The original Halloween is one of my top ten... I do not like gross for gross sake, I need a decent plot formula with plenty of anxious suspense and jumpy creepy scary moments... The "Descent" is a pretty good recent horror flick, beware if you do not like bloody cannibal creatures...

My mistake on that assumption... I must have glossed over that detail. You are correct that personal preference is very important and my best advice still stands : Being comfortable and capable with your weapon of choice is always the best defense...

Not securing your weapon in a home where children are present is not a "mistake" or an "accident". It is a dangerous and possibly criminal act of negligence. Law enforcement officers typically have many years of experience handling firearms and they need the extra capacity to deal with a shoot out / multiple suspect situation... Most gun dealers will confirm that a revolver is the best and safest choice for a novice. If you need 13 rounds to take down an intruder or assailant it is time to work on your aim... Assuming that she wants a firearm for self defense, and given the fact that she has admitted that she inexperienced with firearms... a revolver is the best choice. In an emergency situation a jam can cost you your life, and it takes experience to calmly and quickly clear a jam in an emergency... A revolver is a reliable and safe choice for self defense. Easy to load, easy to use, easy to clean, heavy trigger action. Failure to secure any firearm from children is no accident... it is gross negligence.

I enjoyed this gorgeous day doing yard work... pulling weeds, trimming bushes, planting mums, mowing grass. The leaves in my woods are just starting to turn lovely shades of yellow, orange, and red. I cannot wait for the beautiful bounty of full fall color...
