You hit the nail on the head NG! And you're so right. Did you guys and gals see the local paper? Not only did Big Money make a splash with 2 full page ads for Pownall (and there have also been in earlier papers), a full page ad for Barnett, BUT - and here's the kicker - the Mr. Austin put out an ad SUPPORTING Pownall. Didn't someone a while back suggest that these two candidates were the chairman's picks? And then I guess you lose those checks and balances that NG is mentioning above. Did anyone get a chance to read that article the young girl wrote about Cochran? Someone posted a

A favorite food or menu item no longer available?
GreenEyedGirl replied to jennilyn77's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I used to LOVE sirloin tips with mushroom gravy at like Ryans or Golden Corral. This was back when you could order steaks from the menu OR order all you can eat bar. When they all moved to just the mega bars, they did away with that option. Loved the flavor of that gravy. -
A little off topic.. but it's funny that Todd corrected David in the P'Com Round table video regarding the times to vote early this week. By the way folks, David was right. Tuesday and Thursday is open until 7pm, not 5pm like Todd said. Good thing, as I voted at around 6:30 on Tuesday so I hope my vote counted!!!!
-
The P'Com crew was there - they can confirm who missed it. I thought S&S missing candidates were Barnett and Crowe. Funny - they are the ones left standing.

I want industry and jobs here too. But you're right about the recession. And with the news of the millage increase because the tax digest has decreased - my questions is where will the money come from to build all of this? We are after all struggling to pay for the new facilities the county have now.

How about a civil discussion on the 19th district race
GreenEyedGirl replied to lotstodo's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Do the other candidates running for office attend meetings, or have they ever? I don't see anything wrong with someone going to a group of politically minded folks for advice or support. But not sure why it matters if someone attended prior to February or not. Don't most politicians show up to events to get their name out - and then go their own way after an election? -
What happened to the Commission Candidate Roundtable ?
GreenEyedGirl replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I didn't take my subjective question as negative campaigning. Sorry if it came across that way. I just received that opinion from my friend that can vote in Post 4 and then asked the folks on here if they agree with his viewpoint or not. I have read a few of these threads and it appears 3-4 folks are supporting the same candidates and speak highly of them. I was just curious if anyone else was concerned about that. I didn't say that those guys giving up their salary was good or bad. Negative campaigning to me is "I hear a rumor" or "I know for a fact"(when no proof is provided). -
What happened to the Commission Candidate Roundtable ?
GreenEyedGirl replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I'm more of a "Does everyone get a fair shot" kind of person. Don't really have a candidate in this. I just notice as I'm sure other members do too that it seems all the Positive hype is about the same two candidates, and was wondering why it seems to be more negative or non-existent towards the others. Maybe someone will step up for Crowe and Cochran???? Keep it fair, so to speak. -
What happened to the Commission Candidate Roundtable ?
GreenEyedGirl replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I assume you mean Shearin? No. Not sure where he lives. Is he in Post 4? Don't really know him other than seeing him on the public channel before. If you asked the general population "what do you think of a candidate running for local office who is willing to forego their salary?" - I bet many folks would think the candidate has something up their sleeve. So NO my friend is not a crook. He's just seen a few too many CROOKED politicians. BTW, Does anyone on this board have anything GOOD to say about the other two candidates? I see only comments about Pownall and Barnett. -
Regardless of potential political victories or claims due to this, I for one am just VERY thankful that apparently the worse may be over. I just pray that they can test the sealife/seafood and determine when the fishermen will be able to go back to work. Hopefully we can get the all clear that the food is safe to eat soon too.

What happened to the Commission Candidate Roundtable ?
GreenEyedGirl replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
I have a friend who lives in Post 4. I told him about the announcement made by these two candidates to give back their salary, and asked his opinion. I wonder who else would agree with this view: "If they aren't getting paid by the county then they will be sure they get their pay through the back door and in other ways. I'm not sure I'd trust someone offering to work for free." I'm out of this one - but does anyone else think that this is fishy and that the 2 candidates that get the most praise on this site are the two that are offering to forego their salary? -

Surepip, Not sure your following the GOP like you say. Your quote: The Old Guard in the Paulding GOP have stepped away from their elected roles within the party; and are actively campaigning for Jerry's Girls. Those who want to can argue that all you want, but it is very evident to anyone with their eyes open that there are 2 factions within the Paulding GOP. Jerry's Group and those wanting the RBMDs to hit the trail. I believe Austin and Graham both fall into the latter category. From speaking to a few of those folks at the GOP...... Individuals that attend party meetings -

Aren't you guys every gonna give the comments up about someone who can't even come on here to defend himself? (At least that's what I think someone said in a different post).

Anyone wanna share with us not in the know what ya'll are talking about? Don't you just hate a big tease!

Thanks for posting this. Will this be recorded? How long is the meeting? Is anyone else undecided still in this race (besides me)?

It was in the paper, but hey - we can't believe what we read right? Feelip - Not trying to control anyone - just asking that everyone stop guilt by association tactics, name calling, and play nice. ASKING - not controlling. Maybe you and Whitey should get on out of here and stop throwing punches. Seriously - telling someone to leave. Maybe you should try playing nice. -

As soon as I get my bonus I will. wink wink doens't fool me. You really shouldn't continue to antagonize folks. Again, I HAVE NOT DECIDED who to vote for. What is up with you guys - cant you read? You go ahead and vote for the ones picked by the current admin. Powell backed Pownall. -

Oh yes - allow me to respond to this quote from Whitey..... then I have to run: "And then you come in Mysteriously on May 10, 2010 Join P.com And begin to post on the political races," I came on here to get some information about getting some clearing down on my property. I have that information still handy - and as soon as I get confirmation of my bonus next month still plan on getting that work done. A friend told me what a GREAT site this was for information. And with the election posts on here over and over, I am trying to learn more about the candidates - but just see the -

Why do you keep saying that about supporting candidates who have taken from the community for over 12 years? #1 - I have not made up my mind who to vote for... my apparent support is all about fairness on this crazy board. #2 - who and how? Okay - I think anybody on here or that attends the events know that Ms. Cochran was the AA and Clerk. WOW - thanks for sharing the obvious. I suppose as somone else said you can see Jason's history pretty easily too. The guy you guys are talking about with the Tee-shirt - didn't I see a post somewhere that he was forwarded that material by someo -

I think that is a male term! At least I hope so..... sorry! Just mean that some folks keep on and on trying to ruin this site and election interests for more average/concerned citizens. I think it's a shame, and see why others left the site. Winchester, JMT, etc. Don't see the trouble makers leaving or getting banned... but I am very new and still have a lot to learn (if I can stand to stay on here). -
If the owner of the house had asked the campaign to remove the sign - an explanation that is OK. This is probably not the case, and the person was stealing a sign. This is actually 100% against the law - petty larceny I believe research to show - punishable by up to 12 months in jail. Too bad you didn't get the license plate and turn that person in to have it investigated.

No paranoia here. Maybe your old crew that keep on and on and on attacking various candidates because of their "ties" to the old administration are paranoid???? What was their motivation for "giving back" to the community? Everyone has motivation. Even if it is to make new friends, get your name out there in the public eye, add to your resume, feel better about yourself by giving back.... everyone has motives for their actions. For the record, I don't really support any one candidate yet. Will decide maybe after that meet & greet I heard about for this Saturday. What I do sup -

Agreed. Good post. It's very obvious that the folks that are pretty much only praised on here (Graham, Pownall, Barnett) must have a very specific group trying to keep that "New" old boy network going. Kind of interesting that those are 2 of the 3 that suddenly decided to buy our votes by saying they wouldn't take a salary for 2 years too. Get real - who honestly runs for office - and then halfway through the campaign decides and announces they won't take a salary? Anyone with common sense can read right through the "for the good of the county" line they are feeding us. What is the r -
Signs, Signs, Everywhere there are Signs
GreenEyedGirl replied to surepip's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Show us the picture/proof. I heard from various supporters of different campaigns - including statewide campaigns - that they saw her supporters there putting up the signs. Seriously - you guys really don't have much to do but continuously harp on a couple of local candidates do you? And then, signs for some gubernatorial candidates, Beverly, Braddock, Atty General, and probably others I am not aware of at this time were taken down - NOT by supporters - and NOT returned to the campaigns. Can you believe this - right on county property. I think we should pull the video and prosecute,
