You know, i have a bad habit of relating to my own personal experiences. However, i don't think that every single person who parks in a handicapped space is not actually handicapped. I just get frustrated at my own mom, she has the power to change what is causing her pain and she doesn't. I do not think that everyone who has a placard or uses the cart in the store is lazy, and I apologize if I came off that way. I fully understand that some pain isn't as noticable to onlookers.

I love my mom, I really do, but her handicap is that she's fat. Her excess weight hurts her back, which she refuses to acknowledge that her weight is the problem with her back pain....anyway. She has the handicap tag, both the plate and the placard that hangs from the rearview. She uses the placard when she drives my van, which is often. When I am driving, i drop her off at the door and park in a normal spot. We argue over it everytime and she gets real upset when I refuse to use the parking space. I have also told her that being fat isn't a handicap. I was fat. I am not fat now. The

I completely forgot what this thread was about until you posted.

Pubby, Just to be honest, it would just make me feel better. I used to be rather complacient. I don't own a gun. I've never shot a gun, never been hunting, never killed anything other then a fish, and that was an accident, I swear!! I honestly don't know if i could kill, with the exception of a threat to my kids. As any mom, I would fight to the death for them. At our elementary school, we have several large, strong males on staff. I know each of them--actually, I know most of the staff, even the subs--and the mere precense of these men, visible as they are, brings me great comfor

I have two in kindergarten and one in 3rd grade and I absolutely sat them down and talked about this with them. When they asked if it could happen here, I said yes, yes it could. Here's how to get away. If the gunman enters the room you're in, the cafeteria, the gym, the classroom, fall down and play dead. Stay still, stay silent. (We even praticed this a few times.) If you hear a gun in the school but not in your classroom, make sure someone locks the door, puts paper over the window, and hide in the cabinets or closet. If your teacher thinks its safe, they'll lead you out of the outsi

:yahoo: I agree with everything you said.

No no, GREAT IDEA!! Having someone armed in the front office, with training, would immediately ease my mind. In Texas, the teachers have been packing legally since 2008. I want that here. My response: Head shot stops them dead every time.

Which is why I consider myself an "anxious" person. I am grateful the break is rapidly approaching, however this will not be far from my mind for a very long time. I refuse to be eaten up by fear, though, so I will treasure my family and be thankful that I have this time with them....while keeping both eyes wide open. I hope the worst never happens here, but let's face it, Newtown is a Mayberry too. Those parents never expected to be living this nightmare right now. WSB radio is reporting now 20 children were murdered today. I can't even begin to imagine the heart ache and I can't stop c

Actually, the driver did get a new route, with a new companhy. I've seen him recently in the Paulding Waste trucks. The buy out was about two years ago, but I remembered him because he's hawt and I don't forget eye candy like that. But sigh, you have a point. Until the last little guy is gobbled up, I'll do my part. When that happens, as I stated above, I'll go with Waste Industries.

YES!!! I am trying to be rational, but I am crying for those parents. I am leaving early for carpool. Hopefully that will help me feel better. We're also going to stop for ice cream and maybe hit a park. I'm just going to enjoy them today. Extra hugs and kisses, too.

kindergarten and first grade. I am shaking. thinking of my babies.

OMG Now, they're saying 18 kids dead. 26 total dead

Fox news reporting 5 children dead. Dear God, how heart wrenching!

Just left my kids. We have lunch with them every Friday. As soon as I turned on the car, I heard the news and I had to fight the urge to go back in and check them out. Prayers for these families. Prayers that this kind of thing stops. Those poor kids, those poor parents!!!

Yeah, when NEWS was bought by American, I recieved a letter stating that they would keep the same employees. Two weeks later, whole new crew. I asked what happened to the old crew and was told "they were from the other company". I replied that I thought they'd keep their jobs with the switch and the guy said he didn't know, he was from the Gwinnett office. Then they tried to charge me $20 to cancel my "contract". They never got the $20. And to the other post: Duh. I know that someone locally is working for these companies, therefore getting paid. I also realize that the truck does

Nothing's "wrong"....its just that it's a crappy economy and some of us go out of our way to support our neighbors as best we can. For me, its hiring the local trash people. I'd rather pay a few dollars more a month and keep a neighbor in a job. Waste Industries is out of Virginia. My service is Paulding owned and operated. Now, if all the local guys get bought out, i'd go with WI because I was impressed with their corporate philosophy when I saw them on "Undercover Boss" a while back.

We see mostly families. My nine year old loves it. I've never seen anyone at the park smoking pot, nor anyone who looks like they do.

It will always be White Oak to us, no matter what the sign says. We're disc golfers....little known fact: White Oak is one of the top disc golf courses in the country. It's got a high difficulty rating and is a top draw for disc golfers to our area.

Mulitple bad experiences with the brown store sent me to the post office this year. One small example of a "bad experience" I send great grandma framed school pics every year. Last year, I paid $90 to ship that one box at the brown place. I didn't have enough $$ left to ship anything else and I kept asking the customer no service lady if they could help me find a way to get out cheaper....she said "it's that time of year". Ok. noted. This year, I was determined to get everything out early. I went to the PO this past payday, expecting the cost to be in the neighborhood of the brown st

Thank you, that made my day........In the same line of thinking....every man decked out in moto gear and hiding behind a helmet MUST be a thug getting ready to commit a robbery. I mean, some people may actually enjoy riding, but we live in a large urban area where its easier to get away from the cops on a cycle, so I am now convinced every single rider is an evil thug looking for an oppurtunity to steal purses and rape defenseless, helpless citizens like me. Idiot.

Love mine too! But mine doesn't have all access to the house/kids. (outside during the day, but he sleeps on the floor at the foot of my son's bed every night) Not because of his breed, but because I don't trust any animal around kids. At 13 years, Scooby Doo is our "old dog", king of the yard, and docile as a fish. Sorry for this family, prayers for the child.

I totally admit to doing this...and it's funnier when you get to know the neighbors and find out your first assumptions were too close to the mark. I'm a peeper. I did not used to be. Never cared until an incident happened in my home that left me feeling unsafe for a very long time. I've chilled out some, but I'm still a little jumpy. Back to topic: I only peep if I hear a car driving by slowly and stops or "creeps" by the houses near me. I can tell by the sound if it's the mailman or the garbage truck, but when I hear the "creepers", I'm looking out to see who it is. I can tel

Ah, I missed the second round, too! But I did sell four boxes of the cupcakes for more then enough to pack the rest up and pay for shipping them to the USS Nimitiz and the Sailors who missed their chance to get a last taste....for now anyway.

I have one, don't know his name and he was GSP, but it's a "good" story... About three years ago, back when the speed limit by the bowling ally was still 15 MPH, my husband had to get to work and I needed to take a kid to an appointment, so I was driving him. I cut through on Harris Loop and he says "slow down, speed limit's 15" and I said, "no one ever goes 15 on this street" as I round the curve and see a GSP sitting there, with the radar thing pointed at me, and all he had to do was jerk his head to the side before I pulled over. All three kids are antsy, whiney and getting a little loud

I, for one, would LOVE to hear some of these stories, besides the link posted. Any locals have any encounters? Secondly, if they're heeerrrreeee....how can we "protect it"? Prevent it from being hunted?
