  1. It's more likely than not that with all of the forecasting using highly technical and accurate instruments by the scientific community, I'm confident that the course predictability of Hurricanes is exponentially better today than in years past (obvously), but for the purpose of her intent... it is quite a ways out there and unless something causes it to suddenly turn north like 'Jose' did...or another weather pattern forms causing a diversion of water or wind to affect this one... it's most likely that the track of this storm will end up on the East Coast... Regardless.... preparations for
  2. I fully agree, but some preparation is better than no preparation. In light of recent events...and not so recent...many people wait to consider their paths to take until the last minute for a number of reasons. It's still a good idea to have basics around and plans in place just in case.... it's much harder to think when a disaster is upon you.
  3. When deployed, we use the NASA backup site... http://www.stormpulse.com click on 'Forecast models'in the top right. You can left click and hold to move the screen around... Click in the locations of the storm path and it'll tell you it's strength and wind speed. If you place the cursor over a city, it'll tell you the distance from the storm to the city... It looks like this next storm will be a Cat 2 Hurricane by this Saturday and it's headed for North Carolina than possibly up along the East Coast. Staying in the water without any land masses to slow it down is making it lo
  4. I'd be curious as to what you were told..... Please PM me if it's more appropriate.. ty
  5. LMAO Right... aaah, the power of the mind.... But I do like the soda... All diabetics can rejoice in this and Coca Cola can only bully stores not to carry it or to put it in some obscure location for so long. The West Coast stores are telling Coke to back off....and Coke has no influence on the Whole Foods stores here... Over the weekend, I think Ginger Ale has taken over the #1 spot from Black Cherry.....and I'm well stocked now so no more trips to Whole Foods in Buckhead for a while :-) As far as the DE... everyone looks for a magic bullet. For those who use this and it's working..
  6. Interesting --- This is the first time I've heard of it being used as a 'food grade item' with all of the aforementioned healthful properties. Like others, I know it's used as a stabilizer in explosives...but am curious to hear more about it's effects and of course, I'll be researching more as well. I would appreciate substantial information from a health professional as to what their take on this as it affects internal organs and more importantly, how it may interreact with prescribed medications... If anyone has the MSDS sheet they can post, that would truly be a big help in
  7. Word of Advice.... you may already know this, but be aware of the terms and conditions of whomever you use when looking for the boxes entitled "Binding" and "Binding Not to Exceed" Moving company quotations are usually determined by weight and if they determine you have say, 15,000 pounds and give a quote of $3000....and when they load you up and after the weigh in at the scale it's more like 20,000 pounds... that's an extra several hundred or more dollars....that's if the "Binding" is checked...and YOU have to pay the additional amount. However, if "Binding, not to Exceed" is checked
  8. There's a 'Diamond Mart' on Brownsville Road between 91 and 278 that typically has lower prices as well. I think I saw $2.69 yesterday as was the Sam's club in Hiram... Unfortunetly, I was in Alabama last week and at the Wal-Mart off I-20 exit 185... I got gas at $3.53..... The greater learning issue is what level of refined gas is actually in the tanks below ground. Higher refined may mean less deposits, but it also burns faster so you'll end up refilling sooner... If you notice, the rating on the pumps says "Minimum Octane" so they could actually put a higher refined fuel down th
  9. I just saw your reply. I truly appreciate the invote as I'd love to have planned earlier, but after the projects I just finished in the sun... I need a shower and a nap (getting old)..... But thank you again.....maybe next time...
  10. What's happening in Hiram tonight, where, what time, details please..(sorry for the hijack)
  11. Hmm, I've decided to put off major projects this weekend. Tomorrow, I think... Sun Valley Beach... than get my bike down - clean it up...and maybe on Sunday - head to the Silver Comet Trail.... Not sure about Monday... might plan on a Braves game...oh... and sleep LATE! Anyone want to meet up for a bike ride on the Trail Sunday, Shoot me a message and let me know.. Anyone interested in going to the Braves game Monday--- ditto
  12. ...Not always so simple.. As a past president of my HOA, I can tell you that the first thing I'd do is check with the HO and have in front of you a copy of the HOA's By-Laws, Covenants and Design Standards. Look for the words "Member in good standing." The Homeowner (The 'Member') is ultimately responsible for ensuring the Assessments (more-commonly referred to as 'dues') are paid unless there is a provision in your rental agreement stating you are responsible to pay the assesments directly to the HOA. Otherwise, any money given to the owner for rent, whether HOA dues are e
  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jenilyn!!!!! See, you guys have the BBQ thing still going on.... Mine was a large scale (there's a drain in the bottom of my BBQ pit) BBQ with a massive amount of dead animal flesh and corn, beans, potatoes and all the things you could imagine to wash all of it down with... Oh well....another day.... Thanks for the well wishes... I hope you guys all have an incredible steak, evening and birthday... Time to head out....
  14. It's because of people like this.....sometimes being a parent should be considered a priviledge and not a right.... It's a responsibility and unfortunetly, this is an easy one to point a finger at....but for the hundreds and thousands of neglected and abused children....... their innocence and vulnerability is so fragile....what kind of people turn into monsters when they have children and make these kind of selfish decisions....
  15. I was going to have my massive Steak BBQ tonight with everyone...but the weather kept saying 70% chance of Rain....so, I cancelled and rescheduled it...kinda ruined my plans for the evening... Now here it is... cool but NOT raining. Weather people get paid a lot of money to be wrong and still keep their jobs (Okay, there are a few I like, but the others ). I haven't seen that Thor movie or the other one... Fast 5 (or something like that)and want to... so I'm going to look at the times and than decide if I'm going to eat first or just go... Anyone else heading out tonight? I
  16. Nope... Note: T.I.P.S - To Insure Proper Service - a box placed at the entrance of old english establishments in to which a proper gentleman placed an offering (bribe). Upon hearing the noise of coin(s)...you would be seated in a place befitting the number of coins heard and it might help the cook to not spit into your food or use less than the best pcs of food. it's come a long way since than and the term is often mis-used. As opposed to : A Gratuity - which is offered to the server after the meal as a sign/token of appreciation... I don;t see why they place a jar for you
  17. Wow, after all of this, I'm no more convinced which is better to get... But, I will prbably stsay with verizon and have to do more reserch as to what i really want to do with a phone. Have they made any phones that can wash cars, do laundry or do basic car repair?...I know./..I know ...there's probably an app for that...
  18. A place in Hiram off 92?????? Please find out where and what the name of this place is/was and advise... I think it would be fun to go with my daugher and pick strawberries.... Thank you!!
  19. Okay, so you have an I-phone. Who's your service with? ...and, I thought it was the I-phones that were being hacked... I guess it all depends on who you ask or what you read... still a big ball of salesmanship... I may go to the Verizon store and look at the two again. Also, having 'insurance' on either phone...if it starts to have problems....replace it in less than a year . I heard that AT& T can replace on the spot while Verizon has a new phone shipped to you in a day or so.... not sure how true that is as well.. I guess the research continues... (thank you for the insite).
  20. What the hell, make it $6 and I'll bring a bag to carry them!
  21. Being an original vinyl record from Sun Records (who I believe was the first label to make these)..they might be worth something... But as someone else pointed out...If you have the jacket in tact...it would be worth more....
  22. This should be fun... Let's see, whereas I'm no longer bound by the verizon contract and am thinking about going to either a Droid or an I-phone. I figure for what I'm paying now for my current plan... I could and should be able to get more by switching to one of these phones... Also, Aside from the cost of the new pohone... I hear about how many Apps they have. Shoot, if i use 12 I'm surprised... I don't live on, with or for my phone. I call people and take an occaisional picture... However, after the initial cost of the 'plan' there's the other costs... internet (about $30)
  23. Just a note: If you go to the Hiram AT&T store (next to Wal-Mart) ask to speak to Eric Long. He'll tell you the straight truth (sometimes getting spoken to about being so honest)but he believes in Customer Service and hates hidden agendas and fees...so ask what you will and he'll tell you the truth...
  24. Aghhhh Darn it!!! I wish I had known about this yesterday. I would have gone :-( I have next weekend off/free... anything happening like this next weekend?????
