I will have to add pics later but how many of you have birds building mud nests on your porch, like in my neighborhood. It is such great entertainment for my 2 furbabies, Rover and Goober;o) They are sitting patiently on the table waiting for "something" to happen, as if the bird is going to come in and play with them if they wait long enough. Each year they return, build a new nest and we can watch the babies get fed and then awkwardly learn to fly which always involves many babies sitting on the fan blades on the outside porch. It is just too cute! Anyway, it Bird Day, for those of you

Glad your back. Now stop making us jealous with your pics! -
Well this may be really old news but The Vietnam war ended this day in 1975 so maybe we can have good thoughts and be war-free soon. In the mean time, today is a beautiful day for browsing the downtown merchants in Powder Springs in our tiny little town of happy folk! Soak up the sun on our deck with a cuppa coffee or smoothie from the coffee shop and pick up a good book or two to read at the store. If you have military i.d. or other proof of serving, we will give a 15% discount to those of you that have or are serving to protect us as an extra thanks for what you do.

But often a small business doesn't have the money to advertise consistently and even if they are great, they don't really get a chance if you never give them a try. We have tons of people that pass by us ever day who don't even see us and we are out there (as most of you know!) so when you go buy any business that is new, do them a favor and at least give them a try as soon as you can before they go out of business while waiting to be discovered. I see it all the time and it is so sad. Yes, I realize some people don't realize what it takes to stay in business, but the "big" stores do have a mo

Don't laugh at my comment, as it is sincere! I love seeing a customer come in that a just found out their child needed a book read and report done that is due the next day and they have looked everywhere for the book, finding no copies anywhere and we walk over and pick it off the shelf and see their smile and relief that we not only have it but it is a fraction of the price! The other favored smile comes from the discovery book found that has a "special" memory of a grandparent or parent reading to them when young. Oh and cute otters playing with fish in the ocean! -
I don't see one on the shelf because it is a GREAT series and we keep selling out. However, I will check the warehouse this afternoon and let you know later, if we have one. I met Dean Koontz a few weeks ago (tooting my own horn, as it was one of the highlights of my trip to L.A.) and he was so funny and nice. Oddly, not what I expected!

A boat carrying as many as 80 people capsized on Lake Kivu in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the United Nations said. The boat may have been traveling from Minova, a town near the border of North and South Kivu provinces, to Bukavu, South Kivu’s provincial capital, said Alexandre Essome, the UN’s spokesman for North Kivu province. “Our military are flying over the lake to get more information,” Essome said by phone from Goma, the North Kivu provincial capital. “The number is not yet well known, but some people are alleging there were 80 people on the boat.” That is what is g
