  1. Because traffic count forecasts did justify the expense at that time to build a 4-lane. State funded road projects seldom make sense until you talk to the right people.
  2. Yes I do. They will simply build a new 2-lane bridge right next to the current one. They do it all the time!
  3. Wow, just wow! First thing, I have no agenda here. If I did, I would gladly tell everyone. My ONLY goal is to dispell all the mistruths that grow here. As for the rest of your gibberish, you have been reading PCOM way too much! Do you honestly believe that just because there was some concrete poured at the airport, that a whole new world will sprout up overnight? These projects take years! Add in a record setting recession and that progress was set back another 5 years, may be longer!
  4. I guess PCOM just wouldn't be PCOM without the rampant bashing of EVERTYTHING that goes on in Paulding County. Even the AJC took their jab at the bashing. Had they did just a little research they would have know that Bill Carruth has no where close to the amount of traffic as many of the other roads of the roads. I guess most of yall are good for a laugh or two! For those who may not know, or choose to forget the fine details, the widening of the road is an agreement with a large medical group that is building a new location across from the hospital. This medical group will be building abo
  5. Did you change computers or the operating system? Some sound cards will not work with Win7.
  6. It depends on what YOUR lease agreement says.
  7. The "vote" for the airport was to get approval for a BOND to pay for the construction to build the airport. This is what was turned down. It was not about if we wanted to allow an airport. A couple of years after the last vote, the FAA approached the County to build it. They has fuel sales-tax money they had to spend on constructing a new airport somewhere in the Country. The money was going to be spent somewhere to build an airport, that was the ONLY use that money could have been used for! Like it or not, Paulding County got $45 MILLION of Federal Tax Money for a very small investment o
  8. It was a heated domestic argument with a weapon and one party refused to comply when the first units arrived. Everything ended peacefully.
  9. Sounds like your "strawman" screwed ya. And considering commercial land at that time was going for around $100K+ per acre, I guess it was karma. The zoning code does not specify how "greenspace" is set aside or used (if it can). Again, it's a trade off or a concession. And 3.6 houses average is a lot less the the 5 or 6 you orginally said. And 3.6 is still less then 4, which is within the code.
  10. Ummm, the DMV is funded and controlled by the State of Georgia. The airport was 95% paid for by fuel tax charged by the FAA, and under federal law MUST be spent for new airport construction or maintainence. Sorry, but the money could not have been spent for anything other then the airport.
  11. What? Thats like comparing apple to bowling balls! Maybe, just maybe, if you spent a little time learning the real issues and how the real world works, just maybe you will understand. The BOC meetings are open to the public. The P&Z meetings are open to the public. The Airport Authority meetings are open to the public. Their schedules are posted on paulding.gov website. Take some time to learn how your government works!
  12. First mistake was trying to use a straw buyer. Something I would not say too much about. Second is the use of "Options" contracts (I know they are often used especially with commercial deal), they usually scare the hell out of folks. Third problem is trying to flip the land, it's been illegal for years. Again, I wouldn't talk about that. Sounds to me yall were trying to use smoke and mirrors to hide the true buyers and it came back to bite ya. And as for your comment about PRD's? I have no idea where you are trying to go with that. Your comment does not make sense. PRD ONLY allows an a
  13. Did they say was was the major contributing factor to this increase? My bets would be on an improving house market. If nothing else changes, home sales will be up thru the end of June. Then we will see if the market can stand on it's own without the tax credits.
  14. I'm about as far from an Obama supporter as you! No need for name calling! I didn't call you any, or call you out on anything! If you want to discuss these matters like adults, I'm game! And I'm pretty sure I've sat thru more rezoning hearings then you have ever thought of. And have spent a lot more time studing the issues this County has been facing for the 20 years I have lived here. If the "robber barons" buy a tract of land....they are now the "land owner" and have the legal right to do with it as they want. The same rules apply to them as they do you! Sure the County can fight it in c
  15. Shearin had his faults, just like all of us, but he was the first BOC Chairman to actualy try and push for more commercial development by creating new zoning and better planning. It's a long hard road to create these changes after 30 to 50 years of fighting against commercial development. David Austin has some great ideas and is working hard to bring more change, but the ecomony took over and plans have been slowed. There are a lot of projects in the planning but you may not see them for another 10 years because of the current ecomony. Something most people choose to ignore in here is that
  16. He's only trying to pick a fight because he's bored. Not enough mud slinging to go around. Don't fall for it, he's a master at BS slinging!
  17. My house! Always hearing noises and stuff. Flashes of light and a lot more!
  18. Use the power lines as a rule of thumb. 99% of the time they will be right on the line of the right of way.
  19. Excellent post! Fuel sales is projected to bring $$$$THOUSANDS$$$$$$$ in tax revenues to this County. And guess what, Paulding County just got another national recognition as the 4th fastest growing County in the US from 2000 to 2008 by the National Assoc of REALTORS. And the #1 fastest growing County in Georgia! http://www.realtor.org/research/economists_outlook/didyouknow/dyk031910ab?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+RealtororgResearchHeadlines+%28REALTOR.org+Research+Headlines%29
  20. Already in the plans. Along with a redesign of Goldmine Rd.
  21. Hwy 278 was created to take traffic from Atlanta to Memphis, when it is finished. It was on the drawing board long before the airport. The land that the current Paulding Airport is built on is only about 500 +/- acres of 10,000 acres already owned by the City of Atlanta. Land that was purchased back in the 70's as a possible site for a second major airport to support Hartsfield. The economic develop plan that was put together a few years ago (which won national awards) only calls for the eventual use of about 4,500 acres for industrial and business parks, one being set aside as a technolog
