  1. That's just it, there are a LOT of people who need it and are turned away but there are some that you are completely amazed that they get it. I don't understand how the system works but it's a screwed up mess that is letting a LOT of things slip through that never should happen....
  2. Very few people that I see in my line of work are ever embarrassed or ashamed at their housing assistance payments, government checks or food assistance. They actually feel offended when they are expected to pay for something like utilities. I am not holier than thou, ok well maybe I am , but when someone walks in and pays for a $3 ice cream at the convenience store with their assistance card, it does tend to lessen the image of most on assitance. And these types are not the minority attitude wise, I deal with that attitude almost every day. So don't give me your "oh poor people being l
  3. Well alright then, I guess I am just a bit more low key than most because I used to live right beside the high school up until a few years ago and it didn't bother me in the least.... Different strokes....
  4. Um Genius, a road does not equal a house.... (FYI, I never said he didn't have the right to call, I just think there is a lot more to worry about in life than some spray paint on the road. Read posts and process please before you spout off such nonsense.) And I said bigger things to worry about than a road bugging you. Repeating. --> Wow you are deerslayers brother aren't ye.. --->
  5. For Real? That bugs you enough to make repetitive phone calls? Wow... Bigger things in life dude, bigger things....
  6. Just so you don't feel like we are all special or sumpin.... The Murtha Airport in Johnstown, Pa., is a prime example of taxpayer spending that refuses to die. Representative John Murtha steered some 150 million of taxpayer dollars to this eponymous airport over the last decade and despite the fact he died more than a year ago, the money keeps on coming. Three years ago, we first visited the tiny airport, and found a monument to pork barrel spending: An airport with a $7 million air traffic control tower, $14 million hanger, and $18 million runway big enough to land any airplane in North
  7. You can buy fake lotto tickets at a lot of places. The big tickets they scratched were real, the small one was a fake. I am still bitter, I wanted to go on a shopping spree!
  8. You are naive if you think this will just be wiped away. I interviewed a kid who made a stupid move and was shocked when the incident came up on his background check. He said he was told that since it was his first time they would seal everything after he completed his punishment. He did everything and it was sealed, but way before then the arrest was published on the county website and has never gone away and pulls up on most searches. Unless they are extremely lucky, nothing goes completely away. And no, he didn't get the job....
  9. I don't care if they were "good" kids or not unless they had a prior history of doing this act, but if it was a first offense the punishment shouldn't be life changing (which a felony would be). Drunk drivers get their behavior pled down to misdemeanors all the time with a good attorney and that is a horrendously dangerous act, why should these kids not get the same benefit of being able to plead down for a first time act? Some of these people are ridiculous with the hang 'em at high noon philosophy.... Punishment, YES, and a very hard one to reinforce the point, but felony conviction.
  10. Ah, then if possible try to find someone who has experience with the transaction. It's like a realtor trying to do property management and not really having all the "real life" experience many property managers possess. Sure they have the licensing required, but not necessarily all the knowledge/experience to protect you. I know someone who chose the realtor that took on property management because real estate was slow and the one they chose was cheaper on their rates. There was a reason they were cheaper.... Good luck, I know by your previous posts you had a rough time finding somethi
  11. Are you looking to sell and owner finance or buy? That will help let you know what to watch for....
  12. I agree on Seven Hills, but one store versus twenty to thirty at the entrance of their subdivision is a lot more volume. I thought the previous posters issues were with traffic concerns. I know someone who lives in Burnt Hickory and unless things have changed in the past year residents should be more pissed with their neighbors lack of care/concern for their home than a Dollar General. MANY years ago it was a very nice little community, but I was shocked at my recent visit. Actually shocked is an understatement.
  13. Is it the Dollar General or any store in front of a subdivision that is bothersome? Seven Hills, Bentwater, Brookstone, etc do very well with the shopping centers in front of their subdivisions.
  14. Maybe a Dollar General would help to get an apparently desparately needed red light?
  15. Too cool, I say let's take a portion and buy more tickets! Heck if others are game then I say put it all back in and buy more, especially if John Boy is scratching!
  16. Serviced my old rider and it is running soooooooo good now! Amazingly fast at what he does too! Thanks Subby!
  17. Ditto for me on this.... Whatever you guys want to do is good with me.
  18. I have Uverse and have no issues with the quality of the service, BUT I do have a problem with the maximum of four active connections at a time. We have three kids and if there are three tv's going and the DVR is working you can't us any more tv's until the DVR is finished or until another tv is off. I don't know that we will stay with them when our year is up because of this reason. But the service has been very good.
  19. You couldn't be more wrong... Book smarts certainly does not equate to common sense. I have met many people who graduated from a Master's program that could barely function if you took their job out of a textbook scenario. If you threw a real life zinger (even the most simple complication) into the equation they were sitting there mystified. Again, you couldn't be more wrong if you think you can have book smarts and not have a lick of common sense.
  20. If there ever was a situation where there is no right answer this situation is probably it.... I see the kids point of it has always been a tradition and he was involved in that part of it, but the school really has no way of picking and choosing between who "said" what they did or didn't do. I think the school should have sent a clear message years ago that the tradtion of the road was unacceptable and they would nail anyone's arse to the wall they caught. I also see where the kids who did the right thing and came forward will now say if they had it to do over again, they would not have c
