I spent 300 on my desktop and built it part by part. it has yet to find a game it cant run at max graphics on either windows or linux. I bought a friend a pc for 200 that is almost as fast. add 70 bucks if you want a flat panel monitor. Oh yeah, and my netbook can fit into a manila envelope.

Linux isnt about being anti-establishment, linux is about getting the best value for your dollar. Its freakin FREE and virusproof. Windows XP is alright, and Windows 7 has even grown on me a bit, but eventually something always happens to windows. I never have that problem with linux. Its just a smarter Operating system. Mac would be great if they charged what it was actually worth, but they dont and they maintain firm control over their software and hardware which is great if you know ZERO about computers and dont need to do too broad a range of things. Linux can do everything Windows can do...and more. Kraft will give quicken a run for its money any day...ya know except for the fact that kraft is free. Not to mention GnoTime which works just as well for invoices.

No, just that many people arent going to fork over several thousand dollars for something a PC can do just as well for a third (or less) the price. I fail to see why Linux would frustrate anyone. its the easiest and safest OS out there.

Apple's iMac line and all Mac computers are proprietary. Apple controls the hardware and software. Ide tell you how its all over priced and over controlled but I wouldnt want to hurt wine's feelings.
