I wouldn't hold him back going from 5th into middle school. I held mine back, but my son was in kindergarden because he was socially immature and my daughter in first grade, because she couldn't read. We held Jordan back, but again it was first grade. I think it does wonders at that age, but I think at 5th grade heading into middle school would be devastating. The CRCT is not EVERYTHING (I personally hate the CRCT). How is he doing overall? Sorry you're just catching up, but all of this is old news.............. and Diprivan is a drug only used in hospitals with supervision to put people "under" before surgery. Michael suffered from terrible insomnia and apparently used this drug to get some rest. He just didn't count on resting this long. No the beach is not nice, and it's a looooong way. It seemed like it took us forever. Only been once and won't go back. Go to Destin if you want pretty beaches. 5-6 hours away. Depending on how often you stop. We stayed on Okaloosa Island next to Destin a couple of years ago in a condo and it was very nice. But you won't get a condo for 3 days.

I've had one of the best defensive driving courses ever offered. When I worked for Southern Bell, and again with Bell South. I used that standard to teach my children how to drive. Always be aware of the other driver and try to anticipate his move. I know what I'm doing, I just don't know what the other guy is going to do. Defensive driving is the best driving, especially on a motorcycle. We all think we're above average, don't we. And this area is full of some of the most stupid drivers I've ever seen. They put their emergency flashers on when it rains (instead of pulling off the road if they're that scared)........... and they STOP at a YELLOW flashing light, causing the guy behind them to rear end them. No they're not. Destin is georgeous, and I love to go down to the warfs when the boats come in with the fish. And we always cross the bridge into Ft. Walton and on the left is a GREAT restaurant called STAFF'S. If you go, eat at Staffs.

You know it's about 6 hours to Destin, depending on how you go, could be between 5-6 hours. Since you only have 3 days why don't you go someplace closer? Savannah is only 4 hours away, Interstate all the way. Stay out on Tybee. On the beach and they have a lighthouse. We did. We went down for Thanksgiving and stayed out on Tybee and drove into town to shop and look around. Just type in any search engine "Hotels in Destin, Fl" and it will take you to multiple listings. Check the reviews for each listing. When we went to Siesta Key, I started in February looking at places on-line, reading reviews, looking for everything I wanted in a 7 day vacation for May. It literally took me two weeks to narrow it down and finally select a place to stay. I'm very picky and it has to be clean. And I must say, I think I picked the nicest resort on the island, we stayed on the beach and had a great time. Good luck!

I've had to use a lot of parking decks for work, doctors, etc. And I DON'T drive fast in parking decks. No reason to, too many pedestrians and other cars looking to park or backing out. You never know what's going to happen. I drive fast, but only when it's safe. Safe if the operative word. I believe if everyone would slow down just a little bit when it's raining and keep a steady speed, instread of freaking out, there would be fewer accidents. I consider myself an above average driver. I drive fast, but I'm consistent and courteous. I can drive anywhere and just about anything. My navagation skills are excellent as well as my directional skills. I scored 95% on the test, I missed the 3 seconds following behind a car. I put 10 seconds.
