  1. Agreed, but at least they wouldnt be forced to go to a bar or restaurant to drink, they would have the choice to do it at home. I will never drink even a sip of alcohol if i know i am going to have to drive. So if i am out of wine, lets say even to cook with, i am completely out of luck if it is on the Protestants Sabbath.
  2. Alcohol laws were given to each state after prohibition ended. Some states make sweeping changes that effect all municipalities. However, in the South almost all states are locally decided. In Alabama they have a law similar to what is being proposed here. The state allows for sunday sales, however each county has laws dictating it. I know in Birmingham you can buy on Sunday I believe after 11 am, but just south of the city, in Pelham, Alabaster and the suburbs they cannot purchase on sunday and must drive 5 minutes up the street into the next county to purchase. Florida however gen
  3. This will be huge for people in counties that border Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and the Carolinas. Currently it is as simple as driving across the border for a few minutes if you have to purchase something with alcohol. That is huge business. I worked at Sam's club, and for years in Marietta there would be groups of people come in and buy Pallets of Beer on Saturday to be sold bootlegged on Sunday. The Alcohol buyer for all of Sam's club drove through areas of Marietta and other areas of Atlanta where people setup make shift Bootleg Alcohol stores out of their house and people would pa
  4. I have emailed my State Senator to make sure my voice is at least heard. I do not understand why we are denied a right that 94% of the country is entitled to. This should be an all or nothing law. Either we have to comply to complete non drinking like the Christian Coalition would want, or let us buy it whenever. I am not sure why the Sabbath day observed by a certain group of Christians is the day we are having to observe to dictate our purchasing decisions.
  5. I do most of my P.Com on my iPad and it works for everything. What is it showing/doing that isnt letting you reply?
  6. Then we should outlaw alcohol and smoking 24/7 as well as all sales of them if that is the case. But then again, why are we letting the views of some control the free will of all?
  7. There are so many reasons that this is ridiculous. We are one of the only states left that cannot sell in some form or fashion to consumers on Sunday in retail stores. We require people to DRIVE to drink and then drive home. The logic of it forces people to plan better by buying on Saturday is ridiculous (do we go buy Chick-fil-a on saturday so we can eat it sunday when we want it?). The religious aspect is insane (Jesus was a winemaker, remember?). And if there is a community that is super religious (in their own way) and wants to make people give tax dollars to other towns then they
  8. Would wait a few months for the new iPhone. V has changed their terms to include a full 2 year wait before you can upgrade again, or a float to 400 dollar charge to cancel, so whatever you pick, I would do it very cautiously.
  9. That would make the third remodel in the last 10 years. They did a complete remodel when they painted it brown 9 years ago, and then a minor paint/refresh when they changed electronics and the restrooms 4 years ago.
  10. Wow, this thread is the perfect example of people talking based on what they hear and not knowing ANYTHING about what they are saying. The Apple environment first off is now no longer more 3x more than the windows counterparts. A Macbook air starts at $999 ($899 on sale at microcenter at times), but yet there are NO windows PC's that are in the market like it for less than 1700. It has a battery life of 9-12 hours, has Flash based hard drive that starts up immediately, light as a feather, and runs Mac and any other operating system you would like. And to all of the people still living
  11. My feelings wouldn't be hurt, the truth is the truth, like with evolution some people refuse to see the truth even when the evidence is in front of their face. Many people are afraid or ignorant of change or something different from what they have known for so long. I have linux, windows, and mac running in my house, and the only one I can rely on without frustration is the one that was with a half eaten fruit logo'd on it.
  12. Only apple sells computers with mac. It is possible to create your own pc and trick mac into working on it, but it isn't guaranteed to work as flawless and trouble free as it does on apple hardware, and it is not an easy thing to do. Apple generally makes their hardware and software together so they work smoothly, that is why they are generally more stable than windows since most windows pc's are pieced together from parts that are not all of the highest quality.
  13. The problem with those options are the ease of doing everything as well as battery life. The e-book reader has the battery life, but for most are suitable for only text or the most basic of images, as well the screens are way to small to be effective as textbooks. Laptops are an option, and they have been used in may different markets. However without having the touchscreen, the native feel of turning pages, and simple portability is lost. Laptops (except macbook airs and other Apple Laptops) are generally stuck at a maximum of around 6 hours of battery life. This is not enough to ma
  14. Macbook: $armandleg Ipad(basicmodel) = $500+ Average PCLaptop = $300+ (Lacking interactive Touchscreen and Portability) E-Book Reader with all bells and whistles= $250+ (Lacking functionality past basic reading and Browsing, including Teacher interactivity, developer support, Word Processing, Powerpoint, Excel, and multimedia) Standard Netbook = $215 (Laughable at best, currently not even powerful enough for standard browsing or word processing) Android Tablet= $200 (Android is an option but not at $200, these are cheap plastic and using very poor parts, ideal for a kids toy, would need m
  15. I agree that a Nook Color could be used as it has a high quality screen. The only downside would be that in its current form the Nook Color can only do the standard textbooks and basic web browsing. The difference in price would be the added capabilities not available on the Nook Firmware (quizzes, embedded videos, word processing, Poweroints, excel, etc) that are available on the iPad.
  16. You cannot compare a Kindle to an iPad, the Kindle cannot accurately portray images in any form or fashion that could be usable for schools. The iPad has a laptop style screen but more usable. The iPad has the potential to be a 1 stop shop for textbooks with all books on each students iPad and the teachers can project notes and such to each students device, they can view videos on it, take quizzes and such on it, etc. These are all things that the Kindle cannot do. However, I am a HUGE iPad advocate (we have 3 in my household), but I do not see this being a good plan for schools. The l
  17. We have been there three times so far and have loved it.
  18. So far I think it's one of the best State of the Unions so far. The speaker of the house is getting on my nerves with his negativity. But otherwise I like it.
  19. I was going to gloat earlier that i had not yet. But i just did :-(
  20. Im glad that you agree that you need it. For those who cannot use proper grammar the iPhone is very easy for you to use. Google the phrase "Double Negative"
  21. My link I am in complete agreeance that this is a good thing. But I also think there are some major points people should think about before jumping on the Verizon iPhone bandwagon. 1) The Verizon iPhone is going to be running at a fraction of the speed of the AT&T iPhone due to running on a slower 3G network 2) The Verizon iPhone is going to be unable to do one of the things that makes it so special, MULTITASK while talking. Unlike on AT&T Verizons network is unable to support talking on a phone and doing anything else. So you cannot use your phone as a GPS while on th
  22. I loved Mr. Henry. Last I saw he was working at Michaels in Hiram. Mr. Henry, Mrs. Amos, Mrs. Jenkins, Mrs. Williams/Moore and many more had a profound impact and I will always have fond memories of school because of them.
  23. Those are all i will use. 1 log makes a fire much larger than wood and lasts much longer than natural wood. I use 1 log, and right when it is about out i put wood in and use the log to get it burning.
  24. I think it's funny, people were all complaining about no milk yesterday, but there was a ton of organic and lactose free milk left. For those that do not know, organic milk is not pumped full of hormones and lasts twice as long, and lactose free milk is not soy milk and tastes the same. But most people refuse to call it milk if it's not a regular looking gallon.
