good times, good times!

I loved the Little Rascals! I remember the one where the kids played hooky and Miss Crabtree threatened to tell Stymie's dad. He said, "You'll have to wait 30 days, then 'cause he's in jail!" Poor Stymie - I think Dad was always in jail.

Looks like this is a hoax. Another thing that points to this is that the major media outlets aren't all over this.
