Seriously, we shot down a CDL Licensing Facility in Paulding?
Rose Luxemburg replied to gregaperry's topic in RECENT TOPICS
3.5 million on our end and the state only coughing up $500,000, I say no. If the numbers were reversed, or if we at max had to throw in a million I'd be more in favor of it. Hopefully, more information or funding from the state will become available and we can re-evaluate. I am not against having the facility in Paulding, BTW, the numbers just need to make more sense. -
I am glad to see that cases are finally being heard, we deal the verdicts and move on...

Drug testing High School Student Athletes
Rose Luxemburg replied to mancfan's topic in RECENT TOPICS
What other activities in high school require random drug testing? Band, FBLA, 4H, other clubs?. If all other extra curricular activities are not included I think it sounds discriminatory.. -

What happened at Commissioner's meeting?
Rose Luxemburg replied to Coppertop's Pop's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The BOC has a fiduciary responsibility to the citizens to collect the unpaid debts by the IBA and AA. The real story is the ongoing pissing war between the BOC and the authorities that needs to be resolved before the county goes broke from litigation and lost economic development opportunities due to Paulding's reputation of being business unfriendly and politically unstable... Just heard today of several businesses locating elsewhere because of the conflict in Paulding. The sooner we resolve our issues they better off this county will be... I think we both can agree on that... -

Taking what is hopefully the last cool spell and having chili. I finally found a local source (Rockmart) for French's Texas style chili-o mix as opposed to buying it in Alabama when I go home at Piggly Wiggly and can have chili more often....

Who else is running for this position? In all honestly, it is a sad state that this position is even an elected position, no less a partisan one...

Since this airport is a "regional issue" are you advocating that an airport that Paulding citizens pay for have members placed on the Authority from other counties? Just trying to understand exactly what that translates into via legislation and operationally.. -

Being funded by government entities and others does not make it a governmental entity per se --- it's listed as public private partnership. http://www.pauldingdevelopment.org/about-paulding-county/paulding-county-ed/ -

Apparently there is a lot of angst due to the duration and timing of various contracts regarding the Airport such as the one between the Propeller and the AA and with the IGA between the BOC and the AA. I am not an attorney, but have dealt with plenty of contracts in my days and have never heard of government contracts specifically and intentionally designed with a duration limited to the that of the current elected officials. -

Rose Luxemburg replied to michaelsudan's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The Chamber and EDO are non governmental entities. The EDO has a contract with Paulding County to provide services and are free place who they want on the Board, and I would want to see both PC residents and large business owners here in the County represented and hire the most qualified person for the job, regardless of where they live. I believe the Chamber no longer receives funds from the County via the IBA. Regardless, these entities are free to organize themselves as the choose. My personal feeling is since the IBA and AA have certain powers such as eminent domain and bonding capabiliti -

I haven't looked at the legislation in years. Most residents would be PC residents due to the composition carrying over from the IBA with the exception of the Chamber. If it is not specifically worded for the remaining positions, it has been customary practice to my knowledge that those remaining seats be filled by PC residents. It would be interesting to see how citizens would react to non county residents serving on this board...
