City of Dallas raising taxes by more than 11% AIRPORT NEEDS MORE MONEY
WHITEY replied to WHITEY's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I know you are not so dense as not to understand the commitment made to the citizens of Paulding County back in 2004 but I will try again..... Calvin Thompson was the Chairman of the PCAA Jerry Shearin Commission Chair, Boyd Austin Mayor of Dallas, Rollins mayor of Hiram along with the representatives of the Chamber of commerce and a now sitting commissioner David Carmichael was all members of the PCAA as well as Blake Swafford some more of the current members were a part of the commitment at the meeting held by the Chamber of Commerce on that date. In addition on that date many of t -
News Junky Regardless of what this lame duck commission does I still have faith in the Political and court systems and I feel assured that this matter will be cleared up in due time. No politician in Paulding County has ever been allowed to go against the will of the people like the Austin boys have and not have to give an accounting to the citizens. These two brothers are ignoring the wishes of the voters and the wrath will come down on them very soon. The airport authority ignored the commissioner that represents that district and this certainty will not stand the test of time.

Mr Thompson was speaking to the Chamber of commerce when the statement was made, and he was then and still is the CHAIRMAN OF THE PAULDING COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY, and was speaking in that capacity. Most of the Airport Authority members were present at this meeting. -

airport would be a private sector airstrip and not a commercial one. There will be no airliners here and believe you me…if there was going to be airliners I would not be a part of this…Never. Ever..would I be a part of this." Let me repeat that last part: "...if there was going to be airliners I would not be a part of this…Never. Ever..would I be a part of this." Can you say he went back on a promise? Sure. But in this quote of his that you keep repeating, he's not speaking as the Airport Authority—he's speaking as himself. Maybe he changed his mind, or maybe others changed the pl -
It sure rings a bell with me, I saw a mug shot today that sure resembles a person that sits on one of his authorities. Fact is it has cropped up in several places the past week. Could this possibly be a inside job?

Nice green the SPLOST pay outs are based on what is negotiated between the cities and the County Doris Devey Mayor of Hiram in my opinion did not adequately represent the City of Hiram and Allowed the Austin boys in a power grab to take the vast Majority of the SPLOST tax dollars.. You are wrong again about the AIRPORT..... The airport Authority is made up in part of Elected officials.... The Chairman of the County Commission, the Mayor of Dallas (Austin brothers) and the mayor of Hiram. Also included is the Chairman of the Airport authority and Other members appointed by the Chairman of -

Bigplay the bricks mortar and metal are not there, They cannot even run a first class general aviation airport with what they have there. The five year plan includes $38,000,000 more to be spent on the airport and none of that includes the millions needed for commercial passenger service. This airport is being ran by folks who do not have a clue of how to run a airport, No EXPERIENCE whatsoever!!! Send Brett Smith a e-mail and ask him he can clear that up for you. Better still do a little figuring for yourself how many fights would it take to have the economic impact that the Cham -

Economics stops it!!!!! There is no way that McCollum has the economic impact of $350,000,000 as the airport authority and the Austin Boys along with the chamber of commerce have asserted . Neither has McCollum created 2,500 To 3,5000 jobs. Or anywhere near that number. One biggie with our airport have you seen the BUSINESS PLAN for our airport that shows the potential to create this many jobs or have a economic this great. If you have please post it here for all to see. Oh.... The McCollum airport is still controlled by the Board of Commissioners also -

If you want to stick with facts I will be glad to discuss the airport with you, Your Bull chit is well just that bull chit. Do you really think that the airport Authority has spent $20,000,000 plus for 6-20 flights per week? With another $38,000,000 in the five year plan?? Get real!!!!! Simple questions One ... how is that going to create 2,500 to 3,500 jobs with a impact of $350,000,000 that the Airport authority and the chamber of commerce so proudly announced almost a year ago. Really... are you serious. I will have to give you this.... YOU ARE A GREAT BULL CHITTER!!!!!! -

The explosive growth of Hiram started in the early nineties when the highway 278 four lane was completed true Jeff Miller was Mayor in the Early Nineties However Boyd Austin was elected in 1995 and Bill Carruth was elected in 1996. The growth started then under Carruth and Boyd Austin first in the southern end and later in the northern section. Shearin was elected in 2000 and Boyd Austin who was then the chairman of the Planning and zoning board along with some select developer friendly committee members and the housing industry exploded here with thousands of new homes being built. This is -

Nope, Boyd Austin has been mayor of Dallas for several terms now and has raised taxes many times and intends to raise them over 11 % again this year. Fact is mayor Austin goes back to the Shearin administration when he served as Chairman of the planning and zoning committee for the entire County. REMEMBER the explosive massive growth that occurred during those years that resulted in the largest TAX INCREASES in the history of Paulding County? Why the redirection these are facts...... Dallas gets 7.2% of the SPLOST and Hiram gets 5.64 % of the SPLOST and Hiram has no Property taxes -

Sort of like the 3 to 2 vote to give away the airport to the PCAA two Austins and one Devy equal a 2 to 1 vote to get what they want. Surepip Dallas needs the tax dollars to keep up all the sidewalks to no where and the fancy water fountains, not to mention all the sewerage lines to the airport. -

In all reality bigplay the reason that Hiram has all the commercial business is the fact that they have the lowest tax rate in this entire area. As you have noted The city of Hiram does not levy any property taxes, on the other hand Dallas and the Austin Boys have got the highest city taxes around plus their water and sewerage rates are among the highest according to my Barber? Of course the Austin boys look out after each other..... Case in point Dallas gets 7.2% of the sales tax derived from the SPLOST and Hiram gets 5.64 % can not believe Doris Devey settled for that but...... som -

Nope the City of Dallas issued the bonds through the IBA. A little trick the Austin boys do to keep from asking the voters to approve it through a referendum . The IBA has over $30,000,000 in VARIOUS bonds throughout the cities and the County For instance the New Hanger and Water tank at the airport about $ 3,000,000 the film studio on Bill Carruth almost $6,000,000 The Austin Brothers and the IBA are out of control and need to be reined in. Not going to get any better with the Austin boys controlling the spending -

The City of Dallas has extended the Dallas sewer system directly to the East end of the Airport Property using the Industrial Building authority to issue $6,400,000 in Bonds to provide this service. Dallas property values have increased like other property values in Paulding and they will be collecting more taxes city wide than they did last year. Some one has to pay for the sewerage expansion, since the city did the expansion the County is not responsible. This expansion really smells bad (No pun intended)but.............. I have never seen the city extend sewer service outside -
Dallas New Era Notice of Property Tax Increase The governing authority of the City of Dallas has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 11.07%. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at Dallas City Hall Council Chambers at 129 East memorial Drive, Dallas, Ga. on October 1, 2014 at 11:00am and 2:00pm. Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at Dallas City Hall Council Chambers, 129 East Memorial Drive, Dallas, Ga. on October 6, 2014 at 7:00pm. Well th

The pure and simple fact is the record will clearly show that the air show was going to be privatized in 2015 and was not going to be even planned for 2014. The Airport could not pay for it and it was illegal for the IBA to pay for it using tax dollars. Heck If you read the motion filed last Friday against the Airport Authority and the IBA members it was clearly pointed out that part of the motion was the allegation that the IBA members were actually funding the air show and by o stretch of the imagination could one construe that the Constitutional Amendment that created the Industrial

Not real sure but I believe that the decision not to schedule the air show was due to the losses associated with the event. Their is a a video of the meeting and I believe it was discussed in the November 2013 PCAA meeting. If this is correct the settlement of the EA was in December 2013 (I believe) I was at the meeting when it was discussed and I do not recall it not being scheduled due to the EA. In any event I am sure that the IBA will no longer be allowed to spend tax dollars on the air show, which is part of the new motion that was filed last Friday. Dang folks..... why would we

Here is what I posted.... BeachBum You really need to stick with the truth and facts, A majority of taxes are not paid by Property owners, If I am wrong then show me!!!! I will say it again and type it very slowly where you and El Zorro can comprehend it. Property taxes account for less than half of all the taxes collected by the County. The staae AND County assess a 7% tax on all most everything that you purchase here in this county. Look at the Chairman's Budget for the next fiscal year and I am sure you and El Zorro will see that property taxes are not a majority of the tax -

Never embarrassed at what Beach Bum says about me, Really she has her foot I n her mouth...... Again.... PROPERTY TAXES are a smaller portion of the taxes that I pay. The gasoline tax and sales tax is by far the greater tax Heck we all pay 7% on anything we buy with very few exceptions. Bought a new truck and paid more taxes there that I pay in property taxes for a few years not to mention all the other things I pay sales tax on If memory serves me right the property tax generates appox. $50,000,000 per year the County also gets about that much more on all the other taxes they access Heck t
