  1. After 2 layoffs from 2007-2008 I had to use my 401K/profit sharing. I now have a retirement where I work, not a full pay, but a percentage. She has 401K and we are saving. We are paying off everything and refinanced the house to pay off quicker. Saving and penny pinching to retire!
  2. I would have a place in the mountains and a place on the beach, not Florida....Grand Cayman or somewhere like that.
  3. I went to Detroit in the late 90's. I spent some time in an area just outside of Detroit too, I think it was Birmingham?? It was nice. I stayed in an old Ford Mansion that someone purchased and were renovating, in Detroit. It needed a lot of work, but was really cool. There was a wine cellar stocked. There was a hidden, underground, tunnel from the house to the detached garage. For quick, unnoticed getaway I suppose. Now you're talkin'! I love Grand Cayman!
  4. I don't think anyone is in to her as much as she is. Kim loves her some Kim. I am tired of seeing her. LOL She would not know how to act if no one was interrested in her anymore.
  5. The added cost of employers to be required to provide health care coverage and the possibility of minimum wage being raised to $9 an hour will keep many places from hiring full time help. You also have many illegals doing the construction and other jobs for less pay and no insurance coverage. The previously mentioned computer (robot) replacing humans. Jobs are going away. I do see construction picking up slightly. We will most likely never be where we were in 2007, but they are picking up. You do see smaller crews in surveying, engineering, construction, contracting, etc. You see t
  6. It is tough and fun. You get out of it what you put in.
  7. I didn't watch either. I find Taylor Swift annoying. When her songs come on the radio I always turn it. Every song sounds the same, her voice is whiney, her songs are about her ex's, songs are boring, etc. I do like Carrie Underwood.
  8. ALL of my taxes on my paycheck went up as well, I didn't know I made 250K+ until I saw my taxes went up (since we were promised only those making more than 250K).
  9. If you offer them a ride, then no you do not ASK for gas money.
  10. If you want Po Boys, try Gumbeaux's in Douglasville. There is usually a looooong line to get in, but great food!
  11. I can clearly see your sole purpose is to get people angry, but it isn't working. Good luck with your goal on others. I worked in the industry while in school, I know what I actually paid taxes on.
  12. Oh, they started auctioning off houses ONLY after the enonomy crash? Nope
  13. They were auctioning off houses lost to forclosures before, during, and after the economy crash.
  14. Look it up. Google, Yahoo, wiki, etc. It's all free! You should like that! Thankfully I never waited on you. You obviously have never worked in the industry. Also, you cannot compaire Wendy's cashier and a server/bartender. Wendy's cashier does not work for tips (even though servers obvioulsy do not when you are who they are serving).
  15. Wow My mom, along with the other parents in my neighborhood used to whip all the kids too. There would be a line waiting to get whipped when we messed up. But, everyone knew everyone. Parents and kids all knew that could and would happen. I don't think it would go over well for the dollar general employee to whip us if she/he didn't know us. Yes, I would get whipped by my parents if I were in the wrong, but a stranger has no right to lay their hands on another. Maybe an announcement should have been made over the intercom.
  16. Servers pay taxes on a percentage of their food and beverage sales. IRS assumes you are tipping and require the server to report a minimum percentage of the sales. When I was in the restaurant biz I reported tips nightly when I clocked out. Generally you make more in tips than you are "required" to report, but not always. If you had enough bad tippers or non-tippers, you could end up reporting more tips than you actually received. If you receive good service, I think you should tip properly. Do you tip 15-20% when you get good service?
  17. You know that YOU are responsible for the tip when you go to these restaurants. Saying they should pay them more is a whole different conversation. That would make the price of food go way up. I was a server / bartender for 11+ years. I started off not adding tip to the 8+ parties but kept getting burned. A large party required a lot more of your time than smaller parties, which also affects your other tables. If you do not feel the service you received was worthy of the tip, ask for a manager. I do not feel the same tip should be added to to-go orders, but SOME tip should be paid. Tipp
  18. What's funny is people say the dome is outdated. Look in the stands this year and see all those fans and NO empty seats. If you win, the seats will be FULL, old stadium or new.
  19. Where do you go where your server only sets down your plate??? So you told the cook what you wanted, got your own drink and refills, silverware, extra napkins, extra dressing, more ice, etc.... I read the pastor felt bad, but didn't see anywhere she felt bad enough to actually give the server her tip.
  20. Well from what I have heard, the Falcons are paying the additional 100K. Looks like the Falcons will stay in Atlanta, in their new retractable roof dome.
