  1. Follow Hwy. 411 from Cartersville all the way to Maryville, TN then Hwy. 321 to Townsend to left through Wears Valley to Pigeon Forge. Shortest, but a little slower (20 minutes), route. Much more peaceful and scenic ride.
  2. MM, if you didn't know the dog was pregnant that means that the vet didn't know it either. If it is not easily visible, then there is no choice. Once you open the dog for the spay, you can't just sew her back up and allow the puppies to be born. It doesn't work that way. This was not a murder but due to the irresponsibility of the owner (whoever that was) allowing their dog to become pregnant before being spayed. I'm afraid that Dr. Lugar is being wrongfully crucified here. Again, there is a supervisor and employee who are the responsible ones for taking these dogs to be euthanized
  3. By filing an Open Records Request with the County at elinton@co.douglas.ga.us
  4. These dogs were picked up on 6/28 (Friday) and euthanized on 7/1 (Monday) per open records request. They were not even given the allotted time to be reclaimed or adopted. This terrible event comes on the heals of a dog being euthanized who had a rescue on the way to pick him up. Many questions need to be answered by management.
  5. The blame is being badly misplaced here and there is much more to this story. Douglas County Animal Control sent these dogs (two dogs, only 1 eye infection) to Dr. Lugar TO BE EUTHANIZED knowing that the owner was on her way. Dogs are NOT treated by Douglas County Animal Control for eye infections. They only go to the vet to be put down in most cases. Place the blame and questions on those who sent these two dogs to their death, not the vet who was only doing the job she unfortunately must do hundreds of times each month. Mistakes happen, but Douglas County Animal Control sho
  6. Beautiful. Saw one recently in Cedartown but have never seen one here.
  7. They are not gassed and never have been in Paulding County. They certainly aren't put in with dogs either. The gas chamber is illegal in Georgia shelters. Running the animals off for someone else to deal with isn't helping. Believe it or not, there are neighborhoods that are glad to have feral cats for rodent control and work with the Humane Society to fix them so the multiplying stops. Cats are great snake catchers. Of course, snakes are GOOD to have around if not poisonous, but hard to get that across too. And then sometimes Re-Appear Ball-less!
  8. Also, let the dumb-azz neighbor know that Paulding Humane Society will gladly help him get his unneutered male fixed.
  9. There are two humane options. First, you can trap them, let Paulding Humane Society help fix them and then release them if any neighbors are willing to feed them (they are great for rat and snake control) OR Trap them and take them to Animal Control to be humanely euthanized. Traps are available for a refundable deposit at Animal Control. The problem won't go away until someone is willing to take the time to do something about it (in a HUMANE way.)

  11. They are a gorgeous group and very lucky to have you, GLG! I wish other business owners would take your lead, fix the strays at their places of business and keep them. The benefits are many. Pest control and great curb appeal to name a couple!!!
  12. Thank you for helping him. Please e-mail me at pauldinghumane@aol.com or pm me here and we'll be glad to get you into the Paulding Humane Society SNAP program (Spay Neuter Assistance Program.) We have options for VERY affordable spays and neuters locally.
  13. Video of the meeting can be viewed on Facebook at "No-Kill - Paulding County, GA" or "Paulding County Animal Shelter Pets" and soon to be on the official website at www.nokillpaulding.com rockysmom, sorry for the late notice but up-to-date information will always be available on the above websites. Thanks to the great turn-out and all of the support here for positive change at Animal Control. Message from the Facebook site: Wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone that came out to the Commissioner's meeting tonight! It was awesome to see all the familiar faces, peo
  14. P.S. They are asking everyone to wear RED tonight to show your support. Thank you.
  15. No-Kill Paulding will be addressing the Board of Commissioners tonight at their regular 7 p.m. meeting. No-Kill Paulding has already made headway in bringing the county animal control back to a more adoption friendly facility. Their influence, along with concerned county residents, has forced a change back to more public-friendly hours and many adoptions are taking place now that they have been allowed to participate. If you believe that there is indeed a definite need for a "humane influence" at the county animal control and that it should not be considered merely a "pound", pl
  16. It is now dead on the side of the road on Dallas-Nebo.
  17. Please make sure to get it fixed by 4 - 5 months old. West Georgia Spay Neuter Clinic is 678-840-8072 (appointments available every day) or CatSnip at 770-455-7077 (next visit to Paulding January 15th).
  18. Need to know if there is a local place for donating clothes to needy women for job interviews, office jobs, etc. Anyone know of local group who does this?
  19. Hate to tell you SS, but Powers Crossroads is no longer what it once was. It was really sad to see and word was that this will probably be the last year. Opening day, mid-afternoon, yesterday there were very few people there. Once you had to park a mile away and ride a bus to the entrance. We were able to park almost at the entrance because there were so few cars. There were probably 1/4 of the vendors in what used to take hours to walk through. The great food vendors from years past were missing, too. The smaller show next door was no longer there, just bare spaces. There
  20. Great mindless entertainment and de-stresser! Teresa, Vicky and Alexis are the worst. They are the most self-absorbed women I've ever seen. They also have the worst husbands or partners. Wonder what the correlation is there? It was so obvious that Joe Giudice was talking to a woman. Teresa's still in La La Land and Joe's still saying he was talking to a worker. Teresa's Blog Joe Says His Call Was Work Ramona, Sonja and NeNe are total nut jobs, but fun to watch. Caroline and Aviva are both beginning to seem like they just try to keep the pot stirred.
  21. Thank you to the parties responsible for setting up the flags each and every Memorial Day and Fourth of July (and other holidays) along Hwy. 278. They are a sight to see waving in the breeze! Thank you for continuing this tradition.
