Last year at Abney, the Kindergarteners did a performance for all the parents. It was sweet. No caps and gowns - they had top hats.

Yep! That's happened to us. We got called by three different schools at the beginning of the year when my oldest started. Unfortunately, it's hard NOT to be on several waiting lists because you have no guarantee that one school will call you. Then if that one school doesn't, you're SOL at the beginning of the year. Thanks for all the input. I think I'll send Deal a strongly worded email to get his arse in gear and sign the dern bill. LOL

I worked for hot topic (used to be partnered w/ claire's) and can tell you exactly how many minutes they trained me on piercing ears. "here's the gun. Here's the alcohol. Try to make them even - use this marker." I'd say about a minute, total.

My kid will get her ears pierced when she asks me to have them pierced and not a second sooner.

That's why I wanted to find out if any kids who weren't guaranteed slots have gotten any. I know kids who are already in day care get first dibs. I'm on a few waiting lists already. From what I have heard, they'e waiting for Deal to sign the bill. But wondered if anyone was already enrolled, without being a day care student. Thanks

From the bright from the start site "Children four years of age on September 1 of the current school year" My kid will be 4 in June. She starts this year. I put her on two waiting lists last year with no problem, as she'll be 4 when school starts.

I have called a couple of the places I've been put on waiting lists and one says they haven't started calling people because Deal hasn't signed the Pre-k bill yet. The other says they've started. I haven't been called yet - and wonder if any other parents have gotten placed yet? And I'm specifically wondering about kids who AREN'T in day care now, who would have preference over waiting list folks. I'm impatient. I know. But my 1st was registered by this time and I don't want to scramble at the end of summer to find a school
