  1. pffft!!! glassdogs, we could ALL only hope to be as "undistinguished" as Roger Leggett!
  2. Local Paulding County Animal Control and Paulding Humane Society volunteer, Edna Dowd and husband Steve, lost most of their possessions and three of their cats to a house fire on Saturday, February 13th. Edna has been a dedicated volunteer with the animals here for many years working fostering pets until they could be adopted, helping at the shelter weekly and at fundraising events. If you would like to help this family who have worked so hard to make a difference in the community a fundraising page has been set up at FUNDRAZR https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/816Lke/ab/61Vcm1 with more inf
  3. Can spay through the Humane Society's spay/neuter program CHEAP!
  4. The number to West Georgia Spay/Neuter Clinic is 678-840-8072. Those prices don't sound like theirs at all. Thinking you called the wrong place? http://www.westgeorgiaspayneuter.com
  5. Reminiscent of five years ago when Mr. Jones asserted there was too much humane influence in Animal Control, interrogated both employees and volunteers as to who would dare post on p.com against this decision to make changes there and then banned those volunteers.
  6. What is the status of the court case? It was my understanding that the judge ruled in their favor to allow this case to go to court. Is the county being allowed to ignore that ruling?
  7. Sent you a PM earlier. The Humane Society is not the same thing as the county animal control. The Humane Society is a volunteer organization. Animal Control will put it to sleep. The Humane Society will help get treatment.
  8. The original post asked for private responses. It was her brother and was posted in another thread on the board and was also confirmed in this thread before being edited. You don't have to make assumptions if you are bright enough to notice the other thread she had just posted about her brother's death.
  9. "All that being said, my guess is you called for an ambulance and it was probably BS and someone could have taken the patient to urgent care instead of calling 911." I stand by my statement also. Very jerkish thing to ASSume and post to someone who has just lost a close family member. The poster was also not asking for public responses to the post. Hate losing that donation you were eagerly going to make though. Yeah, right.
  10. Her brother just died. I'm thinking her experience was probably related to that. Jerk.
  11. There would certainly have to be strict ordinances and rules. I highly doubt that any changes will come from this. Surprised the county is even bothering to hear the presentation.
  12. I also have reservations, but there is much more to it than just fixing a wild cat and throwing it back out to fend for itself in the wild. I believe that is the purpose of this meeting (to explain the process.) These groups relocate or release in an area where they are fed, monitored for illness and vetted every year. Lots of questions, but there needs to be a better answer than constantly pouring money into the county killing them. Those taken in and euthanized by the county are only a drop in the bucket at the cats abandoned, multiplying and roaming neighborhoods.
  13. That's great for you, Gone. What about the other hundred every month running around multiplying? How do you suggest that be handled? You must be content to let your taxes continue to fund the housing, feeding and killing? Or would it make more sense to allow groups who do this kind of thing to take them, costing the taxpayers much less?
  14. Are there any animals you don't shoot and kill? The problem is when these feral cats are left to multiply. If fixed and in moderation they can be very beneficial in pest control of especially rats and snakes. Animal control intakes, houses and then kills hundreds of feral cats each year. It is costly. SG, this isn't a new problem. The recession has made it worse, but it has been a big problem for a long time. Spaying and neutering your pets would save everyone a lot of money, time and trouble.
  15. Get a trap from Animal Control and relocate him to the great woods. Traps are available to borrow
  16. Oh, he can fly alright. I would have loved to see the faces of the people driving up 61 as he was flying toward them! I read that the dirty neck is from searching under the water and mud for food.
