Where Were You on 9-11-01, When You Heard About the Twin Towers?
PsychoMom replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Remember the quietness afterward? No planes flying overhead. Everyone so quiet and solemn. I remember hearing that first plane fly over after they opened the air space again. It made my heart ache for those lost all over again. How many had to eventually turn it off and watch something else? I know around here, we discovered TV Land was our escape. All those old sitcoms was our way of letting it go for a little while. We pulled out the old videos of classic comedies. Just had to take a break from the pain, especially with children in the house. -
Where Were You on 9-11-01, When You Heard About the Twin Towers?

I was teaching middle school social studies. Another teacher stepped to my back door & told me a plane had hit one of the WTC buildings. I thought it was an awful accident. Then she came back and told me the 2nd plane had hit. My world stopped for a minute. I knew what that meant. The school was new. No internet going. No TVs. No connection to the outside world. I looked at my class and told them this was a historical event for our country and turned on the radio. We listened to the entire thing on the radio. Kind of like a 'War of the Worlds' thing. It broke m -
Like I said, been there, done that. I told and became the bad guy to the mother. Weird. Other times it has worked out well though. You did the right thing.

Traveling and Work - question about if they can make you

I bet each child has a friend who goes to their school that they could stay with overnight. Most parents will help you with that. -
Hope you are recovering well.

Sounds like you are looking for an excuse to quit. If you want to keep your job, go. If it doesn't matter to you, don't go. You can be fired for any reason. You may or may not collect unemployment for it. -
Prayers for my daughters friend...UPDATE 10:45
PsychoMom replied to dawneykids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Well, if prayer got him that far, let's keep it up! Add a stubborn streak to that mix and he will whoop this thing! Continuing prayers for an amazing recovery. -
I have Momma Stories going back to BEFORE I was born. LOL! How many people do you know with a valid driver license who have never passed a driving test. Not that they didn't take the test, but outright failed it, and still ended up driving home with a license. My mom! She failed the test, not once, but two times in different states. And they still gave her a license. You should ride with her sometime! Heck! I just realized why I have so much gray hair. Not from the kids! From my MOM!

My mom is only 71. I guess she is ahead of her time.

Prayers for my daughters friend...UPDATE 10:45

Oh my! He is right in between my kids ages and they went to EPHS. Can you post his name for those of us here who might know him? I taught a lot of those kids too. -
We got my mom a digital camera about 3 years ago. She was afraid she would break it and never used it. So, now she goes on a cruise to Alaska and decides she might take it. Along with about 1/2 dozen disposable cameras. The digital camera will hold over 1500 pics, but the disposable ones are cheap! lol! Someone shows her how to use it (AGAIN) and she packs it. The next day, I have to show her AGAIN how to use it. Then she calls from Alaska and tells me she doesn't think it's working. She can't remember how to use it. UGH! Mom! Turn on the camera and point and shoot. Not that diffi

I will pray for him too. I hope he recoveries quickly. And your daughter for a safe drive. That is a long haul. Is he from Paulding? -
I think they just can't look at your info anymore and don't receive the updates. No other notices as far as I know.

I would make him do a writing assignment justifying his reasons for not watching the video. Not just "I've heard too much about it," but valid reasons why he felt he should not watch the video. He would have to support his reasons by backing it up with facts and figures and supporting documentation. He needs to have a minimum of 5 reasons. That would support his valid reason for opting out.

I have unfriended a few. And some, I just put it where I don't see their updates. I get tired of reading the same crap day after day, so I just skip that part. I have been unfriended a time or 2 myself. lol! I'll live.

I had my first wreck last week and I have a question or two.
PsychoMom replied to ram0265's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Eons ago, I had an accident. I was told by the judge that if I plead guilty, it could be used against me in a civil suit. If I was found guilty, it could not. I guess because in one you are completely accepting you did something wrong, and in the other, they have to prove they did nothing wrong. Don't plead guilty. Type up everything that happened. Draw diagrams. Etc. You could even post a sign at the intersection, and here on PCom, that anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward. You may get lucky. -
He knows you told about another child, and he still came to you. Yep. Tell.
-
Been there, done that. And it stinks out loud! Approach it the way you would want someone to do if it were your child. Would you want them to come to you? I did that. The parent didn't want to know. All I could say is that I tried. I didn't stop. I have approached other parents when I have been made aware of situations. I tell them to just keep their eyes open and check up on the kids to see what is really going on. It helped in other cases. FYI. the therapist in me handles it totally differently. But that is because I am bound by rules and regulations involving confidentiali

I remember! Hope your enjoying NC.

I think it may be that some parents naturally assume the other child is the aggressor or the one causing trouble, so they fuss more at someone else's child than they do their own. It's a fine line. You have to make sure you aren't favoring your child because you know them better, or only deal with your own child. I guess it comes from being a parent, I have seen others blame my child when I think it is their child. In reality, it was most likely BOTH kids. Also, I would have a problem if someone got onto my child about something that I would not get onto them for. You have to make su

I will call my sister. She works with an agency that provides needs for mothers in situations where they need assistance. As for quitting school, I don't think so. But they can look at alternatives. Homeschooling, online classes, etc. Does she have support of her parents? If not, this place can provide even that. They can provide housing until the baby is 3 months old. And they help provide all the clothes and furniture and all needed. It is in Cherokee county, but they may cover other areas. On another note, I am really concerned about her not knowing who the father is. Is -
