  1. For me it is. The white bread "stuffing" goes in the bird.......if you try to cook it on the side, it can be pretty dry. The juices from the bird season it just right. You don't use the Pepperidge Farm stuff, you use regular white loaf bread, leave it out to get stale but not dry like bread crumbs. I spread it on the dining room table and cover it with cloth that I use just for this. I'll save you some if I get a chance to see you this weekend, I'll let you taste my dad's. You gonna be around somewhere Friday or Saturday??
  2. My dad makes it every year, I make the cornbread dressing. His goes in the bird, and it is very good. I like both so we have both.
  3. I like white bread "stuffing" and cornbread "dressing". You have to use stale bread, lay it out on the table between towels to dry out. Chop the celery and onion fine and saute in butter til the onions are clear. Break up the bread in a large bowl and add the celery and onion. Add sage, salt and pepper to taste. Add about a can of chicken broth or if you have already defrosted the turkey, cook the neck and giblets to make a turkey broth. Mix it all together getting the flavors throughout the bread without making it too soggy. It's pretty easy to do.
  4. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. RIP Mr. Hale.
  5. That's funny. When you get finished with all the stress and effort needed to build your home there are always things you can't afford or things you wish you had done differently. For the most part I'm very happy with my house, however there are some things I wish I had done differently.
  6. Good morning, I'm really getting excited about Thanksgiving. I love this holiday, I have much to be thankful for.
  7. Here's a great Mac and cheese recipe. Macaroni and Cheese 1 (8 oz) pkg elbow macaroni 1/4 t. pepper 6 TBS butter or margarine, divided 3/4 t. Worcestershire sauce 1/4 cup all purpose flour 3 cups of milk ½ t. dry mustard 1 t. instant minced onion ¾ lb sharp ched. cheese, shredded 1 t. salt ¾ cup bread crumbs Cook macaroni according to directions, drain. Melt 4 tablespoons butter; blend in flour and seasonings. Add milk and onion. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Add cheese and stir into macaroni. Pour into 2 1/2 quart casserole dish. Top with bread crumb
  8. This is exactly what I would do. You could soak it a little while tonight then put it in the fridge til Thursday. Don't leave it on the counter, it will spoil and make you sick.
  9. I highly recommend the Kennesaw Small Business Class. Get a good accountant and be careful with a business credit card, they will not fall under the new guidelines the feds are implementing. I have one in my name that I use only for business, pay the balance every month and never let it get too high. Good luck, having your own business is great when times are good. It's a bear when you have to go without a paycheck.
  10. If it were me, I would notify the authorities. They may indeed have permission to be there, if not they shouldn't be. Do you know the property owners?? You might just want to tell them and let them handle it.
  11. Everyone has their seasoning favorites. I like just melted butter, salt and pepper on mine. I also cook it outside on the grill in a steam table pan with water in the bottom pan. It is very tender and juicy. I cook the neck along with the giblets to give it extra flavor and just toss it before I thicken it. My very first turkey, I couldn't find the neck. I got the giblets out of the cavity but had no idea the neck was there. I cooked it in there and guess what, it didn't hurt a thing. The bird still tasted yummy. If it's not completely defrosted when it's time to cook it, yo
  12. Saw the flyer on line. Is this a sale price or can anyone go get them with their store card?? This is a great price. Just left Wally World in Hiram, they have sweet potatoes for 25 cents lb, Swanson chicken broth for 45 cents a can. Lots of other fixings at really good prices. Just went and looked again. It's 37 cents lb with purchase of $35.00. Here is the flyer Food Lion
  13. Good luck Lowrider, prayers for a great surgery and quick healing. Have a friend that just turned 40 and had this done over the summer. She did great and was walking all over the woods with us (sometimes using the crutches) after six weeks. I know you will be happy to walk around without pain when the leaves are coming out and the spring flowers are blooming.

  15. Put mine in the fridge yesterday morning. It's a little over 20 lbs. Will probably have to soak it in water a little Wednesday but it will be fine. Thanks for the reminder LR.
  16. My doggie could eat your doggie rat in one bite, so there
  17. I agree on the store layout thing..............it really helps to have the coupons orgainzed accordingly. I just don't spend that much time in grocery stores anymore, and they change the layouts from time to time just to confuse me.
  18. It takes a lot of time and organization. Even when I remember to clip the coupons, I usually forget them at home. I'm working on it, too.
  19. Awwww, how sweet. Thanks for the warmth and sharing Nicholas.
  20. I agree PM, depending on the store I buy the store brands. There are a few things I won't sacrifice and oddly mayo is one of them. I don't like Kroger brand cheese or butter but have no problem with Laura Lynn brand. It depends on the store, a lot of Great Value items are indeed made by the same folks that make the name brands. You just have to experiment to see what your family likes. It doesn't do any good to pay half price for something if no one will eat it. I honestly think the couponers (is that a word? ) have the grocery store covered quite nicely...........It's amazing
  21. Yeah!!!, glad to hear she's getting much needed rest. My mom always told me when you're sick or hurting sleep is the best thing for it. She said our bodies heal when we are resting............I think I believe her. Tell her I hope she's feeling back to normal soon.
  22. Busy, busy , busy. Maybe you should change your screen name.
  23. Morning everyone, going to stay in and do some cooking, maybe get the Christmas decorations out of the attic and start getting ready for the big man in the red suit.
