I feel grateful that my son was able to get home last night at all. He works in Buckhead and lives in Hiram...about 30 miles...and NORMALLY it takes him about an hour or so to get home . YESTERDAY he left Buckhead at 4 PM ...... 7 hours later he arrived in Hiram. He was on I75 for 5 hours alone ...then extra 2 hours to get here. 11 at night.. BUT now that I see so many were or still are- out there ...I am just so grateful. There should have been cinders put on those interstates BEFORE the snow came. -
If children are present for a minimum of 2 hours....the school district gets credit as a whole day in regards to state funding . That's how it worked in NYS.. It was all about money.....the district gets money for every day students are in that building and lose money if there is a snow day. That's where central office administrators are coming from..... AND yes...those same central office administrators leave work early ANY TIME they so desire. And they leave for vacations a day or two earlier also. And they get much much larger raises than teachers or bus drivers. I taught 33 years in NYS.

Speed Limit on 278 from Wendy's to The new Racetrac at Cleburne
NEWTOHIRAM replied to clp721's topic in RECENT TOPICS
"The Hiram police are very active catching speeders in this area" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I WISH ! ! THE SPEED LIMIT IS WAY TOO HIGH FOR HOW BUSY THIS ROAD IS. Rear end collisions every single day....because people are going so fast and not paying attention at all. I hate it. -
Joe Carrol will be back. Just read a piece about this show yesterday. This year the writers also have said they won't make all the cops look so stupid. Im waiting for Nurse Jackie and Longmire. Love Spader on The Blacklist..... and oh....yes......WALKING DEAD. In 3 weeks I think.

Our neighbors have this cat food outdoors....so the bobcat has been there twice in like 10 days. They are feeding 2 stray cats actually..

The box ????? We've been hearing a lot of coyotes...in the four nights immediately following Christmas. And NOW...we have a bobcat lurking next door ! No wonder our dog...who SELDOM barks....has gone out on quite a few nights lately and emitted some loud barks. PS....5 days ago.....a huge Red Shouldered Hawk was perching on top of our fence..... Not sure what he was after.

We live right off Poplar Springs Road....just around corner from the New Aldi in Hiram. We are 2 tenths of a mile from 278...in a development called POPLAR FARMS. This is Janary 8th. Twice in the last 10 days ...our neighbors have seen a bobcat in their back yard. Our yards do adjoin a small woods. Once their own cat was in the yard sitting and the bobcat was there. It ran off when the lady hollered something to it. Her cat is fed in the backyard....so perhaps in this very cold spell the bobcat was hungry. They are indeed sure it was a bobcat...but they took no photo.

Marijuana Ruling Could Signal End of Prohibition on Pot

Georgia.....a few decades behind.. cant buy wine in most counties on Sunday .......very very antiquated law. The Governor has said he will NEVER allow a casino in Atlanta area..or anywhere else for that matter. Horse racing......one track would be great !! These things a casino ... and a horse track would bring in a lot of revenue to the state. So Georgia legalizing pot....even for just medical reasons......I just don't see it ever happening here. Thanks for letting me give my opinion. -
We used Stephens Fencing.....in Douglasville. two years ago....but not for chain link. They were very good at their job.....and fast....and reasonable. Returned phone calls promptly and came when they said they would...etc. The head guy was really nice....he came with 2 Experienced helpers ! Our realtor had recommended them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Same family owns both Scalini's and Provinos. Found that out when I planned our son's rehearsal dinner at Provinos in Canton. Had called Scalinis first....they referred to Provinos as their "sister" restaurant. I like both of course !! Also have heard a lot about Fusco's in Acworth. PS....we ate once at Vincents....six of us and all of us liked our meals. this was about a year ago.

You wont know...how an epidural will work for YOU...unless you at least get ONE shot and then make a decision. My husband...age 68 has pretty bad spinal stenosis....two herniated discs coupled with arthritis. ( auto accident in 1986 and subsequent falls at work in the 1990s ) For years he has had backaches......but this year in February.....he woke up one morning and could hardly walk more than 5 steps before collapsing to the floor. Resting in a chair for 3 days did not help. 800 mg of Advil ....did nothing. Pain patches did nothing. He had no pain while sitting....but on

Our visit included the area around the Black Hills....Mt Rushmore, Rapid City , Deadwood and Spearfish, and Custer. Beautiful area indeed.....but I have always loved the West . Just be ready ready ready for HARSH winters. More than a few weeks worth for sure. Have heard from friends about Bozeman, Montana. Museums, airport, mall, hospital, and close to Yellowstone Park.

Some Men Will Commit Contraceptive Sabotage

As a 64 year old woman...... I appreciate your post immensely. I have seen huge changes in my lifetime...and now things are going so far backwards I cannot believe it. What would men do if we regulated personal reproductive issues and medical procedures for THEM ???? -
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LOL....WRONG TURN.....yes.... Hubby and I came to Atlanta area because our two sons...our only children were both down here. I hate the high intense heat...but hated 60 years of the NY winters, too. They came down after college because of jobs and because of hating winters . For us.....that meant we got to see our boys only twice a year. They got home once in summer and briefly at Christmas time. We spent several years only seeing them twice a year. TIME marches on and you soo

we tired the new restaurant at crossroads
NEWTOHIRAM replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Hubby and I went in mid July. We live almost in Powder Springs. People were very friendly. It was early on a Saturday about 430 PM. I had a chicken salad and hubby had Lasagna. We were both satisfied with our food and plan to return. Hubby talked to the owner or manager who said he was in business with the nephew of the owner of the Marietta Diner. They have 3 places they operate together . City Cafe in Atlanta Some Mexican place on Cobb Parkway near the COBB energy center and then Crossroads. I was happy to have someplace other to go to than a chain restaurant... or a bb -
I just called Cedarcrest Tavern... THEY HAVE A NEW OWNER , TOO ..the kid said. BUT he said that Crossroads Neighborhood Grille is the one that in owned by the son of the owner of The Marietta Diner. SO.....they BOTH have new owners.
