Is our confrontational management style part of the problem?

You read all the right books, BL! Even if I disagree with you, which is a rare situation, I have much R-E-S-P-E-C-T for even the disagreement we have! -
If People Treat You With Insensitivity, That's Not OK
Eddie Bennett replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The interaction of two adults, in this society, has more equality than the interaction of two adults in an old Roman society, or even is a British Kingdom. It used to be possible for you to lose your head, for standing up, speaking out, and talking back. Some people will even apologize for standing up against insensitivity. I don't think anything is okay regarding that kind of apology. How are a persons emotional needs going to be met with that kind of apologetic mentality? -
If People Treat You With Insensitivity, That's Not OK

If it works for them, that means they get away with it. It will, no doubt, become a pattern if you allow that kind of behavior to work for them. That sort of pattern should be easy to spot. For example; if somebody cuts you down, with some disgusting remark, and you accept it without defending yourself: bingo, the pattern has started. They know how to treat you in order to push their agenda. I say they need o change their attitude if they want me to comply. -
Exactly!

I don't care who they are, if somebody treats you with insensitivity there is no amount of money that can make it OK for them to do that. On the other hand, if somebody treats you with dignity and respect it's only appropriate that you return the favor. When people are aggressive, bossy, or controlling, and that kind of behavior works, than there is nothing else they need to do. There is no mystery in the fact that people do what works. If it works they need not do it any other way. Identify, to yourself, why you are allowing a person to treat you with insensitivity. There is no a

BL, Pubby's attitude is right along with the blog you read. I have been knowing it for years. He also says: "Perfection alludes us all." Well, perfection may allude us all, but Pubby is not as far away from perfection as the rest of our society. I firmly believe that. And,it an't no brag; it's just a fact. -
What was addressing the enormous cost of healthcare before health care reform, TC? All non paying people (even illegal aliens) had to do was go to the emergency room. They would be given a bill, but the bill wasn't paid. In a lot of cases their Mexican address could not be identified. Repubs are the ones who don't want people to be required to pay for their healthcare insurance. They don't mind them being required to pay for no fault auto insurance, but they don't want people to be required to pay for their healthcare insurance.

Which private sector are you referring to markdavd? The top 2%, or the other 98% of us?

Is our confrontational management style part of the problem?

I believe the real winners, today, are the champions of cooperation. Adolf Hitler lost because his Golden Rule was "do it to others before they do it to you." That is an "I win and you lose" attitude. It becomes the lose-lose attitude in the end. Winners practice the "double-win" attitude: "If I help you win, then I win." I want to help you win, PUBBY! I like your attitude. I don't want to be a champion of "competition." I would lose. -

The man with the money makes the rules. That includes the Golden Rule. They want all the gold. I wish it could be win-win, in this country, but the only winners are the 2% of the people with the money. The other 98% still dream about a conjured up trickle down economy. -

Not standing up, speaking out, and talking back, is the biggest problem. Individuals who try to do that, need as much support as the man with the money, BL! The only way individuals can stand up, speak out, and talk back, is with the backing of a union. Otherwise, nobody with the money is going to listen! This country is no small town. It is getting bigger, and bigger, with the money narrowing down to the Corporate individuals, which is what I call the big union driven Corporations. Corporations are bigger unions than any labor union, now days. Individuals cannot bargain with them. -
We don't need State Workers, and teachers. They get to many benefits. Get rid of them and hire illegal aliens. The only benefits that want is not to be deported.

"The one thing that the situation in Wisconsin points out more than anything is that there is a divide in the country between labor and management." ~ PUBBY Among the thousands of demonstrators who jammed the Wisconsin State Capitol grounds this weekend was a well-financed advocate from Washington who was there to voice praise for cutting state spending by slashing union benefits and bargaining rights. But, why do 98% of the American people support the other 2% who have the the majority of the money? The visitor, Tim Phillips, the president of Americans for Prosperity, told a larg -
Taking yourself to seriously can lead to boredom. We send messages to other people whether we do it verbally, behaviorally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, or interactively. Mixing a little fantasy into our messages can be a good thing. I enjoy watching Larry The Cable Guy's new show, on the History Channel. It is a very informative show, with a little humor and fantasy mixed in. Larry is a comedian, but he is an intelligent person, who actually cares about the American way of life. Fantasy is manufactured, which makes it what it is. We know it's fantasy because we understand t

Are People Afraid To Acknowledge Difficult Issues?

A really good sense of humor is to be able to come right back to insult with a knock out blow. People have no choice but to take it as humorous.

I might trade some amount of personal information for some of their own information, of my choosing. -
I didn't read further, than what you posted, BL, but It was enough to reflect upon. I am interested in the subject, and I can assure you I will read more as time permits. As you know, I am far from being perfect, by any measure. Some of my well intended humor falls on ears that do not enjoy the same comedy. I used to be accused of being much like Mark Twain, in my humor. Mr. Twain was a very humorous man, and was able to enjoy living in a world that was not always appeasing to his demeanor. I loved his approach to life during his times of unrest around the country. He was humorous, while h

I Love P.com Advertising; It's Not The Same As TV
Eddie Bennett replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
My soul interest in P.com is that it remains as important to our lives as it has been, now, for about 8 years. I utilize its academic potential, by associating subject matter that I think is important for my friends, and fellow citizens, to be aware of. Show-and-tell, coffee-table discussions, allows me to involve myself in real-world experiences, as well as tell what I know needs telling. My academic understandings, and the research I do to secure information that is not misguided by misinformation, in my opinion, needs to be broadcast. With the perspective of knowledge gathered by -

Anything you say can, and will, be used against you in a court of law. If that is not enough to cause you to claim the fifth amendment on every thing you can, you are clean and green all the way. -

It seems to me that the one with the narrowest, and most selective vision, TC, is the one who narrows it down to a personal issue. I call no names. -
Loved that, FW!
