According to Mark Twain ~ "We do not deal much in fact when we are contemplating ourselves." Is this true, or were Mark Twains observations not dealing with fact? Maybe the person, in your life, that you most need to stand up to is YOU. Have you ever considered that possibility? Is what you have, now, really what you want, or is it simply what you've settled for because it was easy, safe, or not as scary as what you really want? Consider the people in Libya. Are they becoming more interested is settling, for what they don't want, for fear that Gaddafi will retaliate for causing

If a ring has sentimental value to you, I say keep it. But, if the ring is just a money issue, give it back. It should not have been given for the money value of it, and it should not be kept for the money value of it. JMO

I see no reason why a back yard fire should not be burned at night. I sit around a fire, with my friends and neighbors, for warmth on cool evenings. A fire is delightful as a peaceful environment for a party. But, the burning of limbs and leaves, for clearing purposes, is a different matter. These fires are as big as 8ft. in diameter, and should not be allowed at night.

If You Care About Your Children's Education

Your first paragraph is very true, SOLO! I have a great respect for J.Edward Deming. He invented JUSE (The Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers) http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php In 1947, Deming was involved in early planning for the 1951 Japanese Census. The Allied powers were occupying Japan, and he was asked by the United States Department of the Army to assist with the census. While in Japan, Deming's expertise in quality control techniques, combined with his involvement in Japanese society, led to his receiving an invitation from the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engi -
Another Topic On Stand Up, Speak Out, And Talk back
Eddie Bennett replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We might as well be a mannequin in a store window. At least we will be standing up. It's probably because someone else stood us up, but at least we are standing for something. Behaving as if stupidity is a divine way, to communicate, may help you stand in a store window looking better than other folks, but your other needs are not going to be met that way. Striking poses can lead to thinking that self-criticism will elicit compliments. But, who wants that kind of compliment, anyway? -
If we don't stand up, speak out, and talk back, it gives other people a license to make our decisions for us. Anything, and everything, about us will be controlled by someone else. There are people who will tell us when we can go to the bathroom, and how long it should take us to do our business in there. Other people will manage your life, their lives, and anything and everything that you share with them, if you don't stand up, speak out, and talk back. They will dominate all their interactions with us. They will tell you what you think, and how you feel. And, they will use us just like

If You Care About Your Children's Education

You are right, I suppose, sense you put it that way, BS! The Georgia Lottery is a shining example of hand outs. A person hand his money out, with many odds against getting a return on his investment. -

So, we should be stunning our children from being able to qualify for a Hope Scholarship, while we raise the price of a College education. I SEE! -
If You Care About Your Children's Education
Eddie Bennett replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yes, wfal! I have thought it out, very well. If the Georgia Lotter is not the answer, like Zell Miller told us it was, boycott it to oblivion. Taking away from our children's education is no way to teach them to compete, or to cooperate, in a World market. -
If You Care About Your Children's Education

Zell Miller was a Democrat when he worked to get the Georgia Lottery going to help with our Children's education, but he has failed us. It is not working folks. It's kind of like what happened to our Social Security system, when Dewitt D. Eisenhower started dipping into it for other uses, which was different than Roosevelt had planned for it. The Georgia Lottery cannot suffer the same fate, if it is going to remain a benefit for our Children's Education. If the Georgia Lottery is not doing what Zell Miller told us it would do, however, it needs to go down for a better strategy t -
If You Care About Your Children's Education
Eddie Bennett replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Exactly, LC, EXACTLY! Let the suffering begin! The Lottery needs to be changed to something else. It's not working. It's going downhill like a snowball headed for Hell. It will take a little effort to pick up the peaces and get something going that actually "WORKS" for our children's education. Suffering, as bad as I hate to say it, needs to be done sometimes to get to a working program. -
Our children are already less educated, in this country than in other leading countries. Something needs to be don to broaden our children's education; not to lesson it. Even if you have to get your Lottery tickets from another State; DO THAT, but don't be buying Georgia Lottery tickets until Deal gets the message about the importance of our children's education.

Show Your Appreciation For Paulding.com!

I appreciate all the p.com staff. They get-r-done. I'm sure there are many times when they feel very frustrated, and have to call on one another for support in decisions that have to be made about kipping P.com as civil as possible. But, I want PUBBY to know that I will never forget his first concerns in regard to a dilemma I was facing. He spent his valuable time trying to assist in every way he could. PUBBY patted many streets, and turned many corners, when he was attempting to set up this wonderful website. I'm sure he wore out pair after pair of shoes. His fingertips probably had call -
If People Treat You With Insensitivity, That's Not OK
Eddie Bennett replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I know what you mean, LC! Some people just don't get-r-done like others do, and it's winds up being necessary to be more assertive with them. But getting aggressive is a different matter. There's no need to throw a perfectly good telephone against the wall, which is what I've seen people do on some of the construction jobs I've been on. One guy threw a hard had against the floor which bounced nearby my head. He like to have been in a world of hurt, but I was level headed enough to stop half way to his jaw. -
There are those who prefer education for themselves, but don't want others to be as smart as they are. They simply don't like competition. It makes it harder for them to get away with things they want to do that might require the help of others. A helper that is as smart as they are may be watching hem to closely. It's easy for me to spot the people who are down on education. All I have to do is watch the news. Education has been going down the tubes for the last few years, and the surge is picking up, not down, in curbing the education of the American people.

Do You Feel You Are Being Used More Than You Use Others

People do let us get away with treating them in insensitive ways. Have they taught us that it is okay for us to treat them with less than dignity and respect? What are the people, in your life, letting you get away with? -

Do You Feel You Are Being Used More Than You Use Others
Eddie Bennett replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I understand how you can perceive it differently than I do, sg! But, in my view it is the same thing viewed through different lenses. Doing things for others is certainly a useful thing. I know you are not saying that people can't use your help. Not thinking of it is useful is simply different than the way I see it. I like your point of view, though, sg! it is a very good point of view. -

Do You Feel You Are Being Used More Than You Use Others
Eddie Bennett replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
You have to stop being who you really are if you are being used more than you use. In order to have peace and harmony you just let it happen. You conform a day to day bottom line that somebody else tells you is the most important thing in your life. You do it simply because it is what you did yesterday, and it is going to be what you do tomorrow. -
It's no secret that we use people just like we use commodities. But, using people is a mutual agreement between the user and the used. This mutual agreement can get very one sided. If you classify yourself like a commodity (maybe like a doormat) than you get used more than you use. Feeling like you are used more than you use is like being in a relationship where the love is one sided. The other person knows you love them and they take advantage of the set up. Why do people get involved in situations like this; I don't know, but they do it all the time. Is this truly a dog ea

I know you do, L R! I have noticed another thing about you. You disassociate yourself with people who do like b717doc has described. You just don't have anything to do with them. It's sad for people who need to work for a living, on a job where the director intends to make people unhappy. Do you treat a director, like this, the way you want to be treated. I think, in some situations, it just doesn't work, L R! But, in most situations it does. I eat directors like this guy for lunch, b717doc. I get a kick out of breaking an arm when somebody gets me by the collar. If th -

Have you got the guts? Some people have a lot of guts, but they don't listen to them. Your guts can tell you what to do just like your brain does, in some things. If you haven't got the guts, however, they can't tell you anything! Sometimes a person has scared guts; the kind that shrinks when they should be shouting. If you pay attention to your guts you can spot insensitivity that need a lot of guts to encounter. -

In considering what you just said, kw, you are probably affective. I believe anything is better than just taking the insult. I tend to be too critical, with an attempt to sabotage what ever reasoning they had for insulting me. I will think about what you said; next time!
