  1. Agree with you TOTALLY on all of it! I make my meal by filling up on dressing mostly. Wow! I'm so impressed by the rest of you having dressing often throughout the year! I think I'm going to follow suit. How thoughtful! I love comfort food. I really do find it comforting especially when I'm having a rough day/week, when it's cold and dreary outside or when I'm really missing my Mom. Besides, it is usually cheap to make, goes a long way and makes wonderful leftovers. Nothing better than needing a late snack and remembering the yummy comfort food in the fridge . That was so sweet of
  2. Love it! I bet you'll beat your neighbors taking them down too.
  3. Totally agree. My Mother and I have been thrift store shopping my entire life(she's no longer with us but I've carried on the tradition). I know how to do it and where to go. I LOVE it and HATE shopping almost anywhere else knowing I'm paying 4 times as much. I don't necessarily Chrsitmas shop for other people this way but certainly for myself and for a lot of my Christmas decorating, I do. And don't even TRY to get me inside a mall. I AINT GOIN'. Torture to me. I barter, too. I have literally saved thousands doing this. I trade salon services. I have bartered for hardwood floors in my ho
  4. I have never understood why people actually get mad about Chic fil A , their values and being closed on Sunday. It's their right to vote with their feet and not eat there but it's just so silly to get upset about someone else having personal convictions and sticking by them(even when they could literally make millions).
  5. Wednesdays? This stuff is just too good to only have twice a year. Who made that rule?
  6. haha ....every year they make the most annoying holiday sommercials and keep running them til Valentines Day, I swear. Not Kohl's necessarily, just whoever. So annoying!!!!
  7. He's soooo cute! You just have pretty kids, that's all there is to it. The apple and the tree, ya know.
  8. Well, phooey . I'm 4 1/2 hrs away in Valdosta or I'd be on my way. Your sweets always sound sooooo good. Hope you are doing great in your location.
  9. BS, you're right. I'm gonna start one about which night to Trick or Treat instead.
  10. Yeah, they are baaaaaaaad neighbors. That's awful and the mean dog with you having little ones would really tick me off.
  11. I can fit in most luggage and I dont eat much. Take me with you?!!?!?!?! Yeah...I just dont get it. It would be like volunteering for torture for me.
  12. I think you're right actually. He waited a good amount of time before going to the police though. Sorry...the first time I saw him speak was the day it happened and they didnt have the rest of his part of that incident. Still though, he couldve helped to end this earlier by coming forward. The really sick part of that is there are organizations that "educate" men(mostly)on ways to earn the trust of young boys in order to have a "relationship" with them, like NAMBLA. Charities and churches are one of the main ways they teach to find boys with parents who are trusting and will leave th
  13. I've dealt with bad neighbors like this before. Good neighbors are wonderful but bad ones are just horrendous. When I lived in Dallas in my first house(off of 92 and Dallas Hwy), I had the most terrible, rude, redneck neighbors, with out of control kids and dogs, all 11 yrs I lived there. Not like you can just move them. You can, however, let their incessantly barking dog out of his gate late at night under the cover of darkness, pat him and tell him to run like the wind . When asked you can say "last time I saw him, he was going that way ". Just sayin' .
  14. I hope you get it, too. I want one. I think they are soooo nice to have. My Bday is the 30th so I feel ya. My Mom always worried about my Bday being lost in the shuffle. She said that "everybody was tired, broke and out of town" on my bday . I never minded it though. I think it's an exciting time for a birthday.
  15. Good to see you here on Pcom again . I feel the same way and I too forgot about it being the day before and was sweating bullets waiting ALL day on an nonholiday FedEx delivery. I get lots of them and had to have this before tomorrow for work. He always gets here by noon at least. So, by 4 pm I was NERVOUS, only to realize that DUH, he's a little busier today . He got here in time thank goodness and I'm glad I didnt have to go anywhere and sure don't want to go anywhere Friday! I dont think I'm a "anti-shopper", just anti-crowded stores and traffic. I guess I do have to be in the mo
  16. Rookie, I totally agree with you. I am a VERY frugal shopper year round and I get deals better than any of the Black Friday sales. Just have to know how to dig for them a little but for me, that's the fun part.
  17. yes it does. I think this is much bigger than any of us thought at first. When I saw his assistant interviewed about not coming forward when he saw him in an "inappropriate act with a boy"(described as rape in the crime report now), I realized that it is beyond the usual "sicko". This guy was afraid of losing his job so he did nothing. Can you imagine the others who did the same we don't even know about yet?
  18. Yikes...me either, LR!!! I woke up feelin' really sluggish today . Thankfully I had a dinner party last weekend and cleaned the entire house from top to bottom. So, all I have to do there is straighten and freshen it up. However, I'll be up early in the a.m. cooking. My saving grace is I'm only having 6 this year and we aren't eating until 6pm so I should be okay. I do the same thing. It's till a good feeling to get it done even if it does run you ragged for a couple days.
  19. Congratulations on your retirement and I hope you and yours have the best Thanksgiving yet. I know we all have a lot to be thankful for.
  20. Yes, girl, you sure can! If anybody gives you any trouble about it, tell 'em I'll get 'em!...on Saturday, of course. Me too, Lucky. I try to avoid crowds anytime I shop, whether it's the grocery store, Walmart or wherever. Black Friday shopping is my idea of the 7th circle of hell.
  21. in my eye than to have to leave my house, especially to shop , on Black Friday. I don't know how ya'll do it.
  22. That's sweet. Enjoy it! I remember when my now adult son was that age and so excited about Christmas. I don't have a "must have". All I want is to decorate, cook, listen to Christmas music and enjoy the Season. I've skipped it for three yrs and I'm so ready to be excited about it again.
  23. I really enjoyed reading that, JJ. Reminded me of stories my Grandparents and my Mother used to tell me. My Grandfather worked in a sawmill for many years in his younger life in Griffin. My Grandmother, who was orphaned by 15 yrs old, learned to sew on an old Singer her Dad brought home annd said to her and her sister(my Great Aunt), "girls, I want you to learn to sew." That was it. They adored him and he was a great man and Father but that's all the instruction they received. They both learned to sew and became masters at it. Can you imagine a parent trying that now?! She wen
  24. Sounds odd, yes. But, I see little difference in the police escorting them to hopefully make it safer for everyone than in any other kind of caravan or movement that warrants a police escort with some sort of permit. Doesnt mean the city/county was supporting their cause.
