  1. Did you know that you can't post the name of an expensive and delicious Japanese mushroom on this board??? It somehow got changed to "cheese".!!! Bunch of prudes!!!!
  2. I've always been fascinated with wild mushrooms and I've just found what I think may be white chanterelles growing under a 15-year old fir that was once a Christmas tree in my yard. But I'm not gonna eat 'em without knowing more!! Are there any folks here who are experts, or any clubs around Paulding of mushroom lovers? I've got some logs innoculated with cheezeaki and oyster mushrooms that I just started in April so it's going to be a while before I see if that worked. Anybody have any experience with that?
  3. No they didn't, they're in perfect condition. They probably mean something to somebody.
  4. I clicked on this hoping to see nekked loins!!!
  5. This evening at the intersection of Dallas Nebo and Nebo Road (where Ingle's, Polie's, and Poppa John's is), I found a triangular folded set of three apparently brand new LSU (Louisiana State University) Tigers flags laying in the road. I stopped and picked them up because the fold looked like the way you fold an American flag. If they are yours, please reply and I'll get them back to you.
  6. I think a lot of the fireworks I'm hearing going off in my neighborhood tonight might be illegal in the state of Georgia and apparently nothing is being done about them because they keep going on. They sound like much more than sparklers and ground fountains. I feel like a lot of my taxpayer money was probably used to pass these laws and I'm wondering why they aren't being enforced. (I hope you realize that I'm just being facetious here and wondering why these stupid laws exist in the first place.)
  7. Channel 11 finally found someone who is excited by Chesley McNeil and the Wiz-O-Meter and did a little news piece about him tonight, a 4-year-old child with Down's Syndrome. I know, it's cruel to bring this up like that, but ever since it has started I have thought that Chesley is one of the most boring personalities on television and the Wiz-O-Meter is stupid and childish. NBC and channel 11 is probably my most watched network, but I really dread to see the weather come on with him. Whadda y'all think?
  8. The rice tissue they're made of dissolves in the first rain, and they don't come down until the wax and the little piece of cardboard that lifts them has completely burned away. They have some tiny guage steel wires holding the paper bag open that rust away in no time, unlike the bags of fast food wrappers, styrofoam cups and hamburger boxes that I pick up every day on the road in front of my house. Paulding is full of pigs!
  9. I hated history in school and I hate it now! I think it just causes a lot of resentment and hatred and just shows the past stupidity of mankind. Live for the present, the past is over and done with and can't be changed! Yes, I know that there's some kind of saying that history is doomed to repeat itself blah, blah, blah, but I think that's BS. And while I'm on this rant, I feel that any occurrences of the Latin language should be removed from all of our legal processes. It's a dead language! Nobody understands it and it only serves.... Never mind! I had typed some more but went back to cha
  10. Just sky lanterns! Do a Google search for them. They're beautiful. I've launched a few of them myself and watched them drift off for what looked like miles. One time I think I saw a little private plane circle one to maybe see what it was. They're so pretty and simple and fun that they're probably against the law.
  11. It's not bacteria, it's a venom with a specifically high toxicity to humans that cats have developed through the ages. They only use it on adults because they can just suck the life out of babies without needing to use it.
  12. Yeah for Patak's!!!! But don't let too many people in on that little secret!
  13. Funny to see your post since I've been on a karaoke machine quest for the last two months. Don't buy the $50-or-so Emerson you might see on Amazon or other places. Complete piece of junk! Wouldn't spin a disk right out of the box. I opened it up and found the problem (I'm a tech) but couldn't fix it because it was a blatant manufacturing defect. No way it could have been tested before it left the factory. It had almost no controls on the front, everything has to be controlled with tiny, repeat, tiny, buttons on the remote control. Luckily, Amazon has no problem with letting you return things.
  14. You have to buy $50 worth of other groceries to get this price (no alcohol or tobacco products). It's easy to miss the sign.
  15. I'm asking this question out of total ignorance about other health care systems, and I'm also pleading that you don't slam or criticize me or take this topic way off into left or right field, because I'm not asking for any kind of opinion about our current system or the new one proposed. Please just answer, and give any details, if you can, about any other countries in the world that have health care systems like our current one and how do they work?
  16. I had this same thought today. Why not just go ahead and make it 50 cents, I wouldn't mind? By the way, .50 cents is only half a penny (not trying to be a smart-a$$, but my math mind is running overtime after starting the solar energy course).
  17. I just noticed that they put 3 "No Parking" signs across the dam between Lake Jane and Lindsey Lake. There's already guard rails less than 2-feet from the edge of the pavement on both side of the road all the way across the dam. There's no room to park there anyway unless you just stop in the road, which I've never seen anybody do. How much do highway signs cost to put up somewhere they're not needed?
  18. Take a look at the Nook HD+ before you buy any tablet. They've dropped the price and it's a super bargain right now. $149 for the 16Gig or $179 for the 32Gig model. Great screen resolution and you can install the CyanogenMod on it and bypass the Barnes & Noble operating system and have it run pure Android (do a search on how to do this, you might need a computer geek friend to help). It'll do anything the other Android tablets will do.
  19. Is anyone on here taking this course? I've started it and listened to the first week's lectures, but after seeing the 3rd homework question I'm wondering what I've gotten into. The lectures covered the history and possible future of solar energy, but the homework jumped quickly into some pretty complex math and calculus that I didn't see in the lectures. I'm wondering if I'm missing something or not following everything in the proper order before tackling the questions. Anybody have any comments?
  20. I'm all for services like this and I don't understand what all of the opposition to it could be. I feel like once a television station or network has spewed (or in the case of a lot of network shows these days, vomited) an unencrypted program out into the airwaves it should be fair game for anyone to do with as they please. It should instantly become public domain. I mean how much more "public domain" could you get when you blast something omnidirectionally out into the air? If you pick it up, or if they pick it up and redistribute it over the internet, you're going to get the commercials too,
  21. Just curious, has anything happened at the studio since it opened? I read something about part of the movie "42" being filmed there, but looking at IMDb's location listing for "42" nothing's mentioned. The studio has a web site along with Facebook and Twitter pages but there's nothing on them other than three year old stuff about the glorious facilities. Is it generating any revenue at all? How much is it costing to maintain? When do we, the taxpayers, have to start paying for it, or are we already? Maybe Paulding County should produce it's own remake of "The Music Man". I'm sure we could
