  1. My mom lives alone. These things scare me to death! She is too trusting at times. We finally taught her about leaving her door open when I had my husband climb over the rail and walk in on her as I was knocking on the front door. Just had to show her how easy someone else could have gotten in. She keeps it closed and locked now.
  2. I heard the sirens go by. I was wondering what was going on. I hope they caught him or he was on the other side of the bridge. He might be dog chow if he tries to run up here.
  3. I go when she tells me she has an appointment and will let me. I am taking her next week. Apparently, this one has her really worried. She isn't playing with it too much. Tuesday is not her surgery day. It is another appointment to discuss her surgery. I wonder how long before they actually do something about it. Thanks for the support. Between me and my siblings, I think she is getting the point. She has 4 adult children, 12 adult grandchildren, and a couple of nearly grown great grandchildren, she has plenty of people willing to help. Especially, when you add the spouses and
  4. Wonderful news! And, I don't think it matters what you're educated in, somebody will make fun. I am counselor, and I get all kinds of comments about it.
  5. My mom was in the hospital a few weeks ago. She had a complication from a minor outpatient procedure and began hemorrhaging. She ended up needing surgery and 4 units of blood. While there, they discovered she has a blockage in the cardioid artery in her neck. She went yesterday and they found out it was a 99% blockage. They have no idea why she has not had a stroke yet. She is scheduled for surgery next week. I am really worried about her. She does not tell people what is going on with her health-wise. We have to drag it out of her. She never admitted to her doctors that the co
  6. Anywhere with a pavilion and a large playground. Maybe a basketball court and tennis courts too. That way, all ages can have something to do. Also, start looking at limiting who is invited. He is to the age where he wants it to be more friends and less family. I had small family get togethers for birthdays, then a party for the friends. Or a party for all and a few friends for a slumber party afterward. Find out what he means by a 'real' party, because to me, that would indicate an at home party. Otherwise, it is a kid's party to me (thinking Mickey D's or Chuck E Cheese ty
  7. The Locator would be a great idea! They would love this story.
  8. Do you have any biological aunts or uncles that you are aware of? They may be more willing to open up.
  9. I don't let many people know who I really am because I've been burned by some of them. And I tend to not carry long grudges, so I forget who is mad at me. Others take notes. Evil ones, I remember, but most piddly arguments, I forget about. I like to debate, I don't like to hold onto anger, so it is easier if they don't know my personal stuff most of the time.
  10. I read it this morning. I couldn't even imagine what to say. I didn't want anyone to turn it into a political issue. It is just a horrendous act. Sadly, it happens here as well. They just don't make them go through the so-called marriage part. They just abuse children.
  11. I don't have time to keep up with anyone anymore. And I am sick of all the hoopla over who has what. It used to drive me nuts when kids bragged about being rich because their parents would buy them everything they want. Their parents were in debt and the kids had no money at all. Mary Kate and Ashley were rich kids. Most around here are not.
  12. Danny's Song - It was the song I sang through my whole first pregnancy with my son, and I rocked him to sleep to it. And more recently, Baby Girl by Sugarland. I guess because my Baby Girl is chasing her own dreams.
  13. I tried to look up info on the company. No website or any real name linked to it. Smells fishy to me. If they really wanted qualified people, they would give you some real info. I wonder how much you have to pay for their software to work from home.
  14. Keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers.
  15. I thought I knew it. I even looked up old messages and I had the one it stated. However, it is saying it is incorrect. If someone could send me the correct one, I would appreciate it. I just want to have this computer all geared up for my Pcomming.
  16. I am so sorry to hear this! Prayers to all involved and to his family for strength.
  17. Like I said, I was also teaching middle school. But, luckily, my children were right there with me. I knew they were safe. Because our school was so new, many of the other teachers did not know until lunch. I remember the Spanish teacher when I told him. He just looked at me and said, "Tell me you're lying." He kept saying it. I asked him why I would lie about something like that. He then told me his mother worked in the building next to the WTC and his father was working at the Pentagon that week. My heart dropped. I offered to let him use my phone, and he refused. He just didn't w
  18. Prayers sent for his family and friends.
  19. I went out to the store nearly 2 hours later, and they were still there. They had the truck on the wrecker, but the car was still on the side of the road. I only saw one other car (not counting the wrecker and GSP) there. I hope all the drivers had a ride home. When I came back home about 7pm, all was cleaned up.
  20. Just drove past a head on collision that happened between 41 and the bridge. White full-size truck and medium sized white car. Was told everyone was okay. Didn't notice any serious injuries. The car is demolished. The truck isn't in great shape. Called for help, but haven't heard them pass the house yet. Please people, slow down on this road!
