  1. My dad had a manx cat named Pete. A lazier cat never lived. True story (not one bit exagerated): I saw Pete in my dad's front yard stalking a bird, the bird was no more than 6' away from Pete. Pete crouched and took a couple of steps towards the bird, then apparently wore out, he laid down and went to sleep. The bird never moved. The squirrels and birds never feared Pete, they just ignored him, you would see Pete sleeping and the birds and squirrels playing within a few feet of Pete. My dad always said Pete was a great intellectual hunter who spent a lot of time thinking about how h
  2. Many years ago the brother of the lady I lived with had a rat problem. To save money to buy a new house he and his wife lived in an old trailer in a field in Cherokee County and they had closed on a new house. Back then Cherokee was very rural and they had started having a rat problem the last month of their stay in the trailer. Anyway, a couple of days before the move, the rats had gotten very brave and very annoying and late one night they woke the brother up with all their scratching and noise. He had finally had all he could take and grabbed his 12 gauge shotgun and started firing awa
  3. Actually, if you study history, and the times of the pilgrims are a very good example of this, you will see that the topic is still intolerance and pubby's remarks (ewww, I hate to type this, come on fingers you can do it) are actually still on the same topic, intolerance. I have been accused over the years of being intolerant and judgemental by those who disagree with my opinions. I always found it interesting that most of those who accused me of this, did so with a lot of anger and with words that were not very nice, to me showing which of us was truly was intolerant and judgemental.
  4. Pubby's answer: Yes I absolutly disagree with and I am intolerant of your opinion, this makes me feel hostile towards you. Just kidding.
  5. Just have some hotdogs and marshmellos handy when you burn, you can have a cookout.
  6. Is part of what you are saying is there are no absolutes? And that people who live beliving in absolutes tend to view those with a differing viewpoint as hostile to them?
  7. Can I please get the redneck translation for this. I felt the breeze as it went by my head.
  8. If the Desoto post office has a letter for Hernando, I don't think he will be coming to get it anytime soon. Love history, so keep it up barrycdog.
  9. It is interesting to me that most of the original Pilgrims and most of the original Indians got along and helped each other survive those first harsh winters of the pilgrims time here is America. Because of the need to work together to survive, they forged a mutual respect for the other and their ways. It was however, the second generation of both of these groups that felt the other was "in the way" and each felt the other was stopping the growth of each respected group. Basically, the second generation of both the pilgrims and the indians resented each other and both felt the other stood

  12. Several years ago I was on a flight from CA to ATL. I sat next to a lady from WI, she lived in ATL for 6 years and had been in three wrecks on 285 in the 1st 3 years she lived here. She had never had a wreck in WI and when she told the state trooper that this was her 3rd wreck in 3 years and that whe always drove the speed limit, the state trooper told her; "That's the problem you're going to slow. Stay up with the traffic." When I am coming back into the state from my travels, I am on cruise control running around 78mph in 70mph zone. I am not the fastest person on the road but I am ce

  15. My wife either has that ODD or some of that ODD. As part of her job she has worked with psychiatrists most of her life, so she has had a lot of help with her issue and does very well most of the time. But sometimes it shows up, an example would be: we are watching TV and I say; "hand me the remote" and she replies with a very snappish tone and attitude; "don't tell me what to do!" She doesn't mean it and I know that it is just a reaction that she can't help. Usually I can make a joke and she realizes what she is doing and laughs with me, depends on how much stress is going on with her at t

  17. I guess, I was in Ohio for several days and I must have saw this 10 times while I was there. Not on TV, everyone had it on their laptops. I like the fact that you know she is the best looking gal he has been out with for a long time, yet he can't get past the college thing.
  18. I grew up in a family of carpenters that built and remodeled houses all over metro ATL. My grandad built Bobby Jones' house and my dad was known as really good carpenter who was great at building cabinets and doing trim work. When I was a kid, I worked with my dad during the summers and on Saturday.(this was in the 60's) We mainly worked down around the governer's mansion and Sherwood Forest and other older large houses. We used a hammer and nails. I have no idea what in the heck most of this is about, brad guns, nail guns, liquid nails? I do know about 4 penny and 6 penny nails. As
