  1. Now you know no one is going to comment in an open public forum about an active law suite. No need to keep baiting them, it's not going to happen!
  2. Good question. Best be asked to an attorney that deals with bonds. But when have you seen a government body not spend every dime possible?
  3. Take a little time to understand how these projects are funded, when they were approved, and how those funds can ONLY be used. You will see a whole new light on these matters. It's not anywhere as simple as people think they are!
  4. If you do not live here, how can YOU talk about the BOC or BOE? Where do you get your info, PCOM? Boy, that's a real good source!
  5. Why? CIA pilots don't exist! Ever try and catch a "spook"? They have no names and no records. They simply do not exist.
  6. Surepip, on the fiber optics, I think it's related to an article I read a month or 2 ago in the Rome Newspaper (on-line) about a multi-county fiber optics program. It is suppose to bring a fiber optic network to several business districts in Floyd, Polk , Haralson and Paulding Counties. This network is suppose to be connected directly to an Internet Backbone. And most likely will gom to the planned business parks around the airport. But I have not been able to confirm this yet.
  7. And who's to say the while the "new" people are in office that they don't make matter worse? Because the do not know the whole story, work full time jobs and don't have the time or unwilling to take the time, to get up to speed on the real issues and the laws? A completely new board could cause more problems then they fix and take many years after they are gone to fix. Look at Clayton County's BOE for example!
  8. What makes you think any new people will be better then the old ones? They were new at one time also!
  9. I agree. JMT also brings up a good point, most people cannot afford to take a paycut to hold a public office, at least on a local level.
  10. The good people who can do the job will not run for an office because they are afraid to get their name smeared or threats against them because someone will always disagree with how they do things. It's a no win situation. Few people have a thick enough skin to hold a public office!
  11. Great post! Too bad most people reading this will never do anything other then come here to rant and whine because they did not get something their way. The time has come that we ALL need to watch, listen and learn about the people running for offices in EVERY branch of government...local, state and federal!
  12. This is scary but I agree with Surepip on this, 100%. One way to jump start the local economy is by construction of all types. Put people to work any way possible! Working people spend money, more money being spent fuels more jobs.
  13. So what exactly have they mis-managed? And now it's the BOE's fault for the worst recession since the 1930's? And what makes you think that someone new has the knowledge and experience to get the job done during this historic recession? And just about any time you talk to to any employee of any big business in rough financial times, they will always be sick of the current administration! No one's job is safe in this economy, including government employees.
  14. Over the years I had my computer shop in Hiram, we worked on a lot of comuters that were hit by lighting. Usually by the time you hear the thunder you are at risk of damage! ONLY quality surge protectors will help you and you MUST protect everything plugged into your computer. Including cable/dsl connections, modem phone lines for those still on dial-up. Lighting can run thru a cable or DSL line for many miles and still zap your computer!
  15. Now that's some remodeling!
  16. Now that was funny! Gee Surepip, when did the BOC take over control of the City of Hiram? Has anyone told Mayor Rollins yet?
  17. No argument from me about how they word referendums, never understood most of them myself. I usually educate myself about the issue before voting. But this one was not talked about very much to begin with. As for Mr. Vonhof, I have no idea what his citizenship status is, I just remember he wasn't a local guy. He also has or had a house on the back side of the development. Never met the man and that's the first time I've heard his name in many years. Glad to know we were neighbors at one time! Don't care about running for office either, I don't have a problem with how it's being run. I
  18. Please explain what I am wayyyyyy wrong about? Please! Enlighten all of us of my untruthfullness!
  19. I haven't commented about this section of road as the 4-laning is NOT going that far to begin with. So MY comments were well within the scope of the topic and the information I have came directly from the County's DOT director. And he wouldn't discuss those types of issues with me. So, did you get a free sewer hook up because of them tearing up your septic field? You should have! You will need to talk to the State DOT about that. The County cannot set speed limits on ANY road. Speed limits and the placement of the signs is controlled ONLY by the State DOT. The County
  20. State GDOT road project, the County has no control over that. This road has been on the "board" since 1970 and still has not been approved or funded by the State. I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.
  21. It's fully funded and just about ready to go. It took 3 years for the Army Corp of ENG. to approve the project because of the "wetlands" the road crosses. Approval was given late last summer and right of way purchasing started. They should be ready to start construction soon. I guess that is what this meeing is about.
  22. Been right here, for 20 years! In fact, pubby did a story on me and my wife working in our business together during his second month of the FIRST version of paulding.com. And since you are buddies with Mr. Cousins, why don't you ask HIM what is plans are and why he didn't do what YOU expected him to do? lol, you crack me up! And as far as the airport, maybe you should rethink about the time lines of everything related. I am in the real estate circle as you said and I keep up with issues all over the County. I get my information direct from the source, it's simple...you just have to as
  23. Sure the state pulling the funding for the terminal building slowed the construction of that building, but it got funded anyway. And construction is well under way now. Overall, it didn't really have a big impact....not as much as the economy did. Gas tanks were in place a couple of months ago when I did a drive by. I do not know if they passed final inspection and started operations. As for hangers, I haven't had time to attend the meetings for the last six months, I have a conflicting meeting at that time that has required my presence. The last I heard they were working on the desig
