I know that you grew up with computers, cell phones, smart cell phones, Scype, Tweeter, Face Book, texting, Instantgrant and all sorts of other futuristic options to communicate with, but every once in a blue moon, you may find yourself stuck in some backwater place and need to use the normal, worked just fine for us for years, technology that we know and love so well. But, do to your using all this new fangled, hi tech, Star Trek/Wars fancy schmancy, woopie di do, communicating devices, you may not know how to use the tried and true, worked for over 100 years, regular ole telephone. So j

New year, new attitudes. The past is the pasta. I am all for the OPs suggestion of a kinder, gentler pcom. I will start by apologizing to DVP for my snarky comment about him and his ex. To DVbP, I apologize for my remark about you and your ex, it was wrong and uncalled for.

Got a call at 10am this morning from my friend's daughter who is staying in our other house. I answered the phone with saying, "This can't be good." Long story short, wet vac and push broom, 5 hrs and one new sump pump later, all is well. -
Here is one reason why. In England two girls beat and burn another girl alive. One other girl and a boy were also involved. The other girl and boy received less than 8 yrs and were out in around 5 yrs. The two girls that beat and burned the young lady alive? The received life sentences, which in England, means they will be out in 15-20 yrs. Ohhh, the reason for this murder? The other girl didn't like the victim. So sure, they have low prison populations, they turn their scum back out on society.

Need some help - flowers for a funeral

Yeh, I had one from my granddad's funeral, it was hard to kill. Took me four years. Nooo, I didn't kill it on purpose, I just suck at plants. -
While I do try and at least take in what others say and their opinions, I know that at times I am guilty of what you are talking about, sometimes waaay more than I have a right to. Often I get my back up because I am mad at someone else, usually the wife, and I take it out here. (yes, I am scared of her ) There are a few topics that I have very strong opinions about and while I am willing to discuss them, something major would have to happen to change my point of view. I also have a few things that I am determined not to be opened minded about and no discussion will change that. I usually

I expect the Oregon and OSU game to become a blowout after the first quarter, with Oregon being on top. I don't want this to happen, in fact I will be pulling for OHS. I expect OSU to experience a let down of intensity (which is natural) as I think they were so focused on the Sugar Bowl, they will not be able to get up for Oregon. I hope I am wrong and OSU plays well and it is a good game and that OSU wins. Either way, it was a good year for OSU.

If you are like me, you are only used to seeing pictures of Mother Teresa in her later years. We all know she was a beautiful person on the inside, who knew she was such a cutie when she was a young gal? I guess in this case, beauty was more than skin deep. Mother Teresa at age 18

I still stand by it. Just a few observations on a few things that I have seen over the past 50 years. Decriminalization of Marijuana: It was said that the decriminalization of marijuana, which started in the mid 70’s would lead to making marijuana legal. Proponents of the decriminalization of marijuana said this would not happen. Now almost 40 years later, who was correct? Sex in the movies and on TV: It was said that depicting more sex in the movies and on TV would lead to teens being more sexually active. Proponents of depicting more sex in the movies and on TV said this wou

I mentioned my buddy (I was the best man at his wedding) who's son was sentenced to life in prison. While I understood my friend's wish for his son to not receive a life sentence, at the same time I understood that another young man was dead because of this boy's actions. I also was not going to say anything to the parents that was going to add to their pain and sorrow, no matter what I thought or said to others. When something happens locally, where family or friends can see or hear, I try and temper my comments, not because my beliefs are different, but because I think it is the polite th

First, no one who knows anything at all about William Bonney, aka Billy the Kid, knows that he never killed anywhere near 21 people. In fact, it was probably not even in double figures. Second, and this is a major point, Bonney was involved in what is known as The Lincoln County War and it was during and because of this "war" that people died at his hands. So while your point that kids have killed before video games and movies is valid, your example is a very poor one. I would also add that at no time in history, with the exception of war time, do we have so many children committing murder,

No matter what the outcome of the trials, there will be no winners in this mess. I have to wonder if those who say that crime is down, that violent movies and video games don't affect kid's behavior, that violent "song" lyrics don't affect kid's behavior, will ever admit the truth. You know the computer people have a saying, "garbage in, garbage out", the same is true for people. Especially for those whose brains are still developing.

It is a huge source of pride, when we have meetings in Reynoldsburg, OH, we have to watch a commercial for OSU before starting the meeting. I guess it is sorta like people from W.VA calling their state, "West, by God, Virginia".
