  1. I believe tent city, in Atlanta, is a good example of what people will do in a situation where "voodoo economics," (a quotation of George H. W. Bush) has crashed our economy. Never underestimate the power of the American people to survive. A country boy can survive, with his shoot-gun, his rifle, and his 4-wheel drive. But, city-slickers will do what is necessary, also. Mob rule might become a reality, and the mob will make the decisions. A lot of people, for the same cause, may overcome the country-side. But, we will all do what we have to do. The people are not being represented by
  2. When I was growing up there was no such bug as a Japanese Beetle in Paulding County. I have witness many new things, and situations, sense I first set foot on Georgia ground. My mother finally sat me down on solid Georgia ground, almost a year after she brought me home from the Bremen Hospital. It has not only been Japanese Beetles that I have learned about, many years after not experiencing any such beetle. But, I have also had to get used to Toyota's, Nissan's, Honda's, Subaru's, Yamaha's, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen Beetles etc., etc.. The list goes on and on. Getting used to Spanish, which
  3. I don't know about a trail, but I do know that there are miles and miles of dirt roads, which hardly has any traffic, near the Tallapoosa River. This area is just off Hwy 27, on Garner Road, North of Buchanan. Also I used to bike on Hall Road across Hwy. 120 from Lake Olympia, near Buchanan. There are some off road paths there.
  4. A good imagination is very important. If you don't have it you will be applying yourself to someone else's dreams. But, I could be wrong. How many times have I been wrong? There are people, here on P.com, who think I am bad wrong. The strange thing, to me, is that I hardly ever claim to be right. I feel as if I am only suggesting things that I believe from the inside of my character. It's not that I was born with what I believe already instilled in me, because that is impossible. I came to believe what I believe by dreams and imaginations. I dreamed the things I believe, and imag
  5. Thanks for sharing, M J R! I am happy you have found a good doctor. Sometimes a specialist will not help you, with issues, as well as your primary care doctor does. But, the way I do is talk to my primary care doctor about what the results from the specialist doctor. I get a copy of the diagnosis from my specialist and have my PC doctor clarify it for understanding.
  6. That is a heart felt story, GG, which also includes the facts. It's not life's going hurts my days, it's that it goes in little ways without good facts like you know how to deliver. I like Jillian Michael's, on the Dr's show, but she is getting a bad rap. I like here because she tells it like it is. What you just said make sense, to me, and Jillian's bad rap makes no sense, to me. Your words helps me, and others on here, to understand how it is. I wish all of us he could have the understandings of life that you have so learned about.
  7. What kind of a father are you? Do your children believe that "if it is to be it is up to me?" Do you control them, or do you empower them to be who they are from the inside out? Are they afraid they will displease you for being themselves, or do you encourage them to go for what they want in life, whether MONEY has anything to do with it or not? Look at the above winner looser, time honored, sayings and think for yourselves.
  8. I think a little discomfort causes more understanding than a lot of please thank you's. A big stink might be more constructive than a feasting party. I have noticed that people actually pay more attention to constructive criticism than I have thought they did. I had a P.com friend to give himself away when he could remember something I said, from months back, which was long after I had forgotten saying anything of the sort. After considerable thought, however, I began to remember that what he said was true. I actually had said nearly the same thing I was talking about at the time
  9. I would not make a good doctor, fitc! I would see no need to encourage a person to continue bad health habits simply because they need a shoulder to get emotional on. I've seen some doctors pamper wrong doers, while they know it's wrong.
  10. Here's "THE DIFFERENCE." It's up to you to raise your children right, no matter how difficult it is. Winners say, If it is to be, it is up to me. Losers say, I can't help it. Winners translate dreams into reality. Losers translate reality into dreams. Winners empower. Losers control. Winners say, Let's find out. Losers say, Nobody knows. Winners are part of the solution. Losers are part of the problem. Winners are not afraid of losing. Losers are afraid of winning. Winners work harder than losers. Losers are always too busy. Winners say, I was wro
  11. Sometimes no comment is the best comment, LC! No, just kidding. I have heard people say they were changing doctors for telling them the truth about their big ol fat arse. When you've got two bowling balls in your bra, and two basket balls in your drawers, and the doctor tells you that you need to get rid of those balls for your health; that is no reason to change doctors. I control your memory better than I do my own, markdave! I can't remember that. That might be the reason I'm so poor, and live from paycheck to paycheck.
  12. Jillian has done a lot of listening in her life. I can tell that she has. Noe she has a right to talk. I learn from her, and I hope others do too. I watched "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead," because ButterflyLion told me about it, here on P.com. Getting real is not because you want to be comforted, but because you want to know the eyeball to eyeball truth.
  13. Every time I come on naked, I have a buddy helping me eat my popcorn. I hace dcided I will do like marydavd, and pass.
  14. Very true, cp! Groupies are not in a group if they will arrest their own kind. The good ol boy network keeps this from happening, in many cases, however! Take the case in Hall County a couple weeks ago. A Deputy can get fired for ratting on another Deputy. http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/.../i-team%3A-hall-county-sheriff's-dep... Something is keeping me from being able to pull this up. I guess, if you are interested, you'll have to Google "I Team: Hall County Sheriff's Dept. Firing"
  15. Are doctors who satisfy our need for emotional support the best doctors, or is it the doctors who will give us the bear arse facts the best doctors? If we are going to die is a doctor who want lie a little for our feelings a good doctor? What about fear? Had we rather not know how bad our health really is, or do we actually want to know the details? If our doctor crosses us, is he barking up the wrong tree, and will lose our business? Give me some insight on this. Try to talk in terms of all of our concerns instead of just "I, Me, My, concerns!"
  16. I may be wrong, fitc! I am often wrong when dealing with other people. I am thinking that I might should consider Jillian in a way that suits status quo opinion, regarding her demeanor. Nevertheless, I think she means well. I love the fat people she has helped, and the desire she has to help fat people may come from her own struggle to maintain a healthy body. She may not be a good person for the Dr's show, but I like her. Of course, I would not be a good person for the Dr.'s show either. You probably know what my reputation is, even here on P.com.
  17. We were all once little sons and daughters. Maybe our fathers knew little of what W. Livingston Larned wrote, but they still did the best they could for us. I think it's very difficult to raise children, and to know how to treat them. It makes me wonder why adults get out into public, and at work with other adults, with the intent to be so appreciative of every activity that goes on. They seem to turn a blind eye to other adult faults, but come home and use a different tactic with their sons and daughters. "As we advance in life it becomes more and more difficult, but in fighting the dif
  18. First watch this YouTube video, and then we'll talk about it. http://youtu.be/55EbjaOLfwA
  19. You are right, somewhat, fitc! I think this show is more Jay McGraw's thinking than it is Dr. Phil's. I'm so happy that you like either one of these guys. And, I am happy that you are such a friend to me that you will actually talk to me about things. I agree with you a lot, but not on everything. You know me well enough to realize that I get down to the nitty gritty, no matter who it hurts. The people I talk to know that I like them as people, but sometimes not their attitude, nor their imagination about things. Anyway, you are a highly respected friend on mine, fitc! You know
  20. I understand, fitc! New approaches to change of life is difficult. But, anything worth doing takes reality; not a beat around the bush, i love you, emotional, please do it.
  21. I have not used Vudu, but I am game for anything regarding good movies. How do I get it, BL?
  22. I think annoying people tells more truth than others. The truth hurts, and if you tell it you are a hurtful, and not a compassionate, person. But, it's no secret that we learn more from adversity than we do from contentment. I love Jillian Michaels.
  23. Jillian doesn't beat around the bush, and I like that about her. I liked the Dr's, but they used to much beat around the bush tactic, and would show to much "bless your heart" emotion when trying to help people. Jillian has a strait forward eyeball to eyeball get-r-done attitude, and she don't hold back.
  24. I use Redbox, Subby, but I have just installed Roku and a wireless router, so I can stream movies. Netflix is going to all streaming, and their mail order movies will change names. Netflix will still own the mail order part of the company, but it will no longer be called Netflix. The Netflix name will be for streaming only. I haven't gotten into it much, but I did notice that Roku offers connection to other movie providers like Amazon, etc., etc.. BTW, Redbox offers Blur Ray as well as the other Pixel movies.
  25. A lot of our different colors have big buds in them, now. I think we may get to see some heavy blooming before frost kills them. Sometimes we cover them up on the first couple of frosts. Yes, I noticed that there was a difference in the leaves, and some of out pink ones have a double trumpet, while our yellow, and white, ones only have one big troupet hanging straight down. Thank you TC! .
