Gifted Classes Cut Because They Are Not Diverse Enough
Foxmeister replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The only way to make everyone equal in public education is to attempt to dumb everyone down. When are people going to learn you cannot make everyone equal? Our public education system is failing because elected officials are too interested in making everything "fair and equal." -

I have come to the conclusion TP is one of those people who when they are unable to contribute anything knowledgeable or constructive to a discussion, then attempts to change the course of the discussion to something he thinks he knows something about. -
Knowing How To Cheat, And Get Away With It, Is BS

You complain about people who cheat others and then you suggest honest people cheat to beat the cheaters. Isn't that just compounding the problem? -
Gifted Classes Cut Because They Are Not Diverse Enough

One of the largest problems with public education is not a lack of money, brick and mortars, books, or the lack of computers. The biggest problem right now in education are the people running it who believe everything has to be "fair." In order to make things "fair," they feel it necessary to lower the bar. The results are higher dropout rates, lower SAT and ACT scores, graduates who cannot read at their grade level, and the lack of preparation towards achieving a higher education. These people are dumbing down this country. Though I no longer have children in school, I still believe in v -

Again you display your ignorance. Kids don't have a choice to move. Do you really think it's that easy for parents to just pick up and move because their school system is failing? Running away from the problem is not the solution either. You sir are a part of the problem. -

Indeed you are correct. It was intended for TP. This is like the third of fourth time I've replied to someone's post and it got tagged to someone else. I apologize. It was intended for TP. -

I think you have demonstrated your ignorance on the importance of education for the youth of this country. The ignorance you display is often the problem with this country. ETA: This response was intended for The Postman. What gives pubby? This is like the third time I've responded to someone's post and it gets tagged to someone for which it was not intended. Is the same reason some of us can't use the edit buttons and emoticons? -
Gifted Classes Cut Because They Are Not Diverse Enough

There are academically gifted students who need advanced classes to challenge them and to keep their interests. When you put them into classes that don't challenge their academic gifts, they become bored and don't perform as well. When I was in high school, I performed much better in the very few classes they had that offered challenges. I did not perform well in those classes that offered no challenges as I found them boring and not worth my time. I graduated high school with only average grades. I've always been a competitive person and I love to be challenged. While in college I -
I think it backfired, but they say even bad publicity builds name recognition and people have short memories.

I wonder why he feels it's important to bring in Hitler and race in this discussion when neither have anything to do with it.

Gifted Classes Cut Because They Are Not Diverse Enough

This is really a stupid decision. We have elected officials who are so worried about political correctness (that's what diversification and "fairness" are in this case) that they will hinder the advancement of education in their school system because not enough minority students are in the advanced classes. Let's punish a smart kid because s/he is white. If a school is a third white, a third black, and a third Hispanic do they really expect the advanced classes to be a third white, a third black, and a third Hispanic? I would say that school is diverse, what more do they want? -
Reed was taking the opportunity to get in front of every media outlet he could because he has higher political aspirations and wants to build his name recognition outside Atlanta.

You would make a terrible intelligence analyst.

What we have to worry about is it turning to ice after it hits the roads. ETA Just checked the weather for next Friday and it's calling for rain. As we all know, that can change to about anything.

I was living in Augusta in 1973. That February, we had a good snowstorm. Here's some pictures. http://chronicle.augusta.com/slideshow/2013-02-08/historic-photos-and-video-big-snow-1973#slide-1 For some reason the buttons for posting links and emoticons aren't working for me.

Exactly. There would have been plenty of time to have delayed or cancel school. We wouldn't have had a situation where kids and teachers had to spend the night at school and are still there because the busses cannot move on the icy roads.

Since the Sheriff's Office dispatch center is in operation 24/7/365, I suggest they monitor the weather forecasts from NWS. As soon as a weather warning is issued, they could call school superintendents to inform them of it. When it becomes a Winter Storm Warning, the superintendent then should put out notice school is cancelled or delayed. If this system had been in place, the very least the school superintendents could have done was issued a two-hour delay for the start of school. Had they done that yesterday, they would have seen further forecasts or even the snow beginning to fall to c

Something's not right because the post I reply to is showing another post. Weird. What this should be titled is, "Alabama fans reaction to snow."
-
I believe it is the responsibility of the district school superintendent not the BoE to make the call to cancel school or send the kids home early. I'm not giving that person a pass on this, but this is what happens when you build only two snow days into a school year and give so many one week vacation periods during the year as well. All of you who think it's great students get a week off for "Fall Break," a whole week off for Thanksgiving, a week of for "Winter Break," and then another week off for "Spring Break" should think about all of this again.

Never mind. You're talking about snow and not Stradial.

Another post from you that doesn't make any sense. A DEVOUT Christian wouldn't sell his soul.

Some Woman Are Helpless Without Uncle Sugar
Foxmeister replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Perhaps many women in those countries go in for a medical exam so it's determined which ones to buy before they buy them over the counter. I've read the cost of birth control pills are much lower in those countries that sell them over the counter. I don't recall my making comments about sex toys. That doesn't mean I didn't. How many insults and rude comments have you made that were uncalled for. As far as I have determined, you hold everyone to a higher standard than you do yourself. -
I know several devout Christians who are rich.

There are a lot of countries where women can buy birth control pills over the counter. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists have endorsed making birth control pills available without a prescription. She won't apologize; never has.
